two problems, 1- There is no "BRRRRRRRRRRT" 2- it's really imprecise in my opinion i have used it and sometimes it just didn't hit enemies RIGHT on it's path..
There’s actually 3 problems. There’s no BRRRRRRT which is currently being looked into, it’s too imprecise, and to fix the precision you either give it explosive rounds (by turning the guns into autocannons) or giving it unguided rockets by combining the 110 eagle rocket into the strafing run.
I downloaded a mod that adds an A10 BRRRRRRT to it with the delayed sound, A10 jet engines and everything. It seriously makes a whole lot of difference to this stratagem.

best close support stratagem, have like close to zero friendly fire kills with it. (unlike the A-10) also btw, there is a mod on nexus that gives it the funny A-10 brrrrrrt gun
It actually has some awesome capabilities, but I think that the 110's are slightly better because they can one-shot tanks and are guided towards the biggest thing on the call area
big thing for me is that you can often lure a lot of enemies into a line to chase you, and then nail them with the strafing run. Rockets are great, but they dont have that "get off me" aspect of the strafing run. As you said though, the rockets are great for big/armored foes.

This is less of an A-10 strafing run and more like an actual fighter craft strafing with its gun. an "A-10" style run would be much more explosive. there are plenty of times that an A-10 doing a strafing run near friendlies has resulted in accidental friendly fire due to the danger close radius being so high on that gun.
Fun fact: the strafing run can one shot hulks if one of the bullets hits the head. and if you line it up with the bot fabricator's head open itll kill it too. I run it because of how many times I use it. I get like 20 to 30 uses out of it during the game.
The most satysfying thing you can do with it is: Destroying a whole row of dropships on destroy dropships missions. But its bad at clearing not so dense groups of enemies so i rareley use it... AH could give Eagle-1 machinegun pods on the wings so we get WIDER spread, imagine this stratagem tossed by 3 people side by side, it would be golorious

It definitely got the glow up right before the Escalation of Freedom update. Before, it really was hot ass. Negligible damage, weak penetration, less uses. But they juiced it up alongside the gatling barrage, and now they're actually both worth taking.
In my opinion, it needs a little buff, the strafe should be broader but still as deadly against bigger targets and, most importantly, it absolutely needs a BRRRRRRT
As someone who has been using it for the past 3 weeks, you can easily one shot chargers, but you have to throw it right under their head, as such the first burst that is most focused and strong hits the head and can one shot it
The best case scenario for it imo is when you are running away from a swarm, or getting chased by a lot of mobs in general, and you can score 30+ kills with 1 run
I'm glad people are actually talking about this. After the first comeback patch, it became viable. More charges, better damage and armor pen. It can't be used like a 500 or airstrike. It's a surgical tool. Precise. Effective. Reliable. When you push it out of that role it suffers. But when you use it just right, it does exactly what you need and feels fucking premium.
i've been using them for the last 3 days and can confirm as a bot diver myself, that they are one of the best options to destroy outpost, not only that, the reduced armor of the hulks make the strafe and run pretty ok to deal whit them and tanks can be destroyed very easily (specially the tank Shredders/tower Shredders that have a weak point behind the front armor), the AT ATs can take a lot of damage when you hit them in the right angle i played 1 match with them and now they permanently replaced my orbital barrage
I commeneted on a video a few weeks back talking about tue Eagle Strafing run. I suggested a rework of it - Reduce uses to 3, but with each run, the eagle loops round for a second & third burst. Totalling 9 bursts. Also, then add the A10 Warthog BRRRRRRRT sound 😊
I used to run this all the time starting out for its uses and team safety, but it gradually felt obsolete at higher levels with all the armored enemies. I didnt realize just how strong this got with the armor/fabricator rework. I definitely need to give it another chance.
what you forgot to say, its not meant to be a charger heavy killer BUT it will soften up chargers, hulks so you can proceed to kill them with your primary or whatever even works for bile titans and striders

I started using this instead of cluster bombs so I don’t have to worry about my “special” teammates that are ALWAYS somehow to the side of me. 10/10 very nice strategem
Cluster is pretty bad. Almost anything in better in most situations. It’s got a HUGE range and most of that range is typically empty. It also doesn’t close bug holes/fabricators or damage heavies (give or take past balance patch updates). The answer instead of cluster is airstrike. It can close multiple holes (3-4 with a throw), take out fabricators, single shot heavies, plus in most situations it does as well for total kill count. Sometimes on a flag raise mission where you have multiple breaches adjacent you can drop cluster in the middle and get two breaches at once. But, airstrike can do that sometimes, too. Cluster isn’t getting a lot of use (thankfully). Now it seems like orbital airstrike is the new strategem of choice for very new players to blow up teammates.
I wish we could toggle if it’s going to be a head out call vs a side strafe for eagle airstrikes. Sometimes I don’t want a wide napalm wall and just wanna cook everything in the canyon
I think the main issue is how thin it is, oftentimes when I throw it at a patrol and I will need to follow up still because it only slices a line in the middle. and so I often bring the regular eagle strike or 500kg instead. It doesnt have to be much, but just a slight spread on the bullets might be nice, as long as it can still kill the same enemies. I bring it on operations where I know spewers are frequent though as oftentimes their boulbus weakpoints can overlap on a strafing run line.
I love the Strafing run; However, there is a slight issue that makes it less effective than what it appears to be. It shoots a massive amount of rounds, BUT not all of those tracers are actual projectiles; In truth, only about 1/3rd of the tracers are actual projectile that deals damage. I think if AH upped the amount of actual projectiles in the ESR, it would make the Strafing run hit that level of A-10 power fantasy. Id also love a BRRRRRT or a VRRRRRRRT, as much as I love the A10 brrt, I almost feel like a VRRRRT similar to the F-16 20mm M61A1's sound would be more appropriate, saving the Brrrt for another stratagem thats similar to the ESR, but has an explosive payload with less uses.
It’s def best used like a supplementary grenade. I once had a game where it said I had 45 stratagem uses and I think most of them was because of this stratagem
As a primarily terminid player, this strategem just doesn't have the impact that it needs to secure a spot on my list. I need things that kill big baddies, stop floods, and can destroys structures over a large area. This does none of those things very well. It's also quite hard to aim at a moving target for the same reason it's one of the safer strategems up close.
@@redfish6549 It can be used with any build, sure, but the question is should your build use it over everything else in the game? We only get four strategems and sub-optimal selections can really reduce your effectiveness. In my opinion, the strafing run is just okay whereas strategems like the machine gun sentry (terminids) and 500kg are outstanding.
@@josephcauthen9448 Depends on playstyle, I guess. I play with no support weapon, all red stratagems, and sometimes a mech. My strafing run acts almost like a pseudo-support weapon and has gotten me out of sticky situations a lot. But you do you.
The orbital gatling covers more use cases, and as a lot of users here and elsewhere pointed out, the linearity makes it inconsistent. Fun but not a strong pick. No point in being spammable if it doesn’t save your ass enough, the cluster does a better job as a panic button.
becouse it was one of few things who got buffed , it used to not destroy structures , also would not even damage anything with heavy armor so was useless for enemies you want to have stratogem for.
Nah, if there are a lot of enemies and especially if they are coming from bot drops or bug breaches, they tend to form an arch, not a straight line, which is why I use eagle airstrike rather than strafing run.
If they changed it so eagle 1 did more of a low slow pass and fired more bullets I would definitely use it. I just want to see it rend and peel the flesh off chargers and titans

@@omegaentertainment01 there's a lot of catastrophically poor design choices like that. mechs have only 2 uses, but i have to wait like half an entire mission's time limit between call-ins? they're already limited, why put an additional restriction on top of it? same as orb laser, it's limited uses, if i want to be stupid and vomit all 3 of my uses out on the same outpost, i should be able to do that and then suffer through the rest of the drop being down 1 stratagem. instead you ALSO have a large cooldown between each of its limited uses. it makes very little sense.

Add more armor pen and copy past an A-10's "BRRRRT" and more people would use it. It becomes ineffective beyond level 5/6 difficulty due to 5+ Elite's on the field at all times.
The problem of this is the opportunity cost. I could take this, or any other of the large number of stratagems that can take out enemies I can't handle on my own. The airstrike is a more effective version of this on all levels except speed the 110MM rocket pods are godsent against tanks and the 500KG is the icon of Helldivers 2 stratagems for a reason. Just bring a decent weapon and tell the Eagle to pack more bombs for the big bads.
i really liked it from the start BUT, after the MASSIVE BUFF to it.. it is now an sbsolute beastly stratagem, and can take out ANY enemy, and VERY safe to use.. i bring it very often.. Roughly 2sec. callin time, and 5 uses with less than 3min. before it can be used again, and like 10sec. between uses, DAMN, that´s alot of dmg. in short time XD..
I used it a bit its nice maybe i do some testing once i farmed about 80 rare samples to unlock that one Eagle upgrade that reduces Rearm time when uses remain since i more or less only use eagle stratagems
It needs an uograde with the guns then a few bombs after like it lets go of the bombs first boosts into guns run and then bombs come after Downside is no noise like you would hear from Battlefield or CoD games

Starafe run obliterates target with large hitbox since it hit them multiple times. It almost always kills full hp impaler with 1 use

i would 100% buy that ship upgrade in a heartbeat. put more dakka on dakkaplane so i can dakka groundshidders even harder with wider dakka.

It was always viable. but everything is braindead after this patch. It killing heavies - especially Fstriders - in 2-3 hits is peak stupidity.

Cluster bombs is fun, great on enemy patrols
The problem of this is the opportunity cost. I could take this, or any other of the large number of stratagems that can take out enemies I can't handle on my own. The airstrike is a more effective version of this on all levels except speed the 110MM rocket pods are godsent against tanks and the 500KG is the icon of Helldivers 2 stratagems for a reason.
Just bring a decent weapon and tell the Eagle to pack more bombs for the big bads.

I remember me using it in the first game because it was so good
I use it a lot, it saves my ass everytime there's a bunch of enemies following me. I thought more people used it tho.
I admit, it is pretty good. But I’ll stick with my air strikes simply because it lands perpendicular to me

The 8 sec rearm kinda ruins it.

i really liked it from the start BUT, after the MASSIVE BUFF to it.. it is now an sbsolute beastly stratagem, and can take out ANY enemy, and VERY safe to use..
i bring it very often.. Roughly 2sec. callin time, and 5 uses with less than 3min. before it can be used again, and like 10sec. between uses, DAMN, that´s alot of dmg. in short time XD..
See the problem is that there’s no real thing this stratagem does that the airstrike doesn’t do better

used to love it in the 1st game, haven't played much with it in HD2 for a while, maybe I should revisit it

yeah but you could do all that 10 times more with a walker (walker is super overpowered and I love it, don't nerf it please, its perfect now)
You only get 05 uses. Thats why it isn't used.

I used it a bit its nice maybe i do some testing once i farmed about 80 rare samples to unlock that one Eagle upgrade that reduces Rearm time when uses remain since i more or less only use eagle stratagems

its not bad by any means but idk what it does that my recoilless doesnt do better
It needs an uograde with the guns then a few bombs after like it lets go of the bombs first boosts into guns run and then bombs come after
Downside is no noise like you would hear from Battlefield or CoD games
