- 30 Years ago the back streets of Fethiye were a mix of lokantas, vibrant workshops and small private businesses, it was the heart of Fethiye and the local community. Over the years the main streets have changed, mostly due to big cooperate companies dominating the popular back street shopping areas, but a few miles away in Günlükbaşı the lovely old community spirit and vibrancy survives.

I came to Fethiye for the first time in 1990 or so and I came again in 1999.
I met Ezgin Tan and his family ( Di Do Spor ) and the Gunday family. (Ceren hotel)
We are friends since then.
I lost my job in 2011 and Chever and Ibo Gunday came to me in 2012.
I'm very happy with my current job since 2018 and I saved money to visit my friends 2019 but then that damn corona.......
Well anyway I hope to see my friends this year, I really miss them and they really miss me too :)
When I come i want to celebrate it with a bbq . I will let you know because you bring some happiness into my life with your video's and I would like to meet you.

I love these virtually non tourists towns (where the locals live), they seem to sell everything you need at reasonable prices with great choice - this place is on my bucket list.
Been visiting for around 15 years you'll love it
I fell in love with Samandag for this same reason...many great people who I love very much in this town! 💗🙏💗🙏

I lived in Fethiye in the late 80’s and recall these kind of shops, and lokantas . The pıde where wonderful, and I still make menemen for a brunch meal ? They could also mend almost anything, and if they couldn’t mend something they knew someone who could. Happy days, and a privilege to have known it then😊 teşekkür ederim

it's snowing here, just had some porridge and sat with a coffee. Can't tell you how much I wish i was there with a simit and some tea.
Nice video Mick. We used to have a holiday home in gunlukbasi Just behind the school. From 2001-2009. This video brings a lot of memories. Seckin restaurant was our favorite.

Hi mick. I've watched many of your videos and I've loved them all. I was in fethiye 2weeks ago and it was awesome and amazing. I must be honest that all your videos helped make my holiday a great one. I am truly grateful to and trudie and would love to return to fethiye in the future

Hi Mick Amca! Not only your content is great but they are quite professional! I've never been to England, you know what they say about English people, like they are "cold". I see the Mick and Trudie warmth and go whaat? I've been to Fethiye for 2 summers and all the English tourists there were the nicest, warmest people I've ever seen! They always smile, you can chat with them any time, they always thank to people and they even smile to me when we accidentaly hit each other on the street! You can't get angry with them haha😄 I appreciate if you can make a video about houses in Çalış, the heating system, the rents and any studio apartments for single people? Kolay gelsin sevgiler💐

Mick uncle, I was born and I live in Bursa, Fethiye is a beautiful city but I guess Günlükbaşı is a small place or underdeveloped. Because while watching your video, it is difficult to find places such as locksmiths and sofa covers in Bursa.
Last year I started Warsaw Politecnica, like the oldtown culture, there is a market area in Bursa city that we call the Grand Bazaar. This is a place like ''oldtown'' in Europe, Grand bazaar in Turkish culture. This very easy to find locksmiths and places belonging to the old Turkish culture in the Grand Bazaar.
It's probably a lot better there in the summer, but when I watched your video I felt I was back in the early 2000s. I just saw this channel and you are a good person. all the best.

This morning we bought some "boyoz" and "tandır ekmek" from Ekmek Doktoru bakery and ate the last part in Ankara. It was a wonderful two weeks winter holiday. We arrived to Ankara 6 hours ago. My son's university will start its second period of third class on Monday. Thanks for lovely presentation. God bless both of you.

When you own a Property in Calis/Fetyhiye or other area's around, this is the place where you do ALL your shopping, from a Cheap B & Q type store ( Tekzen) to New Bathroom/Kitchen, Solar Heating, 3 Piece Suite or repairs, New/Used Car, to a Fantastic Wrap which Trudie devours in the Video. I honestly don't think there is anything that road does not sell, even if you think of something, someone will know someone who's cousin's 3rd brother makes or sells it. LOL!!
