Reggae Falls fee fury | Vendors, operator clash over $500 entrance fee

MARCH 1, 2024: A dispute is brewing between the operator of the popular Reggae Falls in Hillside, St Thomas, and some vendors at the facility who are opposed to a $500 entrance fee he has instituted for the use of the facility.
For years, patrons visiting Reggae Falls used the facility for free, but this changed when Antonio Porter lease the facility and implemented a $300 entrance fee three years ago. The rate, which is only charged on weekends, was recently increased by $200 per person.
Porter told THE WEEKEND STAR that the fee structure was implemented to help him cover the overhead costs of operating and maintaining the facility.

You need money to build facilities, maintain the falls and for security. Build up Jamaica man! I don’t think one man should manage this falls. You need a committee.
Charging a fee shouldn't be a problem overhead expense litter etc, vendor sell free why should they fight against the man if he is putting measure in place.if government take it they will be evicted R reclocated 😮 trouble.

Solution: put up a restroom and allow ppl to pay to person that maintains it.
Mr. PORTER has the vision to organize and right idea for the development and positive financial benefits to the community and tourism employment.. without charging a fee, even the vendors should pay a monthly fee/lease and be GRANDFATHER...it will be BENIFICIAL for ALL.. GOOD long term don't come from leaving a little thing.
