How To Fix Spider-Man PC Mods (Launcher_Play) Blank Screen, Game Won't Start Up

- Has your game not been working when you start it up? Have you tried installing a mod and it doesn't work?
Issuses:
-Blank screen
-Weird looking start up menu
IT'S BECAUSE OF THE NEW UPDATE FOR THE GAME, You gotta delete a file called "Toc.BAK" you must delete this file when you are about to install a new mod/start up the game again.
- I highly recommend uninstalling the game than going forward with
deleting the "Tok.BAK" File

Is this also possible to do with the overstrike tool? I deleted the bak file before starting up my game and did the other method you suggested but neither seem to work.

thanks man i couldnt find a solution online and i already uninstalled and started over with a clean folder for the game. so i have to reinstall what i had but this helped a ton thanks again

seriously. i have no hope anymore. rather reset my pc then this bullshit.
What I just did, was uninstalling and then installing the game again, took me like 2 hours, but it worked.

1 thing I do is just verify game files instead of having to uninstall/reinstall the game

@@tombicknell3092 go to the Properties of the game then Local Files > Verify integrity of game files...
This was exactly the video I needed as of Sep 21. Seems like I have to delete the toc.BAC file every time i swap mod files since i'm testing out suits. It also seems like the suit stays if you disable the mod (I am using the vortex mod manager). and yes if the launcher has an underscore then I get the black screen. if it has the normal play, settings, and quit buttons then it works as normal.
how do you get the launcher back to normal play, setting and quit button ? i'm getting the underscore and the black screen
@@duyanh4537 it is as the video instructs. go to the local files where Spider-Man is downloaded to and delete the toc.BAC file after you install your mods.
on the side note i tired a mod that is supposed to replace something my existing mod replaced before and it did not work as well. prob install on yoir mods after a fresh install, then delete the BAK file

i’ve tried this but it doesn’t work i’ll delete the BAK file from my asset archives but as soon as i reopen my smpc tool and try to download it it doesn’t work i go back into my asset archive files and the bak file is still there even though i’ve deleted it . it pops up by itself even though i deleted it
I've done that too yesterday and it didn't work for me neither, I've tried and tried to put my mod in the game over and over it says it's successfully in but when I get in the game nope it ain't there

@@sneakysupra Nah. Last time they came out with a file that fixed it and I don’t think there’s been any new file uploaded yet on nexus.

@@sneakysupra that’s weird I’m not sure why it’s doing that. Try redownloading the game, and fix the files in steam by scanning them if you know what I’m talking about. Update it to the newest update! There’s a new file released in the pc modding discord that fixes it.

Go to documents and get your save folder- put it on desktop- delete every marvel Spider-Man folder-browse local files-go back to document and put old save in the new one
This is what helped me so I kept my save file progress and my mods were working after this
Having this issue again, only this time deleting the Tok file does nothing to fix the launcher.

Yup same here, was just playing with mods minutes ago, quit out of the game to swap a mod but then had to download a 14gb update and had to redo this trick and now all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore. I guess that update was a patch, fuck Sony.
@@xSPAZNSPARTANx I just rolled back the update on steam locates in the betas tab in properties and now everything works

They should eventually update the game to run the mods naturally like before, right?
Shift + Tab to bring up the Steam Overlay also fixed the blackscreen problem for me. I couldn't find the file you were saying to delete as my folder only had the Tok FILE not the Tok.BAK. So in a final ditch attempt I tried shift+tab while it was black screened; which somehow triggered the game to start loading once again.

do I have to fully uninstall it or can I just verify the files? because when I had the launcher_play issue I just did that and it went back to normal, but when I tried to download the mods it came back

@@impulsop1397 on Steam you right click your game and hit manage and go to local files. Form there you click on verify integrity of files and you’re good to go

Hey man I just had an update for Spider-Man again, it was a patch note. And now it's showing that launcher play crap again, everything was fine yesterday when I deleted the Tak.BAK file, but no I think I'm gonna have to uninstall

my biggest problem is that my pc doesnt open the Modding Tool it just opens my desktop and I just want someone to see how I do it so they can tell me what to do.
totally gave up on this. its like im missing certain options in the loader, 0 clue wtf im supposed to do. I love this game but modding is just too tedious.

I’ve been getting a “mod already added” prompt when I go to install mods on my SMPC Tool I’ve looked everywhere nobody knows a fix. Maybe you do

Hey so i was trying to install the new suit slot adder tool and it didn't work so i was just gonna play it regually but when i launch game it says launcher_play and i tried this video it didn't work and also Ive been uninstall and reinstalling it for 2 times

deleted the file and a red pop up appeared saying that it wont work if i press continue, started installing mods and its infinetly installing the mod
