That’s a ton of eggs! Nice to know they go to a local bakery. My 5 hens are just over 11 weeks and starting to get their clucking voice. I’m looking forward to collecting my own few eggs in a couple of months. I live not very far from your farm. The heat has made it a challenge to keep the hens cool. Thanks for the video. 😁
That is so satisfying 😍😍
My chickens have started laying,I got 3 eggs today and the feeling is amazing 😍
Thanks for the video
Thank you for watching and congrats on the eggs! That is exciting!
I learned to not have loyalty to any one feed if I get decreased egg production. After months of almost no eggs, I switched feed and got 90% egg production after one week.
How much does the bakery pay you for 60 dozen eggs.
Hey Chris. We sell our eggs for $5 a dozen.

Thank you Karen!
Do you charge wholesale prices to the bakery.
Yes, we did.
@@mountainspringhomestead I’ve got 155 egg layers, soon to be laying this summer. A diner will be buying most of them.
Thats awesome! Best of luck to you!

i recently just got into poultry keeping, i have 5 black australorps and 2 rhode island reds, all around the same age, one of my reds and australorps started laying fairly recently and it’s always fun to go in and collect the eggs, my red gets broody from time to time but i just gently move her and grab the eggs and she goes back to normal
Becareful! Before you know it, you'll have 50! Lol, best of luck to you!
@@mountainspringhomestead yea! at first i just had the reds and then i compulsively bought the other 5 and i love them all, they are so adorable and precious to watch them grow
Why do you have to close the nesting box? Is it just to keep them from breaking the eggs?
We close them so they don't sleep in them and poop In them. That way we can have the cleanest eggs possible the next day. 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to reply. That makes sense@@mountainspringhomestead
Wow omg that's alot of eggs
Why did u have so many rabbits just there?

Awesome! Our chickens are getting close to laying!
Satisfying to watch

May I know what type of chicken this is?
There was a rooster trying to jump a hen
Hello my friends
Fantastic!!! I'm hungry!
60 dozen! Wow!
Like it👍👍
Question. I live in Pensacola Florida. Have 3 hens and one rooster. Right at 4.9 months and I seen my rooster just up on one of my girls today.
My question is when my girl starts laying and since the chances of my rooster mating with her do I need to get her up and move her so she doesn’t sit on them and they hatch? Like the only way these fertilized eggs will hatch is if she sits on em right? We don’t want babies we just wanna collect the eggs. Thanks.
You will always have broody hens wether or not you have a rooster, but yes you are correct in the only way they will hatch is if you allow her to lay on them and they are in fact fertilized. It's a chore to break them of their Broodiness, but you will just have to stay on top of it. Collecting eggs early in the day, collecting them multiple times a day, and making sure you are closing the nesting boxes every night will all help!
@@mountainspringhomestead we just have 4. Three hens and a rooster so checking their nesting boxes daily won’t be an issue. Even if they want to sit on the eggs I need to just reach under her and get em. Encourage her to get up and get exercise, food and water….am I on the right track?
@@Pcola_drone Yep, that is exactly correct! Good luck!
@@mountainspringhomestead ohhh and we have a nice half acre. One side of our home grows bamboo. My mmm the chickens love laying and doing stuff up under the bamboo. I like em hanging around it too but what’s stopping my girls to lay up in the bamboo? The coop I built is 4x4. Nice walls. Talk. I bartend so in the morning I let ‘em out when I wake up. Sometimes at 7 am or sometimes at 10 am. At night they go right up in it and wait for us to shut the door on em. So they happy in the coop but I just don’t want them laying eggs out in the yard.
@@Pcola_drone yeah, its a pain when they lay wherever they want!
