  • Ah, Kingdom Hearts. An idea so weird, it should have never worked let alone gone to the mainstream and yet here we are. A plot so absurdly complex with characters you can't help but love spread across over a dozen games. Kingdom Hearts holds a special place in my, well, heart, as I'm sure it does for many of you. In celebration of Kingdom Hearts 4, let's reflect on the good, bad, and messy of this wonderful series.

The first ever game back on ps2 truly was magical for me! My all time favourite video game ever! I mean I love all other games in the series for different reasons but there is just something so magical about kh1 being so fresh and new and very original too I might also add.

If there was one thing with this series I would've changed, is I wouldn't have wasted the grid on DDD. I get that Tron Legacy was 3D when it came out in theaters, so having that world on the 3DS does kind of make sense but... I feel like they could've done so much better with that world and story line. Anyways, big fan of the series myself and I'm interested to see where they go with KH4. Hoping to see FF characters return as well, and I'm super curious to see what future involvement Noctis, I mean... Yozora has (if any).

The first game, Chain of Memories for the ps2 (mostly the story), and Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix is the perfect beginning, middle, and end to the story. Everything else was either a side story or a really crappy cash grab (yes, that includes KH DDD and 3). You can argue that ReCOM is the Empire Strikes Back in the series as it did something no game in Kingdom Hearts has properly done...successfully deconstructing and reconstructing Sora.

Your explanation of the gameplay is so flawed for Chain of Memories
"I had all these attack cards and I couldn't do anything with them until my deck loaded"
You start with all your cards available. You keep momentum the more cards you play. You can use Potions, Ethers, and Elixirs to instantly reload. You start with a Potion in your deck. The gameplay is just send out the bigger number. It's not clunky and complex if anything it's too simple.

  • @Ridgely

I'm unironically torn between KH2FM and KH3 ReMind for my favorite entries in the franchise.
KH2 often pulls ahead just because the nostalgia factor is that intense, but I try to judge it without the nostalgia as well.
I've given KH3 several tries, and currently working on a 100% completion. After ReMind, I can very comfortably say that I think it's got the best combat in the franchise, even ahead of KH2FM.
Story-wise, it's definitely a middle-tier entry. But I think it's unfair to say that everything about KH3's story is horrible, the ending is actually quite excellent in many ways. The pacing otherwise is just atrocious and it definitely felt like Disney got their grubby mitts on way too many of the worlds.

    • @Redxan600
      @Redxan600 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I disagree with that last part. I think the pacing is fine. Each of the Disney worlds actually contributed to the plot very well and the Organization members had an actual part of a role to play in those Disney worlds. The only thing I'll agree with is that Disney is very overprotective with Frozen. The rest are actually okay since Sora, Donald, and Goofy can at least interact with the Disney characters more often. Not to mention some of them tells a story after the events of a movie.

    • @fridaylambda3494
      @fridaylambda3494 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The Disney words didn't really contribute to the plot though. Yes, in 3 words, the Organization are causing some chaos for one purpose or another. However, for the most part, it isn't really necessary or even meaningful. Y. Xehanort is causing chaos to see how toys can have hearts and then suddenly realizes "Oh I can just make puppets and put my heart in it." But uh... Xemnas and Saix already knew that. It's pretty well established and confirmed they made Xion specifically to get a key blade wielder under their thumb. I'm 90% sure they didn't just forget and didn't plant that information in the Younger self or have a talk at some point. Xemnas and Ansem are both in Twilight Town BEFORE this time so they could have just informed him and collected the necessary vessels hours ago. The same problem happens in San Fransokio where they're doing experiments for no reason at this point. THEY HAVE 13 DARKNESSES. Why are you wasting time instead of starting you all important key blade war? There's no benefit to it. As for Vanitas, you could easily just have written it as Xehanort bringing him back before he perishes and stabilizes his existence with a piece of his own heart. It doesn't need some complex explanation of Vanitas needing negative emotion to reform. As for Larxene and Marluxia, they're just observing. Why don't they do EXACTLY what Ansem did in KH1 and just grab the princesses of heart? Their purpose is START the war so why not give extra motivation for the guardians and speed up the process? They're going to much more prepared having their back-ups in the war. Even Twilight Town's plot is pointless as Xemnas and Ansem's interactions don't matter much and the solution of putting Roxas in Data Twilight Town is dropped. It'd have been contributed to the plot if Sora realized his only option was to open his heart to darkness to release Roxas. Instead, it's a convenient plot point used to make trailer bait. Luxuord's role is equally pointless as he's running around for a box for literally no reason that we know isn't there. And any plot inside the worlds really doesn't have bearing on the plot outside of them. In fact, the only reason why they have any role on the plot is to give time for other more relevant plots to occur. It just never felt like watching or playing a kH3 had any stakes in it. It'd have had way more stakes if the events in those worlds had actual lasting importance in the main plot, but they just don't. The princess of heart plot is dropped. The Vanitas revival is pretty much over and done with. It's not even like him leaving causes the worlds outside Monstropolis to have increased Unversed presence or more negative emotions. Luxord's quest was irrelevant. Xemnas and Ansem's toying was pointless. Y. Xehanort and Riku both should already have everything they need and just focused on getting it done. That's mostly why the world's feel so irrelevant. They're trying to imply things are progressing, but when you strip them to the core, nothing actually is happening. It takes Sora finally doing what he said he'd do AFTER Larxene told him something that should stimulate the plot for things to happen. And then, suddenly everything unsticks for some reason and Sora just magics away all the problems.

Seriously, what is everyone's beef with Chain of Memories and its card battle system? On one hand I may be nostalgia blinded as the GBA version was my first ever KH game, but on the other, even back then I could get into the battle mechanics easily, and thought it was super cool that stringing 3 specific cards together could trigger various cool abilities or summons, not to mention the tactical part of stacking your cards in the right order for easy access to your most powerful sleights, and using them at the right time, seeing as you are being warned early on that the final card in your combo will disappear for the rest of the battle. Repetition may have been a key factor, seeing as how if you had a good tactic going, you'd use those same moves in every battle, but I never grew tired of it.
Sure, I was aware of the PS2 original, and did in some ways see CoM as a lesser version of the real thing, but for one thing, this game (in a good way) only made me more curious to play KH1, and secondly, on top of every floor in Castle Oblibity being a recap of a world from KH1 (which thus got me sorta up to speed) everything that happened inbetween was an all-new story, introducing my No.1 waifu of all time by the way, AND you unlocked playing as motherbleeping Riku afterwards!

@@tigerfestivals5137 I'm aware, I worded it wrong. I meant that KH1 on PS2 was the original version of the story being told in CoM, since the story in the worlds of CoM are all re-tells of what happened in KH1, if that makes any sense? As in "Kingdom Hearts 1 is the original Kingdom Hearts game". It's a muffled way of looking at it, but that's what I was going for.

    • @fridaylambda3494
      @fridaylambda3494 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I can't speak for everyone's experience, but I can at least give my own. For me, I played Re:Chain of Memories and the combat to me always came across as very broken. To start, the game introduces basically everything you need to know in World 1 which is pretty solid. It helps you understand how to play the game and progress in the combat. In theory, it should be preparing you to experiment and master the controls in later worlds. However, the combat for regular enemies doesn't fully prepare you for bosses and vise versa. For regular enemies, just overusing strong cards will suffice while bosses are really designed strictly for you to avoid attacks by breaking cards. The game is very punishing for having your cards broken/letting enemies attack. Axel 2 is a great example of this as the entire boss fight can kill you with just 2-3 of Axel's sleights if you let him (it's happened to me more than one occasion). Thus, the game is teaching you the only solution is to build decks that can't be broken by your opponent and to constantly break theirs. As a result, your objective now shifts to building decks with powerful sleights that will do massive damage and kill bosses with ease. This limits your options as you're now focused less on experimenting and figuring out what options are most optimal for your play style. It isn't really teaching you to experiment and have fun with the system. It's teaching you to break it to make your life easier.
Compounding this issue is the fact that Re:Chain of Memories system is based on math which most people dislike. I don't know a huge number of people who like math in games. As a result, people are going to want to focus on building decks that they can use long term to save time crunching all the annoying numbers to make the combo they want. I'm good at math myself, but even I get bored crunching numbers to figure out the precise details for a specific combo to just try it out. What ends up happening then is that players are being trained unintentionally to zero on a permanent deck that will kill most bosses and has simple math. In this case, 20-23 is an easy range to obtain because most people know how to add up to 20 or 21 (7 times 3 is 21). While the 2nd condition requires different types of key blades, players are earning new types all the time which makes this condition more accessible and easy to achieve. These two conditions are why Sonic blade becomes a welcoming choice for most players. Similarly, mega flare is instantly popular for grinding since it literally kills everything and just requires two random fires + mushu. In this regard, specific sleights are simply too powerful NOT to use and break the game's difficulty. The argument to not using a strategy like this is counterproductive since it forces the player to try and learn the controls to not break the game instead of instantly solving their problems with Sonic Blade. Re:Com also reduced the levels required for it making it even more busted than before. So realistically, you are essentially either going to use it or handicap yourself without much benefit in-game (even if internally, it helps make the combat a little more challenging).
For me though, I think what killed it is that I really don't learn the controls. As I'm playing, I'm shutting my brain off during combat and not thinking about doing 20 different cool things to kill enemies. Instead, I'm thinking how to combine attacks to prevent breaks and kill them as fast as possible. I eventually get bored of fighting and just want to continue with the plot. This especially happens on Riku's side where I get burnout due to the fact that 75% of his side is just fighting all the time. Since I never learned how to not break the combat on Sora's side, I'm even less prepared for Riku's side which expects you to. In particular, I'm super bad about using enemy cards. They're so optional on Sora's side I forget that I can press a button and use them. Additionally, I have no motivation to do so as enemies typically die in a few hits from my key blade swings or sonic blade anyway (defeating the purpose of using one). On Riku's side though, you really do need them and I just don't use them. As a result, I'm forced to use the Card battle system by winning Duals against enemies. Since the system is just pairing cards equal or greater to the card of an enemy after using a card of equal value, it's incredibly easy and mind numbing to just rapidly press X to trigger and kill the boss. I don't even feel like doing Dark Mode. If I get hit at any point, the enemy can just combo me to death. This is also a problem on Sora's side, but I feel especially vulnerable on Riku's side so I'm obsessed with avoiding any chance of attacks at all. And since you're EXPECTED to break cards, not dodge, it becomes a rather poor motivation to use dark mode over safety. It also doesn't help that Riku has only one way to heal and it's based on RNG whereas Sora just has instant cure. I get why they added the card limits to add extra challenge, but the process just frustrates with me.
Another issue from what I heard is that Re: Chain also suffers from 3D spaces. The game was originally designed for 2D battles which is why it works better on the GBA for combat. Since you have a 3rd dimension and can more easily miss, it further pushes the player into doing actions that reduce failures when fighting enemies. As a result, it continues to teach players to stick with what you know and not innovate which is counterintuitive to the combat they WANTED us to play. I don't know how true this is, but it's something I've read about before.
I don't know if that's everyone's experience, but those are at least my main thoughts. I hope that was helpful to you, and if not, you can let me know what I can clarify from my experience.

The story is straightforward, if you play all the games together in release order.
If you're trying to piece secondhand information together because you didn't know you missed a game or three, you're boned. (What do you mean, "there's no such thing as a Kingdom Hearts spinoff game?")
The collection re-releases have done wonders for improving the understanding of the story.

When I say “make KH4 more like KH2” I don’t mean rip out the flow motion and shotlocks and keyblade transformations, KEEP ALL OF THAT 🔥🔥🔥 Those are things that were added since KH2 that aimed to level up the experience and actually did a good job -
What they should NOT continue to do is use past HANDHELD GAMES as EXCUSES to justify:
-destroying their best received combat system of all time (floaty)
    -less worlds
    -less enemies
    -shorter campaign than PS2 predecessors
    -no Colosseum trials
    -no sephiroth fight
-half of twilight town, no seven wonders, no tower, no inside mansion
-no hollow bastion (have we strayed this far?…)
etc. - all of THAT stuff is portable hardware spin-off energy. We’re back on console, baby. Let’s make KH4 the new series best, I’m tired of looking back on what feels like “the glory days” of the KH series with KH2FM.

These games are amazing and I have a love-hate relationship with them. KH3 has okay combat, mainly in the data battles tbh. But I prefer KH2's combat above all others. I think KH3 might have the second best combat for me out personally (out of the main games) if you take out the attraction commands. Also, I don't know if you got around to it, but you should check out the Back Cover movie they made that was in the 2.5 HD collection, and you might have it but idk. The movie covers the main events of what happened and it's actually super interesting. It's also technically the "real" beginning of the KH universe (though technically it goes back further in time). I highly recommend it :).

The actual design of the worlds in Dream Drop Distance is incredible when you realise it was made for the 3DS. The sprawling maps that took advantage of verticality as well as floor space. Compare to the original maps for the DS titles and many of the maps in Birth by Sleep, it looks so much like it came out of a game made for the PlayStation. The reality shift feature also allows for environment interaction to navigate, such as using the Shift on a barrel in Monstro to help Riku reach a ledge with a chest.

That may not be as bug of a problem _now,_ since we have the collections, but for the longest time if you wanted to fully experience KH's story, you needed to own five different consoles.
And on top of that, their worlds are lifeless, their plots are mediocre and padded to hell, and the fact that they're necessary is a testament to the series' terrible writing.
Frankly, I wish the series had ended with 3. I can't muster one iota of interest in KH4; all the magic of 1 and 2 are _looong_ dead.

Wow, really? You're just going to straight up say that? First off, each of the non-numbered games plays uniquely and different. Sure Re:Coded and DDD has the BBS mechanic, but with Re:Coded, the gameplay has variety and DDD has Flowmotion and Dream Eaters to make the gameplay feel so much different from BBS. Second, they do serve the narrative. All of the other titles were building up to the finale of the Xehanort saga.
"By any metric they are spinoffs; the fact that they're vital to understanding the story is a major failing IMO."
If you can follow the MCU stories, or the Star Wars films, or any of the Harry Potter books, then there should be no problem for you to follow the KH lore.

@UCoSokzbIpUUKOWnI1UwMvPA *"Second, they do serve the narrative. All of the other titles were building up to the finale of the Xehanort saga"*
Yes, because informing the present-day cast that Terra, Aqua, and Ventus need help totally required an entire game of rehashed KH1 levels to do and couldn't have simply been established in a cutscene. Ditto for Xion, who is totally a character that needed to exist, who isn't made redundant by Roxas and Namine already existing, and totally needed an entire game to explain her existence. Did we need an entire game for the sole purpose of explaining Xehanort's plan to re-create the X-blade? The plan we already knew about from BBS? And which hasn't changed by KH3? Literally 3 of the 5 spinoffs have no justifiable reason to exist. And even then I'd say CoM is seriously pushing it.
*"If you can follow the MCU stories, or the Star Wars films, or any of the Harry Potter books, then there should be no problem for you to follow the KH lore."*
Star Wars is hardly an apt comparison at all. _None_ of the Star Wars EU is required to understand the films, not even the cartoons. They can _enhance_ your understanding or appreciation of the universe, but you're not going to be left unable to understand Episode V because you didn't watch the Holiday Special or read Splinter of the Mind's Eye. Harry Potter is an even _worse_ comparison. It's a straightforward series; you start at book one and each subsequent book moves the narrative forward. When you read Prisoner of Azkeban you won't be left wondering who Sirius Black is because you didn't read the secret epilogue to Chamber of Secrets that was only published in a UK-exclusive magazine. You don't need to read a spinoff book to know who the other teams in the Tri-Wizard Tournament are. And you certainly don't need to play a Beedle the Bard DS game to understand WTF the Deathly Hallows are.
As for the MCU... frankly that whole format is cancer. Whatever happened to just telling a story? Even complex stories can be told succinctly; anyone who _needs_ an entire book/movie/game to set up a character or plot point is a bad writer, plain and simple. Remember what I said earlier about Star Wars? Well, compare that to the new Disney era; wanna know who the hell the First Order are, where they came from, or how they managed to rise and gain control of the galaxy without the New Republic lifting a finger to stop them? Gotta read some books! Pick up the visual dictionary for Ep. IX if you want to know where Palpatine's giant sith army came from. Hey, doesn't Mustafar look a little... different than it did in Ep. III? Play the Darth Vader VR game to find out why! Did you like the Mandalorian? Well you'll need to watch the Book of Boba Fett if you want to be up to speed come Season 3. You'll also need to watch Clone Wars and Rebels to know what the deal with Ahsoka, Thrawn, and Bo Katan is. And of course you'll need to watch the Ahsoka series, and the Ranger of the New Republic, if you want to be prepared for the inevitable Thrawn crossover. Who knows? Maybe the Obi-Wan interquel nobody asked for will have some scene with Ezra that will also be required viewing.
The Compilation made FF7's story _worse,_ not better; ditto for this new multi-game remake they're doing. Do I even need to mention Fabula Nova Crystalis? Did we really need two sequels to FFXIII? Why do I have to watch a movie, an anime, play two mobile games, and buy multiple DLC chapters just to get the full story for FFXV? And why, despite all this extra development for their worlds and characters, are they still LESS compelling than the old self-contained titles?
It's nothing more than bad writing, corporate greed, and franchise milking. I guarantee you that a competent writer could've told KH's story in 4 games, tops.
*"Dude, what game are you playing? Because this doesn't sound like Kingdom Hearts. I mean the worlds, plots, and padding are true with kh2, but what you're describing is not at all like KH."*
Why are we even playing through Disney worlds in any of the spinoffs? It's largely irrelevent to the plot, and the worlds themselves have no unique NPCs, enemies, or mechanics. No unique character forms. No novel method of traversing them. No personal connection with the main character. They could literally be replaced by original levels, or procedurally-generated greybox dungeons, and from a narrative and gameplay standpoint almost _nothing_ would change.
KH2 did lay the groundwork with it's more straightforward level design, but it still had all of those key features I mentioned.
*"You could just stop playing and not invest any more time into this franchise. No one is forcing you to stay."*
I know that, and you know that. You also know that that's a non-argument. My opinion is no less valid just because I've grown sick of it. I put up with a _fuckton_ of BS from this series because I loved KH1&2. I have every right to be upset that after blueballing us for 14 years they have the gall to do it all over again.
*"Suuuuure. Blame Nomura for everything. But guess what? If it wasn't for Nomura, Kingdom Hearts probably wouldn't be as popular now. He doesn't have anything to do with the recent FF games other than just the art. You're just letting his wins stay rent free in your head."*
I love KH 1 & 2, but frankly at this point I would rather the series have never existed, if only to avoid it's own degeneration and the deleterious effect it's had on SE as a whole.
You do know Nomura was the director of FFXV, right? He was also one of the minds behind Fabula Nova Crystalis in general. He might not be singularly responsible for all the problems with SE, but he's certainly emblematic of them. Especially given that modern FF is largely experiencing the _exact same issues_ as KH, seemingly born of the same mindset and directorial approach.
Yes, the KH series is very successful; it's also a laughing stock. You could call that a "win" in the same way that Disney's live-action remakes are "wins", and I suppose if you're a bean-counter it doesn't really matter, but if you're someone who wants good games/movies/whatever, it hurts. You can call that "staying rent free", I call it "giving a damn about the things I love".

Diz will always be Christopher lee. kh1and 2 were a passion product from the end of SquareSoft to the the start of SquareEnix. KH3 is loveless child only a weeb could love. Also KH2 BBS secret ending was more impactful than all of BBS. You cant just do it again and get the same affect. Venus keyblade didn't even break.

The Story of KH was finished when KH1 was released. They decided to scale the story back at the last minute and gutted 80% of the story from KH1 in order to make it more streamlined since they wanted it to appeal to a younger demographic. Later Nomura decided to use the expanded story as the back drop for an entire series. Yes everything that happens in the subsequent games was always planned to happen. Just expanded as they filled out the lore for each game. Tons of people do no research on KH1 and then assume that the story is just improvised as they go. It's not. Nomura released ALOT of interviews before the launch of KH1 that reveal this fact but no one does research on that.

    Here's the thing
Kingdom Hearts: Dark Seeker Saga or just Xehanort Saga as I prefer (Minus the mobile games, japanese pc browser game, back cover x movie and anything post KH III ReMIND but plus TWEWY, MoM and Smash Ultimate.... Yes you read that right) is my favorite videogame series of all time.
But Square Enix has doubled down on making Kingdom Hearts a never ending franchise which it should never have been in the first place, not every series in the world needs to be never ending and Kingdom Hearts initially was set up to have a perfect beginning middle and end of a story. Kingdom Hearts as a series post KH III ReMIND will hit a wall and just downward spiral with the never ending rabbit hole lore.
And I really plead Kingdom Hearts fans (or people curious of it's maximum potential of series enjoyment) to only play the games in this order: ⬇️
. Kingdom Hearts Final Mix (Lay of the land)
. Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories (GBA version is superior but the PS2/3/4 remakes will do fine and picks up straight away from KH 1)
. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (Some would argue that you should play KH II first however I've played these games multiple times and it's way more impactful and emotional investing watching Roxas's story play out with 358/2 Days before II and I agree, it's a crime that you can only play it in the DS, it's literally the only game that needs a remake because while the DS version is okay, re:coded plays better which almost has zero story but 358/2 Days story is so rich with lore but doesn't play as well as the other games)
. Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix + (While KH lays the foundation and Days/COM tell smaller stories KH II smashes the door open wide with the most amount of lore on some MGS levels of plot)
. Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix (After the KH II lore dump creating more questions than answers but in a fun way, BBS is a prequel to the entire series but is best experienced at this point rather than right at the beginning because one it answers alot of questions you had in KH II and B it will make you more emotionally invested)
. Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded (Very very small story of the series, designed to indicate it's not over yet)
. The World Ends With You (Wait tHis iSNt a kIngDoM moUse gAmE!? If you've seen 3D or the KH III ending you'll get it, I took it upon myself to add it to the KH series because of it's connection to Travers Town and it's importance to the ending of KH III ReMIND battle ground)
. Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD (Leads in from coded and as I mentioned previously has a TWEWY ty in, sets the rule for the final battle)
. Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep A Fragmentary Passage (Some argue you should play this right after the first BBS but please do not do that, at the end of BBS Aqua is trapped in the realm of darkness for a decade, instead of playing 0.2 right after the first BBS game it's way more gut wrenching and rewarding playing 0.2 here plus it's a glorified demo for KH III being the next game)
. KH III with ReMIND DLC (The cherry on top of a cake, the bow on top of a present for to end the series..... Almost ;) Every game previous has been building to this one and WITH THE REMIND DLC, it's the best game in the series, I 100% agree with you in regards to the marketing, showing every single world before hand was a complete miss fire/cash grab, beautiful way to bring an end to the main villain of the series tho, in short Sora sacrifices him self to save his friends and the world's, dies at TWEWY Shibuya.... Or does he...)
. KH Melody of Memory (consider the next two final entries just a celebration of the series, Melody of Memory celebrates the tremendous music of the series while documenting Kairi's struggle without Sora while Sora fights endlessly in ⬇️...)
. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (With Ending B of KH III REMIND being my canon ending, Sora dies, makes the ultimate sacrifice for his loved ones and while crystalized, banished to the World of Light in Smash Ultimate, fitting being the last fighter for smash banishing both the Light and Darkness within in him)
This order and unique way of playing this series will make you most satisfied. All the Harry Potter Union X, Unchained X, Dark Road, X, Back Cover X, who's in the box/who's the master of masters bs should have nothing to do with the series and has ruined the series for making it continue on like it has ... Trust me, don't play any more after the list above, cuz it'll never end.

My only hope for kingdom hearts moving forward is that they remind Nomura completely. He's driven the story into the dirt numerous times. It's beyond bad.
Now he's all ass hurt about FF15 and his botched character that he's forcing it into the Kingdom Hearts world. He will never be able to bring it back to where it could've been cause he's simply bad at story writing

I have nothing but fond memories for KH1. Never played any of the others though. I was just kinda put off by hearing how complex everything gets story-wise with each subsequent game. Sorry if that doesn't make me much of a fan.

Anyone else notice that he said days released exclusive to the 3ds and not the ds? Just a thing I noticed. Also my first kingdom hearts exposure was to re coded. And fun fact for those who don't know re coded was originally pitched as a mobile game and Nomura got the idea for it when he was drunk. I wish I was joking but im not. So I think the whole story was planned to an extent. Re coded maybe wasn't originally intended to be a thing but nonetheless it exists. Also personally I'm not a fan of the kh2 world revisits. It honestly just feels like square was trying to pad out game time and this is the best idea they could think of. Personally I just think it feels a little lazy

I've always observed the kingdom hearts series from the sidelines. However, that didn't stop me from getting excited when watching the KH4 trailer, even though I've only heard bits about the other games. I've always had an interest in playing the games, but I wasn't sure if I should jump into it because I was intimidated by its seemingly complex plot and many titles. However, you've given me the push I needed to finally give this series a shot. Great video as always!

It's definitely a really intimidating series to approach, especially if you're interested in the lore alongside the gameplay. Definitely try the first 3 games, and if you like them then give the non-numbered titles and KH3 a spin!

I loved the first one. When it seemed a little more grounded. It went off the rails pretty fast after that. 2 was good but weird. Birth by Sleep is my 2nd fav. Very solid game. 3 was a slog for me. It completely put me off. So much so that I'm done with the series personally. I still enjoy the first few though.
