Toto is amazing! The fact that they're still not in the R & R Hall of Fame shows you that the hall is a joke. 99, Rosanna, Africa, Stranger in Town, Make Believe are some other great songs by them.
Toto, Boston, Kansas all shut out. What does that tell you? All 3 of these bands lap circles around anything being recorded today and still don't get it.
And when Eddie Van Halen was asked how it felt to be the best guitarist in the world, he said: "Ask Steve Lukather". That, my good friends, is some seriously excellent guitar work for its time and for any time. What's more, Steve Lukather has shown up in many songs and many solos on other peoples tracks over the years (Michael Jackson’s “Beat it” is famous for the Eddie Van Halen solo but all of the rhythm parts and the bass are Steve). That’s the key to Steve’s versatility. He can play with anybody and he plays brilliantly for the song. He can also be blindingly flashy if he so chooses but most of the time, he plays for what the song requires.

Toto has a very wide discography. Hold The Line is just one of his best-known songs, but not one of their best. It is worth listening to his complete discography to appreciate his enormous talent, any Toto song is well above average in terms of quality.

This tune is featured in their Debut album self titled Toto, back in 1978, and for so many drummers, including myself, is one of the most remarkable groove, shuffle type drumming style. This guys were recording session players for a super star called Boz Scaggs. He wanted to sing this, but they said "no", sorry, is for "our" project, finally ending to forming this band. The drummer, the one and only Mr Jeff Porcaro, (RIP 1992), one of the best sticks master who played always "for the song, to make it run" style.

I just want to take a moment and thank you two for being so diverse. Its also ok to express that you don't like a song. We don't expect every song to be a winner - but I guess all of us have been suggesting the good ones so far. Thank you for breaking down a huge stereotype that African American people only like rap, hip hop, or rhythm & blues. Music is the universal language and if a songwriter can related to anyone out there by putting words to a great tune, then they will have a winner song....and you'll see it right here on Shawn & Mel!
"Rosanna" is a great video as well. Little tips. The dancer who plays Rosanna in the video is the same actress/dancer that played "Penny" in Dirty Dancing. And Patrick Swayze has a small dancing part in the same video.
Roseanna (the drummer created his own "thing" called the Percaro Shuffle that is heard in this song as well as others) and I'll Supply The Love should be on your list of songs from this amazing band.
Unfortunately Toto fired lead singer Bobby Kimball for his substance abuse and Bobby's replacement Joe Williams a contestant from Star Search. Joe's father is John Williams who won a Kennedy Honors award for composing great soundtrack from Star Wars, Indiana Jones and ET.

I totally believe in the saying, “Don’t judge me because I sin differently than you do.” But I do use discernment in working to be the person I aspire to be, and discernment of what I allow myself to be exposed to. All that said, I do love you guys. You really do have a lot of insight and emotional connection with what these artists are trying to convey in their music and messages. These guys were all over MJ’s Thriller album. Keyboardist Steve Pocarro wrote “ Human Nature”.
It def a 9, totally agree! Steve Lukather (lead guitar) also played on MJ's Beat It, though E. Van Halen played the guitar solo.
The drummer for Toto was Jeff Porcaro who also played on 4 songs on Michael Jackson's "Thriller" Album.
