As most commentators said, it's really well described Takuji's state of mind and it most fits to his streams of consciousness. Aside that, it feels so good to experience this song in delirium condition, - may be alcohol or another thing, - when mixed with calmness, nihilistic thoughts, self-importance, raised ego above everything, which exaltate you to zenith of this universe.
takuji had delusions of grandeur and constantly thought he was a messiah worth kneeling down to, this song is probably trying to draw out the fact that he deems himself as divine as jesus. I mean it's hard to tell since everything is occuring in his mind but that seems to be the gist of it.
