- While most tourists travel to the south of Spain, I decided to explore its north. And I didn't regret it AT ALL 🤩 The nature of Basque country just took my breath away. I talked to locals about life in Bilbao and its area, tasted local wine and tapas (or better to say pintxos!) and visited places from famous series Game of Thrones. Are you ready to explore it together?

In my opinion, there is a difference between Pinxtos and tapas. Tapas are generally smaller and less elaborate. Tapas are sometimes free with the drink and are designed to fit on top (tapar) a glass. Pintxos aren't free in most places I've been. If you were drinking sidra or xacoli the reason why it wasn't carbonated because you have to have it poured from 1 meter or so and drink it immediately. The aeration is what makes it refreshing and gives the bubbles.
If Ireland would have a child with Spain it would look like Basque Country 😆
It is because Basque Country has a lot of Celtic influence
There was a group of Celts that lived in Spain we now refer to as the Celtiberians. You can see the influence in Galicia, which you can see shares its named with Gaelic.
Spain + Italy = Argentina
Amazing Basque Country. The fog adds so much atmosphere to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe 😍.
True!!!
Dari, you scratched off your bucket list with the beautiful sights, cultural significance and food of the Basque Country. A pity if tourists miss it! It has so much to offer and people who only visit central Spain and Barcelona aren’t appreciating everything there is to discover there. Thanks for the video and take care, remain safe and be blessed! 😊
I definitely agree with you ☀️
Thank you for another beautiful video. This region of Spain is so picturesque. The landscape is breathtaking! 😍
I absolutely agree 🙏🏼
Basque Country has 7 provinces: 4 under Spain and 3 under France, so our different citizenships don't represent because they don't define as we are, Basque, our soul.
Hi Dari,
As always another great video.
Thanks again for sharing.
Many cheers! :)
My please ))
Another awesome video, Dari! I’m really impressed by the way the people of the Bilbao area have transformed their industrial city into a beautiful, vibrant place to live and visit.
Me too!
Great video, I love Game of Thrones so it was cool to see parts of where it was filmed. Have fun hun.
The Basque Country looks very interesting and beautiful landscapes. I'd like to visit some day.
How can anyone not love Spain after viewing this video? Thank you for your gorgeous camera work.
I have no idea how someone can not to love Spain 😭
The Basque Country is not Spain
It isn´t Spain, but the Basque country. quite different from Spain indeed.
@@andrew19869Another one who missed real history schools.
Que hay en este video que te recordar a España? El País Vasco es muy diferente a España y no solo por el idioma o la cultura. La propia sociedad es distinta. No voy a decir q sea mejor o peor, pero sí diferente.
The scenery looks amazing!
So many beautiful places. Thank you for sharing them with us!
I love this! Getting the local opinions is always fascinating.
Beautiful shots. Love your videos. Thank you for sharing! 😍
Beautiful country! Thanks for showing it to us.
Basque country and Bilbao area are really beautiful. It seems that it is definitely worth visiting there for a few days. The street interviews were very interesting, good job. The site of Game of Thrones looked so atmospheric in the fog, actually it looked so similar that way with the scene you showed from the series. Thanks for this interesting video Dari.
Thanks for the nice words ☀️
Great job Dari! I liked the video very much
Thanks for sharing this part of the world with your viewers!!!❤️❤️❤️ I completely understand getting emotional when seeing other people's pets while traveling, and yours are so far away at home.💙💙💙
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Outstanding job! The interviews with the locals were really interesting! Also, great job with editing!
Thanks a lot James ☺️
Dari, excellent video! Thank you for your hard work and thank you for taking me along on your adventure.
My pleasure ☺️
Thanks for showing us around Dari some beautiful towns around there and interesting to hearing what the locals have to say, good idea interviewing them, hope your keeping well, another interesting video take care and safe travels
My please 🙏🏼
Beautiful scenery! Worth seeing❤. Thank you for sharing 😊.
Thanks for watching!
How Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing the Basque country/region Dari ❤
A very interesting and Amazing video. You did a great job introducing both cities and country sides etc.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it 🙌🏼
Very nice finish to the video, and so glad you got to spend quality time with your friends too.🕊️
Really good to get the opinions of locals about their unique Basque culture. Great stuff. So much to explore here - the symbology on the old architecture looks really amazing and different to most other Euro cities. The street trees give off a kind of gothic effect. Very fitting to have the House of the Dragon filmed within this super ancient culture. Pretty rugged and amazing coastline as well. Thank You for the insights. Yet another major destination I want to explore and live in for a while - I would spend a lot more time than a day in these Basque towns and cities.
Thanks!
The fact you made a better than Travel channel level video with just yourself and a Lavalier Mic is amazing, your friendly and open personality helps.
Thank you 🙌🏼
That was a great watch Dari. Really enjoyed the foggy landscape and those walled steps from the TV show. Your idea to interview locals was also great as you picked some nice people to chat to. Great new style!
Thanks, Alan!
I love this beautiful video!! Basque country is so very beautiful. This is the most I have ever seen of it, and I am very impressed. The food certainly looks very tasty, too. Thank you for this wonderful treat!!
Thanks for your comment :)
Hi Dari,
Always enjoyed your travel videos. Keep up the great work, and wishing you the best!
Thanks, will do 😊
Visually stunning! Thank you a great travel experience without traveling.
and most people just travel through this area without exploring it to get to the South and South East, what a shame its so beautiful thanks Dari great work as usual...
It's so beautiful, thanks for sharing!
Very beautiful beaches & mts. Love the tour of the cities.
Nice! Thanks for sharing, looks like a great experience!
Such an interesting contrast of old and new architecture and terrain. Beautiful
True!
Another great video Dari thank you!
Another well crafted, well paced vlog, Dari! I'm so glad that you tried your hand at street interviews again. I enjoy the local perspective of the regional sites to visit, their history, culture, and food/drink. Hopefully, when you get more comfortable with talking to complete strangers, you will be able to have a larger cross section of interviewees. It will come in time. Practice, practice. 😁
Even though the rock pathways on the Spanish bluffs were shrouded in mist and fog from the sea, it made the place feel more magical and mysterious. Actually, I'm glad you got to experience it this way, Dari. Now you have an excuse to return when the area is more sunny. Bilbao seems nicer because it isn't quite so touristy and busy/crowded, which I don't like as much. I enjoy a slower pace when traveling. If I want a crush of people and the "joy" of waiting in long lines for attractions, I will go to a Disney theme park. LOL!
All in all, the coastal towns of the Basque country look amazing! I miss the coast and the ocean so much! You are lucky to be experiencing the world and all that it has to offer.
Thanks a lot for your great comment ☺️
@@DariStep 😊✌
Oh my goodness seeing you standing in the fog brought back a vivid memory of travelling by car from Carmel California down the Pacific coast highway called “ Big Sur”. That morning thick fog stopped us from seeing farther than a couple hundred feet of road in front of us. Apparently we should have left closer to noon when the fog starts to lift and you can actually SEE the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean and the coastline. Isn’t is frustrating when you have travelled far from home to visit a certain area of the world and bad weather screws up your trip, but you are not able to return the next day for a “re-do”, because you are travelling to a different location. Our family have had absolutely crazy experiences with car rental breakdowns, a big camper breakdown in the Rockies , a ferry strike while on PEI ( Prince Edward Island) in Maritime Canada, bad fog on The Cabot Trail in Cape Breton,Nova Scotia ,Canada, then a car tire catching on fire while travelling The Ring Of Kerry in Ireland. And Cameras breaking, and having no photos or movie clips of a university graduation , or a big World Boy Scout Jamboree in Alberta. Oh my god there were so weird things that happened to our family while on various holidays , so seeing you in the fog made me say right out loud “;Oh NO”, not fog! poor Dasha . I’ve been following you for the last 2 years and see so much growth in your TH-cam videos. Keep up the great work.
Great video Dari. You give a very nice summary of Basque country. It is beautiful there and the people seem to be very nice. Thanks Dari.
🙏🏼☺️
Yes. I do think this area is worth a re-visit. Thanks for the reminder Dari. Safe travels.
Lots of nice stone work and the citys are so clean
So amazing. Thank you!
Nicely done! Informative and interesting. Bravo! 👏
Thanks!
Dari, I so enjoyed your visit to the Basque Country, which is one of my favorite places. Watching your video brought back a 'Ton of Good Memories'. And I agree. If one travels to Spain, the Basque Country in the north is an unforgettable experience! 😆👍👍
It's about incredible!!!
The episodes in Spain with the distinct regions have made for some good episodes. Love the drone shots they give a feel for the larger environment. The interviews went well and I'm hoping they become a regular feature in the videos even if they can't all make the final cut due to their hit or miss nature. 👍
The moving camera editing was really well executed. Loved finding out about this area which I knew nothing about.
Great video, Dari. You have such a talent for this type of content.
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for always sharing your travels and insights. Most of your videos of late have stirred up a sense of wanderlust - hoping someday to be able to spend time traveling one of these years. For now it is work, work, work. Safe travels and fun adventures to you.
Thanks!
Nice tour of the highlights of the Basque Country.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable video, Dari. You have a talent of making one fully absorb what you're seeing and your thoughts along the way...time always flies when watching your travels!
You did a great job for impromptu street interviews 👏🏻 and I also really like your direct and honest opinions. If you like something, or don't like it, you're genuine about it!
The Basque Country looks amazing: scenic and green! You did a phenomenal job showing it off; it is remarkable how you've shown the uniqueness of Basque and Catalonia...two areas that have often been considered to break away on their own, and yet show how the Spanish culture melds in with it. Really well done, as usual. 👏🏻
Thanks a lot for the nice words ☺️
Fantastic landscapes; fantasric cities; exquisite food etc ; the paradise of travelers
True!
stunning. i typed in basque country as i have about 25 percent northern spanish/basque in me and this is so cool to see. thanks for making this :)
I'm so glad you went to the Guggenheim Museum!
Hi Dari, cool video. Like your attitude, positive spirit - keep up the video style!
It continues to amaze me how many beautiful places and cities there are in the world that many people never hear about. I never knew a city called Bilbao existed. I had to laugh when you tasted that white wine. At times one does not need to use words to describe something; your facial expression tells it all! That sandwich looked scrumptious. Watching you walk along that old wall where the Game of Thrones was filmed was amazing. The drone shots were very nice. Those small towns of Zumaia and Getaria and San Sebastian were charming. Another video well done!
Thanks, Harry!
This is really awesome, Dari! Thank you. Good food, seemingly friendly people, and beautiful (if a bit dangerous) views. Great job with your interviews. As someone who doesn't do well in public, asking perfect strangers random questions sounds like a nightmare to me. 😅 Kudos for actually doing it. 👍
Thanks!
Great video. I stayed 1 week in Donostia/San Sebastian for a Spanish course and it was super. It was easy to get around on buses and trains.
Thanks!
Hi Dari!..ThanksMuch!
I loved this!
I think I'll skip Paris and spend that time in Basque country, it seems far more relaxing, food looks fantastic and I understand more spanish than french.
You should 😍 it’s lovely there!
I ate food from this culture in the United States, as some people migrated to an area in Surrounding Elko Nevada.
Hi Dari, great job with the street interviews! I hope you'll kep it up. Of all the places you've visited, the Basque region is the one I'd most like to visit. Such beauty! I'm so jealous.🙂
You should definitely visit it!!!!
Oooh Basque - I've always wondered about that part of Spain The countryside views look amazing - without fog 😁
Great interviews, very interesting. Always good to know how the locals see their part of the world. Food and weather😂😂
That museum looks like a wonderful attraction
Great tour video
Thanks Dari
👋😁
Thanks for your comment Michael 😊
Wow! That setting looks just like the Game of Throne’s last season, I can’t see a damn thing that’s going. I’ve always wanted to visit Spain’s Basque country. You post confirms that I must go in the near future! Thank you and keep up the good work.
You shoould ☀️
France´s Basque country is also so beautiful, amazing beaches and incredible food.
Great video. Beautiful area!
Oh Dari, I do love it so. I want to go right now.
Absolutely amazing views thank you for filming and sharing! the written Basque language reminded me a bit of Mongolian.. 🙂 and the museum - wonderful.
Thank you Dari for showing this beautiful Sea Side Community. Lots of walking trails, Sea Views, Food and Attractions. PS, you have beautiful Eyes.
Thanks for watching :)
Nicely done indeed! 👏
Thanks!
Dasha, blessing for you. 🌹
Hello Dasha. Thank You for another awesome video. Everything about Spain is beautiful and wonderful. I liked the old town, fantastic! And where on earth could you be going next? On the airplane! Ahh, the suspense!🛩️🗺️
Merci!
Dasha, thank you for your honest videos from your side of the world. 🍻
My pleasure 😇
Fantastic video Dari..... I liked the interviews with the locals.... They can help you find the best places to visit... I used to drive to the South of Spain Many Many times and often drove through this area, but only using the Motorways.... The scenery is amazing, but from the Motorway it did look very Industrial..... I wish I had had time to see more..... Keep up the good work Dari.... :-))) xxxx
Hopefully one day you can visit it 🙏🏼
@@DariStep Bless you Sweet Lady but my traveling days are behind me.... I have visited over 34 countries on 4 continents, so for now I will enjoy watching your videos taking me to places that I have not seen.... I will relive my life through you....I wish you a wonderful time exploring the World.... it is an amazing place.... :-)))))))))) xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Great videos Dari.
This was a fantastically done video. My sister and I are planning a trip to see the Basque country specifically, in part because we have ancestry who were Basque.
Also I lived your humor with that foggy view. It was a clever joke 😂
Glad you liked it 😃
Great video!
Great job
Ohhh rhank you for this video!!! I wish i could go! I am basque and i have alot of basque in me. My last name is basque! Ysasaga
Amazing vieeo....i love all tour videos 😊

Most excellent.
Beautiful
Great video including the street interviews, food and wine tasting 😊
I did travel twice along the northern coast of Spain and may go back there again in summer, when the weather is fine. You should visit Cape Finisterre near La Coruna. It's the western end of the Eurasian continent. The eastern end is opposite Alaska on the Bering Strait 😉 This trip may take some time, but you can do it 😍
Thanks for recommendation ☺️
wow, what a documentary, TV team would not do it better. congratulations!
Thanks a lot!
In Turkey, we like to call Basques "Cave men of Europe "
🇹🇷❤️
Oh, really ? Is there a reason for that ? I fact I'm surprised that Turkish people pay attention to Basque people.
great people ..I would be proud
Wow. It's interesting to see how you act different in a climate that is warm like where I live in the USA on the beach
You just seem very radiant like your energy is now a tropical adventurer
It definitely makes people more easy going in my opinion
🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸love you❤ spain
From 🇮🇳
very interesting
I do love the street interviews, good idea and good questions. Were any of the people interviewed viewers of your vids? Northern Spain looks very nice from what you showed us at least.I live in a semi-arid desert region with 300 days of sun so the rain, fog and greenery would be a nice change for a time at least.
🤘
So wonderful 😊❤
Thanks!
"Jon Snow? Where are you, boy?" 😂 That made me laugh 😊 Another great video - thank you
Ahaha thanks!
@@DariStep De nada, y muchas gracias de Inglaterra :)
Nice job with the street interviews!
Thanks, Ben :)
Muy buén video...Gracias por presentarlo...Saludos desde EE.UU.
Well done Dari, I always preach doing things out of your comfort zone as often as is comfortable, I always chuckle listening to you as being Russian your English does not sound like any other Russian I know what part of Russia were you raised.
The camino de Santiago costal route passes along the coast there. It is much less popular than the French route so sometimes people confuse the "pilgrims" with homeless people.
Maybe you saw some yellow arrows, they are the waymarkers. I got crampons for my trip to corsica's GR20 hoping I wont need them, heavy and if there is still snow I will need more clothes.
You made me hungry.
No idea what tapas/pintxos is but, crab salad on blini it shall be.
