This was improvised from memory / by ear off the top of my head in the first and only take so it's not the best medley / cover in terms of musicality or accuracy but I hope my emotions reach all of you watching this video. Even for non musicians, this anime is extremely emotional. You can imagine what it feels like for actual musicians who can understand the intricacies in the music. As a musician myself, this anime held more sentimental value than others.

I am a pianist who struggles with a condition leaving my hands weak and often difficult to control to the degree I need them to so I relate well to kaori's struggles so this anime hit home.
I can totally relate to that. I play violin, guitar, piano, and soon lyre harp. The way they described the feeling of playing music was so accurate I loved it so much. Great show

"would you like to commit double suicide with me?" would be interpreted 'i love you, but im going to go far from you.' with that, i'm sure kousei understands why she said that, and replied with "i can't because you're always in front of me(?)" something like that. Kaori loves kousei and vice versa. But, kaori knows that if both really confesses to each other. it would be a double suicide. Putting kousei in hurt because kaori is dead, and putting kaori where she is going to left kousei. Yes, kousei knows kaori loves her, and kaori knows kousei loves her too. It explains this whole phrase kaori is saying, and the reason why kousei was reading the letter with such an ease feeling :)

I’m part of a church music ministry. I was going to give up on the piano last year cause someone said I wasn’t getting good. I saw this anime and my perspective changed so much, how blessed I was to even know how to play, these talents we have are gifts and it will be a shame if I just hid it. I started learning by my own harder then ever and now I play with such enthusiasm to make myself feel relived and happy that I know what it is to be a musician. Now when I play on services I see myself enjoying every second of it.

The first time I ever saw you perform, I was 5 years old. It was at a recital for the piano school I was going to. This awkward, clumsy kid came onto the stage and accidentally hit the piano stool with his butt. It was too funny. He turned to the piano that was way too big for him and the moment he played that first note, I was drawn in.
The sound was beautiful, like a 24-colour palette. The melodies danced.
The girl next to me started crying. I wasn’t expecting that at all.

(Cut to Kaori as a kid, telling her parents she’s giving up piano for violin because she wants Kousei to play again.)
When I found out we were in the same middle school, I was ecstatic. But how would I ever come to talk to you? Maybe I’d hang out at the lunch concession. Instead, I just watched you from afar.
I mean. After all. You all seemed to get along so well. There wasn’t really any space in there for someone like me.
When I was a kid, I had to have an operation and I started having to be at the hospital for regular check-ups. In the first year of middle school, I collapsed and I was admitted over and over. With every visit, I was there for longer and longer. Really, I didn’t get to class much in middle school, I spent more time at the hospital. And I knew something was wrong with my body.
One night, I saw my parents crying in the waiting room and I knew that my time was running out.
That’s when I ran away.
I didn’t want to bring my regrets with me to heaven, so I stopped holding back from what the things I always wanted to do.
I wasn’t scared anymore to get contact lenses.
I ate what I wanted instead of always worrying about my weight.
And I took the music with all its high and mighty directives and played it the way I wanted.
And then I told a lie. Just one.
I lied and said that I, Miyazono Kaori, liked Watari Ryouta.
And that lie brought you to me.
Please apologize to Watari for me… though I’m sure he’s forgotten me by now
I think I need someone more wholehearted and earnest than him.

@kswae It can be in any, honorifics and name style in Japanese is different. Kousei is his first name, but many people use the last name to signify respect. People use the first name if they are closer, but the actual way you write it would be "Arima Kousei" and his mother's would be "Arima _____."

As somebody who has never taken a piano lesson in his life, I didn't really know where to start without them. I was scared. I would watch your videos and imagine I was playing them in front of thousands of people. Then, I came across this video in particular and it spoke to me. I put in the effort to learn this, and got over the initial terror that kept me from doing what I now love. Although it is not prefect, I have learned a great deal about myself that would have been left unknown without it. I began because of you. Thank you, from the same guy who struggled over 2 years ago, thank you.

@Ragey Gamer!.!?!? I have to agree with that honestly. If kaori wasn’t terminally ill, never lied to kousei, and they got together I don’t think the anime would have gotten as popular and left a big as a mark on the audience just like u said. It would’ve had a similar plot to many others but still good. I think the ending made it feel more realistic than most anime. People die and that’s just how it is. The best you can do is move on and have no regrets with them. Even though it’s sad I think it was the perfect ending for this anime. Any other alternate one wouldn’t sit right with me.

when you think about it, you see that Takeshi and other people started playing piano because of Kousei. They wanted to be like him, to be better than him. And Kaori learned violin to play with Kousei. As an equal. And that was really true love.

Real talk now. Everytime I hear this medley I'm a confused mess. I'm caught between joy and sadness. I can hardly bear to listen one more time and yet I know, I will. And I don't just let it happen I embrace it. I always knew that music could leave me in a vulnerable state, but this Anime took it to a whole other level.

I have only ever watched this anime once in my life but it had the greatest impact on me...I cannot bring myself to watch it again either...
Her letter and the fact that both loved each other and still couldnt have a future together, still breaks my heart after all those years. I swear this Anime was just a masterpiece, but I dont think I can rewatch it.
I used to love this girl and I'd tell her all the time. Sometimes we'd take long walks around our town late at night, barely worried about what our parents thought because we were together. Then one day she changed herself, her name, her personality, she was like a different person. It went on like that for a year or so and progressively I was losing track of who she really was, everybody told me the whole thing was just a waste of my time but I didn't listen because I'd never found anything like her before. I still remember that girl and I don't think I'll ever forget her, that's because I still love her. It's been years since then and honestly I still think about her all the time, the laughing and the crying, but after all that time I still remember one thing in particular about her. She never once said she loved me back, I always thought it was my fault but then I realized it was nobody's fault because something like that can't be helped. She said I'm more like a brother to her, sounds kinda familiar doesn't it?

Edit 4: Good news. Even though there is no cover yet, I can play until the end after 6:30 slower than in the original. I am anticipating being done with everything within either a week or two with the fine tuning!

To anyone with a goal, know that it isn’t talent or just practice that gets you somewhere. It’s passion. I love how this show, tells you this, that you have to have a passion for what you do or it won’t work out. With anything you are learning, know that you aren’t simply learning how to do something, you’re learning how to understand it and become apart of it. With music, it isn’t just picking up an instrument and playing something, it’s realizing that you just need to listen to the instrument, it will tell you what to do and play. Every instrument isn’t just an object for sound, it’s a potential to let it get all of its music out. It has the music and songs already written and there, you just need to find it. You aren’t writing the song, you are finding it, it’s already there. Same with anything. For example writing. The story is there, you just need to find it and put it into words. Understand your feelings and take your time, you will find that the story is already there. You just need to find what you’re looking for by understanding your passion and yourself, you will realize your thoughts will collide with your passion, your reality. Find that passion and understand it…

All of this is true still, but don’t focus on career purely. Take your time, breathe, find people you love and continue to love and care for them. Then career. People first.

i have two things. severe anxiety, and the inabililty to play the piano. i had done something stupid and true to my nature, my body started panicking with me. mid-way through a panic attack i frantically turned on my computer and searched for fonzi. this video came up and i clicked it hurrily. when the music started playing i closed my eyes and imagined there was a a piano infront of me. i let the music carry through me and started letting my hands push down the notes. im pretty sure i didnt get any of the notes correct but it felt as though i was playing the piano either way. suddenly all that mattered was that i had to hit the right keys and everything else disappeared. i think the way fonzi plays takes you to a place where time flows differently than in reality. thank you

I just finished watching this show, I just watched the last episode 45 minutes ago. All I can say is "wow, what an experience." I love every bit of this show, the plot I was interested in throughout the whole series, the characters, the personal struggles of the characters, and the music, my goodness the music. I have a deeper respect for music and anyone who plays an instrument as well. The dedication and effort put into it is incredible, just like the dedication and effort put into this show, it too is incredible. I don't watch anime, I just got into the medium. This is the second show I have watched, and what a way to show me more of this beautiful and creative art. Also, great video!

Let me say that Your Lie in April is one of, if not the best anime and manga that I’ll ever see. The feels hit me at just the right time. The song, as well. I’m sad that it will never be the same as the first time I watched it, but I’ll always appreciate it like it is.

No one in my family has ever died. I’ve never known one person in my life that has every died. I haven’t attended a funeral or watched a sad movie where the protagonist we all love dies. This was the first time my heart really sank. It was the first time that I truly realized death is permanent. Once a person is dead, they’re gone forever. And that realization scared me. Your Lie in April ,no, Anime, has helped me grow and mature as a person. It has taught me lessons that I would have never learnt otherwise.

The last 10 minutes of the anime hit hard when the voice actress read this script. Especially when she repeatedly said "I love you" and the fact that she wanted to be near him since they were five. It was a requited love forbidden by fate and that breaks my heart.
