These 7 Secrets have, so far, consistently kept me in the Top 1000. I am on PlayStation, so Rank "1000" might translate differently on other platforms, but the goal is to consistently get 4000+ moonstones every week. During the years I played Covet Fashion, I founded a Facebook group called the Covet Fashion School for Beginners, with 7000 members, where I led a team of awesome stylists whose sole purpose in the group was to provide sample collages and styling advice to newer players to help them improve their designs and consequently their scores. We were so successful at doing this that we kept an album of all the lovely thank you notes we got from them. In this video, I aim to provide similar advice in Dreamlight Valley to players who are looking to improve their DreamSnaps.

My tip as a photographer is also to create depth. Put something nice to look at in the foreground or the edges of the picture to make the viewer feel the depth of the photographed space. This adds to the framing as well! When taking pictures outside, try to use a horizon somewhere in your frame. Having something very close and very far will automatically create interest and help the eye focus on things instead of feeling like everything in your Pic looks the same. Highly agree to making sure it works on smaller devices! I like to take a quick photo of my submission with my phone to be able to see it very small. Things like empty spaces and too dark or bright areas are visible way easier. A lot of great advice in this video that I will definitely use as well!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!! But you forgot to mention that you are obviously very artistically talented 😊 it takes a great eye to see a catching composition and a great mind to visualize what to create! This is for sure an art form 😉
Aww thank you very much 💖 Great to have some input from a real photographer! I totally do the same thing with checking the smaller pic (I always take a screenshot on my PS5 which goes to my PS mobile app) so I can share it on Instagram or wherever, and it's also a great way for me to still see the previous version if I'm doing a revision, bc I can't check it in the middle of staging without exiting camera mode. 😅 Good luck on your DreamSnaps!
@@BrandywineStyleeven more great tips, thanks 😂😉 I would love to know what you think about using already made scenes from the game, like taking a picture in one of the realms? Do you think it always needs to be a handmade scenery to be top 5%? And how close to the given theme should we be? For example, I would love to make an indoor scene for this weeks critter love theme, but we can't use critters inside... Would it be enough to use stitch as a pet lol?
Great question! I have personally seen people voting on their streams (and in the comments of my own stream) who won't vote for character houses or realms (even if it's an outfit challenge). There's too much competition and with people really bringing their A-game, a realm shot may lose votes against entries that have put in significantly more effort. Of course if it's nicely composed it will win against "yard sale" photos but may struggle otherwise. As for handmade, there are upsides & downsides to having my valley fully decorated. Upside: I can usually find a nice scene to take my photo and only make small tweaks to either fit the theme (or make room for requirements). Downside: I don't have ANY space to stage something entirely from scratch (except inside, where I can easily use an empty room).
My guess for this round is that outdoor pics with lots of critters will do well, so if you only have Stitch it might struggle a bit. There may be ways around that, like placing stuffed animals or animal-related themes/objects. It's always a risk going in a different direction, but sometimes it can pay off, so it just depends what's more important to you: the rank or creative freedom. We had an unspoken rule in my other fashion games to always go with your gut, bc sometimes you'd play it "safe" (rigidly on theme, not too out of the box) and score *badly anyway* then regret it, bc you conformed for nothing! 😂@@emiliana1767

I just got the chance to watch this . Great video and I second all these tips! I’ve managed to get 4K moonstones every week so far and rank in the top couple hundred multiple times. I always think of lighting and location first especially. Also one thing I do to get the right shot is to figure out my angle first. So I will take a few of the bigger items I know I want to use and place a few and go into to photo mode and play with the able. Then I will add and adjust some items and go back into photo mode. I find this really helps bc I could design a whole area but when you go into photo mode it’s a whole different perspective. It also helps with making sure there isn’t too much empty space. And once I’m done I save my photo and send it to my phone so I can make sure it looks good on a smaller screen bc like you said, some people have smaller screens.
Yes, absolutely! Definitely helps to get a feel for how much of the area would (or should) fit into the shot and then adjust as you go to get things in or out of the frame as desired. 😀
I like your last point. Have fun! I aim for 1200-1500 moonstones every week, but one time i only got 600 moonstones even though i was really proud of my picture and i had put a lot of thought into it. I had to remember that 350 moonstones a week was the max we used to get by collecting the chests, so anything above that I am grateful for!
Absolutely! Getting the 4k (and of course anything above that) is great and I def try to aim for that, but I always keep in mind that we can't win 'em all and something is better than nothing! ☺
Great video!!! All of your tips are spot on! GENIUS tip about the staging!!!! I love that! Fencing off the whole biome?!?! I would have never thought of doing that, but it is going to be so helpful next time I want to avoid characters in my dreamsnaps submission!!! Thank you! :) One thing I will add for outfit challenges in general (and forgive me if you mentioned this and I missed it somehow) do NOT use selfie mode for outfit challenges. If someone cannot see your full outfit, they are less likely to vote for it (especially if yours is up against a similar outfit and you can see their full outfit). Another thing I try to avoid is holding a companion if it covers up my outfit or viewing an outfit from behind because you can't see any makeup, jewelry or the front of the outfit. I have watched different content creators voting and saying very similar things so it's just something to consider! :)
Yes absolutely, you’re right! I did realize later that I mentioned in the Tea Party section that selfies block the background, but not that they also block your outfit 😂 Hopefully people will catch on! So glad you liked the video, and good luck on your Snaps! 🙌🏽
Absolutely right… put Pua down guys! We know… we all love all the cuteness that is Pua, but put him down, he blocks the outfit, as do the turtles (and even the others if the angles aren’t right). No selfies, and no Pua. 😂

Fantastic tips! I do a lot of these but I picked up a few good points here, thank you! My biggest pet peeve when voting is *empty space*, especially in the foreground. Figure out where the corners and bottom of your frame are hitting and decorate the foreground. Something as simple as part of a bush or some greenery peeking in can make a huge difference. No yard sales, don’t smack down 5 items and stand in front of them, with wide open grass or floor in front of you. If you have a lot of empty space, either fill it in, or change the frame to the smaller square, that’s totally ok too. 👍👍
Hey girl! Janey from IG here! Omg this is SUCH a good and helpful video! Blocking the biomes/areas off so the villagers can’t invade the photos is genius and gonna be a life saver for me! Also the tip about using the dream fruit/books from Olaf’s quest for the sparkles is also a great idea! Definitely gonna be using these tips for my dreamsnaps now! I love the idea of framing! I’ve never thought to do that. And now that I think about it, the one time I scored high it was framed but by accident
Great tips! Especially over editing, I'm ADHD & tend to hyper-focus, so i have to stay mindful of this for real. 💕
I just wanted to add for any players on Switch (I primarily play on this but also have it on my Xbox for playing multiplayer when it releases one day), use your dock & the pro controller. I rarely use my Switch for this when it's not docked to my TV. It is just too small & the joycon thumbsticks are way too finicky.
For the dreamy kitchen challenge, I started to view my submission on the undocked Switch as well as my phone to make sure the design translates well between size formats. I ranked 37 on this challenge, which was amazing bc my ranking prior had bounced between 1200 to 14000 in all the others.
Day one of this game and I don’t know any players that play this so thank you for helping us on the dream snap aspect 😊

I been playing DDV for two years now but just started doing the Snaps for the last three weeks and already obbbbsssesssed! Having played the Sims I love that it satisfies my decorating itch and the moonstones are nice! It’s quickly become my ADHD hyperfixation lol but it took me a while to figure out how to actually submit it due to my overthinking. Switch player here and that is a great tip to consider other screens and not over obsess and have fun 😂 I def guilty of multiple edits & second guessing!!!

This was very helpful. Thank you. I didn’t really put much thought into the first few and got low scores. Rainbow I did a little more and got 1500 (I was thrilled). Then I thought I did good with Dreamers unite and didn't do so well. Forget me not was great, I already had an amazing decoration for that it was the first thing i did in the game but then kitchen I thought i did great but then back to mediocre score. I have seen the Dapper snaps and think I did great in comparison, we'll see. I worked extra hard & got feedback on the critters and I'm happy with what I'm submitting but I am looking forward to using these things intentionally.

It can definitely be a roller coaster experience and with it being such a new feature to the game, we don't fully understand the voting algorithm or even exactly what scores well and why. In past games, we gave up trying to figure it out after years of seeing mediocre entries get high scores and breathtaking ones score badly. 🙈Hopefully we will get more data as time goes on, but meanwhile we are the guinea pigs. 😅 Hope some of the tips help out and best of luck on your Snaps!

Thank you for all the tips for the dreamsnaps. I would remember specially the book idea and the „stove“ from the lion king an put them together in the forgotten land. I know my books sparkled at the beginning too but now they don’t sparkle anymore. I put them down and now I can’t take them up or remove them in decorating mode, can’t put them on any table so I have to hide them somewhere. I am playing on a steamdeck and haven’t tried anything to solve the problem on pc because it is broken. Just to let the people know that they get not into the same trouble. Perhaps it is only a bug on steamdeck but be careful. Greetings from Germany 😊
Yessss I just recently noticed that my books don’t sparkle any more either 😭 And same, can’t pick them up. A friend messaged me and said she used the Dreamlight fruit tip instead since the books no longer work. 😢 Hopefully they fix it otherwise the books are stuck on the ground. 🤦🏽♀️ Maybe I’ll add a note to the description just in case. I might’ve gotten into a habit of second guessing and over editing my submissions. I try not to take it personal whenever my submissions don’t go well. It’s just kinda hard for me overcome those feelings. I know they’re supposed to be fun.

Dept is definetly a winner and also the outfit definte, you need to have a surrounding that shows your outfit out. Having just your outfight we no backfround is a bit of a "naked" surounding will not work, i thing, only my opinion
