Stellar Haul/Update as usual Donny, a great star-studded extravaganza. I still need to pick up the Red Box edition of Arrow's Bruce Lee set, he's fascinated me ever since I saw a documentary on him as a kid. All his movies are good, Fist of Fury and The Big Boss are probably my favorites of his Hong Kong days, Way of the Dragon needs to grow on me a little more, but the fight between Lee and Chuck Norris in the Colosseum is amazing. That 4-Hour video essay sounds like it'll be a blast. Sonny Chiba is a cool Martial Artist too, not the level of Lee, but he's in the top 5 and ten for sure. I'm running way behind on my Japanese film pickups; so many films to see, so little time. I'm having a blast with Cynthia Rothrock's Hong Kong work, and Lady Reporter is a release I'll be picking up soon and adding to the collection, she's amazing. I got my Cosa Nostra set directly from Radiance films too, and what a set it is. Definitely hang on to those defective discs btw, my Dad told me that vinyl, CDs, DVDs, and Blu Rays with factory errors become valuable in the future as there will be a limited number of them eventually. I also mentioned it in my collection update video I did a couple of weeks ago. Arrow's Blood Money boxset arrived at my place nearly two weeks prior to release day, I was so surprised and excited, such an excellent set. Last summer I had picked up the last brand-new copy of the long out of print Django box from Koch Media (now Plaion Pictures) that had the Gianni Garko/Claudio Camaso Westerns, and a third so-so Western, thinking Blu Rays were in indefinite limbo, but now I can proudly own both. Claudio Camaso always reminded me a little of Oliver Reed for some reason, but he's the spitting image of his brother Gian Maria Volonte for sure. 10,000 Dollari per un Massacro is the better film of the Garko/Camaso double bill, but the spiritual sequel has a lot of good stuff going for it. I'm saving the other two films for Spagvember Fest, where members of the SWDb forum spend the month of November watching a Spaghetti Western a day. Take care my friend, hope you're well, and speak to you soon.
Thanks, Steve! The Bruce Lee set is incredble. It's certainly the definitive Bruce Lee release ever. That 4-hour video essay is definitely worth it. I've never seen such a complete and detailed video essay. "So many films to see, so little time..." true words, buddy. Love Cynthia Rothrock! Really enjoying her Hong Kong work and I can't wait to see more of her. I still have all of the defective discs, never got rid of any of them. I didn't know that they're going to be valuable in the future. Thanks for letting me know. Never heard of Spagvember Fest, but it sounds like fun. Similar to watching a horror film every month in October. Anyway, thank you very much for your wonderful comment, my friend. Take care!
Hi Donny, I guess the Gods were shining down on us with our Exclusive Bruce Lee Golden Harvest sets & in them arriving in perfect shape, & with yours having two journeys, look after yours as its between £250-600 😮😱 & what a set it is, make sure that the first disc you watch is The Final Game of Death, i also have watched "Marlowe" many years ago. Its been many years since i last watched "Showdown in Little Tokyo" i have that Sonny Chibia Executioner movie set in my watch pile, i was late on that "Jaws 2" collectors edition, & missed out on it, easily the best sequel in the series. I"ll eventually pick up that Franco Nero set, totally forgot about it 😬, Arrow Video keep surprising us yet again with their releases, $10,000 for a Massacre" & "Vengeance is mine" two spaghetti western movies that i"ve always wanted getting released, two underrated rare gems from the genre. "Find a Place to Die" is one that i never added to the collection so its good to get a new title, lets hope for a third set 🙏enjoy your movies. Take care, speak soon my friend.👍
Hi Carlos, Yes, I guess you're right. We got very lucky with our copies of the Bruce Lee sets. I've seen the prices sellers are asking for... ridiculous! I saw The Final Game of Death the other day and I've never seen a more complete video essay than that. It tackles every known detail about what could've been Bruce Lee's masterpiece. How I would've loved to watch that movie. Oh well, the video essay is the closest thing we're ever going to get to it. Sorry you missed out on the Jaws 2 set. Hopefully you'll find one for a decent price. The Cosa Nostra and Blood Money boxsets are amazing. Us collectors are being spoiled quite a bit lately. Anyway, thanks for stopping by, my friend. Take care!
Fantastic haul once again Donny 👏 the arrow exclusive Bruce Lee set has to be in the running for release of the year! Radiance is putting out some outstanding releases also, I have not seen any film in that Cosa Nostra set so I’ll certainly have to check that out. Hope you are well buddy and having a great weekend 🙌🎥🍿
Cheers, Steven! Arrow really went above and beyond with the Bruce Lee boxset. This has got to be the best 4K Blu-ray release of 2023. Thanks again for nominating me for Non-Horror TH-camr of the Month 😉👍
Cool. Thank you.
