    Excellent demonstration. Most don't show or have a clue on how to dial it in. You have mastered it. Sounds fantastic in my mastering applications. Thanks!

    I also use the VLA but in a seperate channel in my DAW as an insert, so you CAN make it a paralel compressor, works great!.

    Yes you can, if the sidechain is not inputted, I believe the right output level becomes a mix knob

    Really good demo of this killer piece of gear
    I use it in my studio inserted on the SubMix of my Mackie VLZ4 mixer (a really cool one) for spicing up my monitoring N adding warmth to my guitar multiFX recording ...it prevents the peak (leveler) N gives a very pleasant Glue effect to the takes... I've also changed the tubes for 2x ENGL ECC83 which I had in a a ENGL E530 Tube Preamp ...the tone has more punch/dynamci/headroom N tube saturation ...im planning to add a Image Exciter from SPL or Aphex N to buy the ART Pro Channel II Channel Strip which is also really good IMO...

    Ive heard the original tubes sound great. Ive also heard and read that changing the tubes doesn't make much of a difference. I purchased this unit a few months ago, and I love it.

    These Chinese tubes are the best tubes that you can find in today’s new tube market. Better than new Telefunken (not NOS!) They have the best sound and build quality. The tube tech Cl1b uses the same tubes.

    This is not a real tubes compressor, it's an opto compressor with tubes output gain stage... But it's a great compressor for the money!

  • @stevend984
    @stevend984 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got one of these units and could not get it to stop buzzing. I tried everything, so I sent it back believing it was defective and ordered another one. Guess what...same problem! This cannot be an isolated case. Either way I popped for a Warm Audio unit instead...and guess what...NO NOISE! Thanks for wasting my time ART!

      @@WanderingRobotStudio Indeed it does "Sound" like a ground issue...but all the rest of my gear has no issue...but also no tubes. Very frustrating.

    Could you use this as like a final mix bus-glue for mastering sorta thing?

    • @WanderingRobotStudio
      @WanderingRobotStudio  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would not use it for mastering, and I'm not sure I'd use it as a mix-wide bus compressor. Def a good drum-bus or similar bus compressor.

      So its good for per channel and not the full mix?
      I’m setting up for home karaoke (played off TH-cam karaoke) and want one just for 2 mics…. Want great sounding vocals.
      Good for it?

  • @AnthonyRochester
    @AnthonyRochester 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think you're doing too much extreme gain reduction, I set it to only reduce gain above a threshold, you've got it constantly above the threshold. I know it's a soft knee but I think it works better when you raise the threshold. I use it for tracking.

    • @WanderingRobotStudio
      @WanderingRobotStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also wanted to show how it sounds totally smashing it's input. The full range of compression from light to heavy.

    • @WanderingRobotStudio
      @WanderingRobotStudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love both. I don't prefer one over the other. The DBX is spanky, great on drums. The VLA is warmer, great on background vocals and mixes.

    how does the sound quality compare with the wa76

    • @WanderingRobotStudio
      @WanderingRobotStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The harder the VLA is pushed, the more saturated the sound gets as opposed to the wa76 which ends up sounding super squished.
