    Got this soon as it was released and my initial impression is that I love it. What I have done so far with both snare and vocal was to first let the AI do its thing and then I move the 4-way puck about half way up and to the left, then I adjust the wet setting to about 35% with the dry 100%. What is most striking for me is adjusting the color slowly all the way up and down and it moves the perceived depth of the sound from far away to very close. Uncanny. I am reverb challenged, using and tweaking presets, but this gives me a sense of very good control using only the AI, four-way puck, reverb time, and wet-dry mix. I am rarely this pleased with a plugin.

  • @The_Doc_Rocks
    @The_Doc_Rocks 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It's now 3 years later and the two points about this video that struck me are these:
    1. You left the Width on 15 after the first 4 minutes or so, in effect leaving it almost mono. But it still sounds good.
    2. I suspect this would be more useful on a track-by-track basis, rather than on a send-return Aux loop. If it is adapting to its input, then having multiple sends with different types of audio and at different levels, may make for a messy reverb overall. But having it on multiple different tracks, with each setting its own AI parameters could also result in a mish-mash of reverb in the mix. Hard to know the best place for it in the grand scheme of things.
    I love Sonible's stuff, and I have their Smart EQ, Compressor, and Limiter, but I'm not so sure about this one, or where it would sit in a mix.

  • @bankof442
    @bankof442 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I haven't tried it as a reverb in the mix yet, but made some creative, cool sounding short reverb trails from the snare that wouldn't have been possible without bouncing down and adding more processing. The scope for the creating interesting sounds in a short time is immense and I don't think there is another reverb like it on the market.
    I'm sure it would help get your standard reverb sitting better in the mix as well.

    The core reverb algorithm sounds really wonderful on this. A bit surprised how good to be honest. I use the Valhalla stuff A LOT, but could see a lot of uses for this flavor. The visualizations for controls are nice too, especially for someone used to doing sound design in soft synths with similar layouts. Main problem is...I already have way more reverbs than I use ;)

      Samulululuu it looks like the reverb is split into discreet bands feeding a frequency dependent granular engine. That’s really clever. So rather than each grain containing a complete segment of audio, you have many times more grains and each grain has a slither of audio within a band of the audio spectrum. This means you automate each grain differently based on the frequency band a grain is servicing. That’s why you have to have user variable grid display to give you easy control of ‘frequency banded’ audio grains over time. I hope I explained that clearly enough. I

      That argument would work except it sounds pretty damn amazing to me, haha. And to me visuals always enhance the creative experience and inspire me in ways that I could not have achieved any other way.

      @@jamesbradford1153 Exactly , Like anyway we are going to check the mix with eyes closed or something like that . If something sounds off , we can realise at that time . And like you said the visual extavaganza adds to the creative mind .

    So, to make the engineer's job easier Sonible have employed A.I. Now the engineer has MORE parameters to consider and even after using it for 10 minutes, he still doesn't understand what he's done. My question is: how exactly is the A.I. reducing the workload for the user? It seems to be introducing more complexity.

      That’s like saying a car is useless because you’d have to learn how to drive first and in that time you probably could have walked to the store and back.. 🤣 Point is, some things that can make things easier and faster still require some time to learn how to use it first, it might take you a day (or 2) but you could probably get that time back multiplied by a lot if it really improves your workflow. I’m not saying that this plugin does though, have yet to try it put for myself.

    idk, whenever i try or use sonible plugins (got entropy eq and frei raum as freebies some time ago) in FL i always need to use the vst3 version and enable some debug settings to avoid the plugin crash the whole session really bad. On top of that i can't recall session settings of entropy eq. So yeah whenever i see an ew sonible plugin i say to myself "yeah that's very cool" but in the end i would never purchase one cause on my system they are very instable. Dunno if i'm the only one that has this behaviour

      Hey you can write them your problem, maybe they can help you... i have the smart eq2 and the smart comp and like them very much... i use FL too and with the smart eq2 had a lot of problems... it was like the track on wich the eq was had a delay or extreme latency and was out of sync... i wrote them and they answered... on the plug in settings there is a processing tab and then i should click on fixed buffer size... since then no problems anymore

      Throw a saturator or tape emulation in after it to warm it up and maybe roll off some of the high end a bit.

      @TjMoon91 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think it’s trying to sound like a natural acoustic reverb. But I’m sure it would sound a lot warmer if he didn’t have the ‘Clarity’ and ‘Color’ so high. He also has the ‘width’ set to 15 for most of the video. I bet sonible are happy he shows off their reverb pretty much in mono.
