    Since most yachts are listed with a broker, is it smarter to have your own broker or go with the listing broker?

    Hey buddy, great channel. Really like how you keep it Real and Blunt. Do you have videos for the Joe Schmoes like me ? I'm doing my research right now, and in about a year I'll be looking for a full-time liveaboard. 50+ feet and Sub $200K. I'll be looking for something with good bones. As far as looks, as long as it looks nice, I can update things as I go along. I'm pretty handy for an older guy ... lol

      Hi Brian, according to Merriam webster definition of yacht you most certainly are!: noun a medium-sized sailboat equipped for cruising or racing. • [often with modifier] a powered boat or small ship equipped for cruising, typically for private or official use: a steam yacht.

    • @MrYachts

      When we talk about buying a yacht, the smart play isn’t just about the sticker price. It’s about understanding the total cost of ownership, which crucially includes what you can sell it for later. This is the essence of the "OWN A YACHT FOR FREE" strategy. For instance, say Boat #1 is listed at a $1.5 million MSRP but is currently a steal at $1 million. Boat #2, with a $1.5 million MSRP, also goes for $1 million. Fast forward two years: Boat #1, thanks to its strong brand reputation, resells easily for $800,000, while Boat #2 struggles and eventually sells for only $600,000. What's the better deal in the end? You never know how much a yacht costs until the day you sell it.
      This shows why choosing a yacht like Boat #1 can be such a wise decision. By snagging a well-regarded brand at a significant discount, you're not just enjoying the yacht; you're setting yourself up to nearly break even when it's time to sell. This strategy aligns perfectly with our "OWN A YACHT FOR FREE" approach-enjoy top-tier yachting without the hefty financial aftermath. It’s all about picking the right boat that we can sell when you're done!

      Depends what your objective is what are you trying to do with your boat? you buy a fishing boat to go fishing you buy a flybridge to cruise, you buy a boat for the intended outcome.

    Great info! I’m a first time yacht buyer and you touch in all the areas I want to know but more in-depth.
    1) Putting the yacht in LLC and using it for 50% of its time for “business” chartering it etc for full write off. Is there charter companies that hand the entire charter process booking, crew, payment etc?
    2) I live in California. However the Mangusta 108 we are looking at is in Miami. Should we keep it Miami or move it to California for when we charter? I am thinking we will be able to rent it more often from Miami then Let’s say Newport Beach/ San Diego. Would like to know best areas to keep charters in your opinion.
    3) Also should we registering the US or George Town like most yachts for tax reasons.
    4) More info on cost of maintenance and cleaning. Like how much a ft does it cost to wash a yacht and how often you should wash it. How about painting the bottoms of the yacht once a year etc. The little things like that are missed and not talk about as much.

      And it’s funny because we are looking at Neoprene it self since it’s been retrofit and ready to go for us.

    • @MrYachts
      @MrYachts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Vince! Thanks for the great feedback. I'm glad you found the information helpful - this is precisely the reason for the Mr.Yachts channel - too add value to people interested in yachting vs. just doing pointless walkthroughs on boats :) That said I love Neoprene and was on her the other day with the owner who is actually a dear friend of mine and was one of my very first clients when I sold one of the first VanDutch yachts in the United States to him. But first to answer your questions:
      1) I always recommend to my clients to put their new yacht in an LLC. There are a couple of reasons for this with the most obvious one being the corporate veil with regards to liability. With regards to the tax write-off I would recommend you consult with a qualified tax attorney to give you proper advice but the short answer is that there is a structure that exists to depreciate an asset that is being rented out. I don't know the tax law well enough to get into details but I can certainly point you in the right direct of some good attorneys that can help you when you are ready.
      I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you ask: "Is there charter companies that hand it 100% for from crew, insurance when there client books with them etc." but if you're asking about if there are companies that handle the entire charter process then yes, there are plenty of Yacht Charter Management companies that handle everything from the bookings, the bookkeeping, crew selection, contracts, escrow, the calendar, etc...

    • @MrYachts
      @MrYachts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vincelombardi2669 Neoprene refit is gorgeous. That yacht is actually a great value because it's way past it's depreciation curve and the previous owner put a lot of money back into it to make it perfect so essentially you're buying a yacht with a replacement value of $10m for 1/4 the price. Now all you have to do is budget your ownership costs and put her on a charter program that covers those and you'll essentially be owning a yacht for free if all is done properly!

      not sure what you are trying to get at... idk about you but I spend each morning walking up and down the docks of my. local marinas, scour the web for recent listings, constantly analyze the market, and know what the best deal is for my buyers or my sellers... I do this for free. free meaning in the event that I bring a buyer and seller together and am able to negotiate terms based on the aforementioned, I get paid based on the success of the deal. are you implyingour that yacht brokers get paid for no reason? because that's what your comment implies... let me make it very clear to you, not all yacht brokers are the same, there are some that work very hard to produce sales. it's very easy to say in hindsight that a broker wasn't needed but I spend every waking hour of my day focused on yachts. NOBODY can out negotiate me. the best you could ever hope to do is meet me halfway. that's how I EARN my commission. I want you to read that again because every time I walk through a marina everybody on every single boat says hello to me and tells me the industry goodie because that's part of the job. IDK what you do but I can guarantee that I work harder than you. If you don't believe me I'll prove it to you.
