An interesting fact comes to mind: during the Tang Dynasty, there was a stone tablet outside the Kaiyuan Gate (the north-west gate) of Chang'an, which read ‘西去安西九千九百里’ (‘9900 miles west to Anxi’, Anxi is near the Aral Sea), telling officials going to Anxi to take up their posts: ‘Anxi is less than 10000 miles away from Chang'an, which isn't too far’.
xi'an isn't chang'an. after chang'an was burnt to the ground. that was when xi'an was established, in fact, xi'an today is built in the center of what once was chang'an and its suburb area was where the weiyang palace stood. today known as weiyang road.
What I know about China city design in the ancient times was, in each city specifically the capital where emperor resided there alway some important buildings: - 2 imperial palace and also a royal residence - most part side of the city are different kind of districts from neighborhood to holy site and etc.
America dominated the modern world, a brand new powerful sovereign that didn’t exist in tang dynasty. While ancient China did not have to cope with such a formidable rival, it was most 國際的中國. 。 長安=New York or Washington DC
Shameful that we Oriental have to use Anglo language to communicate with each other. If a kanji or hanzi based common written language, say 東亞語were used today, maybe we could 筆談 even if oral language is completely different. Language barriers hinder communication and deepen mistrust and misunderstanding while Communication always promotes bilateral development and mutually beneficial progress.
You are a hateful Indian with little knowledge, always argumentive without logic, never learn to accept your weakness, never learn to appreciate other's greatness. You hate China while India can't compare shi**t with them while you're using Chinese appliances even your mobile phone
Very interesting - thank you.
I love Chinese history, and this video is so well made 👌🏻

この時代の長安に生まれることができた人は幸運ですね。
唐帝国は、現代の中国とは逆です。
世界はこのような「国際的で開放的な中国」を望んでいます。

As a Filipino, chinese language and other asian language is really difficult,
One of the reasons Tang dynasty destroyed was also caused by foreigners rebellions.
Çok güzel Kent / Türkiye
Chang'an may not be as big as Ancient Rome but it sure is not less impressive.
Chinese architecture looks way more majestic compared to that of the Roman.
@@iamwonka you have never seen Roman architecture at it's peak. My ancestors could never hold a candle to Roman architecture
永遠の漢唐故都-長安
