I hate to be 'that guy' but I've ALWAYS loved Paras and Parasect. The anime episode where Pikachu fights a very meek Paras and uses the weakest of zaps... Only to knock it out anyway... That moment cemented Paras in my heart forever.
I purposely caught one for my playthrough of Vertual Consol Red. I hope it gets some love soon. I could see a regional variant that's Grass/Psychic with the mushroom growing even bigger and being able to control anything its spores touch.

It’s always bothered me that Paras, after evolving into Parasect, would probably not actually be the same individual, because Paras’s consciousness is that of an animal, what Parasect is completely controlled by the mushroom.
He says you wouldn't need paras but it's grass bug right, misty is water and if you run a grass stratagy, you can use paras with bulbasaur, you could easily beat misty as she wouldn't do much to you, although it suffers because by then oddish or bellsprout is a option, if you go up first.
Shame that episode was accurate in-game

I always thought it was weird you guys never talked about Pokémon as you obviously like it a lot from your gaming channel. I mean it's not like is an odd thing to talk about like name of the wind people literally make their living on youtube talking about Pokémon. But I'm glad you finally are talking about it

It’s even funnier when you watch paras’ major anime appearance where it was notoriously scared of everything until ash had it battle his charmeleon. Paras only wins by a fluke in a controlled battle and it’s implied that’s the only win it ever had, and it evolves. Talk about low level
The disrespect with Drowzee and Hypno being in the bottom six is unacceptable. Also shocked about Seel and Dewgong because they were so cute for gen 1.

The saddest part is that Paras and Parasect only got their pins and plush toys because they did product lines where “hey look, there’s a (pin/toy) of LITERALLY EVERY KANTO POKÉMON so they literally couldn’t not make the products even if they knew no one wanted them.
I blame this video for making Paras one of the most unrelenting Pokémon in Legends Arceus. They. Won't. Leave. Me

I’m surprised you didn’t mention the epic scene of when the Spearows and Fearow were attacking Ash and Pikachu and how it was their bonding moment. It certainly would eliminate them from not being well known. All brought about thanks to Ben’s favorite.
I don't think many people, other than those that grew up with the show, know about it. I hear a lot of people who don't even know why pikachu isn't in a pokeball. younger people.

They are:
- Demon Special Pokemon BATTLE BOND Greninja {Ash's Greninja}
- The GS Ball is mentioned and referred to as the Great Smith Ball
And third
- Attacked by Spearow and saved…………by An Electric type {Topukoko saves us in the games while Pikachu saves Ash}
A bonus one is:
- Chuster the Celeb-chu {Pikachu} who is most likely a Pikachu who plays Ash's Pikachu on TV

There's one thing Paras/Parsect is famous for: due to it's type and being able to have the Dry Skin ability, it is the only pokemon that is 5x weak to Fire... oh were you hoping for something that made it good?
It actually made it to 5th place in a world tournament because of that very ability. While it has a 5x weakness to Fire, it has a complete immunity to Water. One of the strongest Pokemon commonly used at the time was Kyogre. Dry Skin, Spore and Grass Knot made Parasect the perfect Kyogre counter.
I thought Paras and Parasect had pretty neat and tragic lore. And they had an episode dedicated to a Paras trying to help it gain confidence in itself.

"Voltorb is a ball" Yeah, but he's famous for blowing himself up with self destruct, and those of us who watched the show first before playing the game; just like we think of Charmander as "He will literally die instantly if you put his flame out" (even though that's not the case in the game), we many times think of Voltorb as a suicide bomber (many times not thinking about the fact that in the games, he only faints when he self destructs).

Paras is the Mike Wozowski of the Pokemon world
Arcanine was always meant to be a legendary Pokémon and has been referred to as one a few times in the anime. It would replace Moltres when designing the game. But Game Freak decided it was too weird to have two birds and one dog. And in the second anime episode Arcanine can be seen with the legendary birds.
It was also called a legendary pokémon in the Gen 1 pokédex! I remember reading that and nodding like, yes this dog is a legenary good boy now. I love Arcanine
I mean...all you had to do was catch a growlith and shove a firestone at it. Pretty underwhelming for a Legendary, no matter how good. Besides...yeah. It doesn’t go with what’s clearly a Bird Theme-and Moltres has The Best design out of the Three Birds.
Now if it was One Bird, Arcanine, and some other animal? Well. Then Arcanine would make sense thematically-IF it didn’t evolve from Growlith.
The bigger question is-why tf do the Officer Jennies *never have archanines*
And, imho, it's a better fire-type Pokémon than Charizard (at least in Gen 1), because of it's higher stats and I'm pretty sure it had access to better moves (again when speaking of Gen 1). Yes, Charizard could use fly but honestly it's a wasted move slot.
@@DaRozeman actually I recently replayed the original red and Charizard wasn't able to learn fly until yellow so my Charizard knew cut because gen 1 has so few good moves and I already taught Nidoking earthquake
@@anonymousfellow8879 it wasn’t always gonna be so easy as growlith + fire stone, originally it was designed to be one of the guardian shrine/temple dogs from Asian legends the bird theme didn’t come about till almost the end of the games development

Not gonna lie, I laughed way too hard when he revealed that it was Paras. The irony is too strong :D

A note about Parasect: in Sun and Moon it was considered the counterpart to newcomer Shiinotic, who shared its BST and appeared in the same routes but at night instead of in the day, making them pseudo-version exclusives.
And then Shiinotic is put into Sword and Shield whereas Parasect is not.
As well, Parasect is the only Pokemon not used by any trainer in the Let’s Go games until you unlock the expert trainers. And it suffers in that game because Seed Bomb does not exist, so it doesn’t get a physical grass STAB. The only grass attack worthwhile on it is Solarbeam, which had 200 power in those games.
Not to mention how it has six weaknesses, two of them being 4x, poor bulk to take unresisted hits, is incredibly slow, and comparatively mediocre attack due to power creep. It played around in competitive Gen 4 Ubers for a moment, but other than that it’s been low tier after low tier. Didn’t even receive one of those stat buffs other Pokemon got.
When you ripped on the champion's cape I expected a clip of Edna going "No capes!"
I do think that Porygon loses points because it hasn’t made an appearance since Pikachu gave children epileptic seizures in the Porygon Episode.
funny thing i was just thinking about writing this and went to the comment section and this was the first comment i saw. Porygon line is a very interesting pokémon to me and it’s sad that they are basically banned especially since pickachu was the one who caused the lighting effects.
In a weird way, that gives it more points, especially since they still give him another evolution later on.
Worst part of all of this is porygon is innocent. He took the fall for pikachu

Somehow the most surprising part of this video is still that Ben’s favourite Pokémon is Fearow
I think J’s initial goal with the video was to prove Ben how unpopular his Pokémon is.
The Spearow line was really important in the anime for being Ash's first hurdle AND a Fearow shows up in the Pokemon Adventures manga to mess with Red, so that line definitely deserves some credit.

I used to despise Parasect back in the day, but then growing older i realized his mushroom-brain-insect-zombie little secretand now i really think he's one of the best design in the whole game ! Such a shame that he got no attention whatsoever

My favourite is Mimikyu, and I love the attention it got because in-game lore states it was worried it was unlikeable because of it's appearance. It would be super cool to see an evolution of it, so we can find out what's under the disguise.

My favorite Pokémon is Growlithe. I mean, it's an adorable tiger puppy that breathes fire, how can I NOT love it?
It's in gala, so it should of easily been of the list, also depends on game though but yeah it's there
Probably would have been good to look at the Z-moves from Sun & Moon, too. A few Pokémon got signature Z-moves
But none for parasect

Who's gonna tell J that the town in Gen 8 isn't around Shiinotic but it's a fairy town? Like you see little impidimps, and Sinistea in Glimwood Tangle, and it's very cottage core esq. It's easily my FAVORITE place in gen 8 and one of my favorite towns in general. Wish we could've explored more of it. Galar was far too linear for my taste.

I just generally love all poison types, and yeah, they're generally underutilized by the Pokemon Company. I mean, it only took until Eternatus to get a legendary poison type (not counting Arceus), and yeah the Ultra Beasts used poison, but not in the original Sun/Moon, only in Ultra Sun/Moon. Poison type isn't even mentioned in the 2BA Master song ("Flame" type is though!) I guess after being Team Rocket's punching bag type, it's been left to "meh" off to the side (despite vast improvements to the type over the years)
In a literal sense, Pokémon's very own least favorite monster is Porygon and it's evolutions (in terms of the anime). Due to an incident in Japan where over 600+ children were rushed to the emergency room with seizures, Porygon and it's evolutions were banned from EVER being in the anime EVER AGAIN.
And it wasn't even Porygon who caused the seizure inducing scenes. It was Pikachu...

At least Gen 8's Pokémon Home changed the colors on Paras to look like it did back in Gen 2. So it hasn't been completely forgotten about if it just got a new palette swap.
Well, parasect, at least you got to be a kyogre-slayer in gen 4.
Y'know, it makes sense that the Pokemon Company would want to sweep their literal mushroom zombie under the rug, being a 'family-friendly' franchise.
I still feel Mankey is one of the most slighted Pokemon of Gen 1 though. It's found in almost no games, Ash only used it for a bit in the show until the moment it trusted him and he decided to give it away, and even the Fighting-Type expert of Kanto, Bruno, would rather use 2 Onix then train a single Primeape. And Onix is terrible endgame!
What about how Paras’s whole deal in the anime was how weak it was and how it was being taken out by Pokémon trying not to hurt it

WAAAYYYYY back in the day, when GSC was the hype that had us all amazed about additional Pokemon, I remember reading the strategy guide for the 2nd gen games. (For those who aren't aware, before we were online 24/7, we actually had to go out and drop 20+ USD on a magazine that had all the tips and tricks you can now easily Google.) Anyways, this strategy guide was, I believe, an official Nintendo publication. And I seem to recall that they took particular joy in bashing Shuckle. Repeatedly. To this day, I fully believe that Shuckle is ACTUALLY their least favorite Pokemon. And honestly...who can blame them?

Hey, I was wondering if you guys ever considered doing "What if" scenarios for Harry Potter? For instance, my favorite what if is "what if Harry had died in GOF in the graveyard?" How do you guys think the story would end? In my opinion, it would validate Harry as master of death a lot more if this was the way J.K. intentionally had written it. Also, Necrozma is my favorite. 😊

Harry fought back in the graveyard and then fled. By Dumbledore's theory, he would have died if Voldemort had managed to kill him. He's only the master of death in book 7 because he accepted death and didn't try to fight against it or flee from it. Dumbledore believed that the link between Voldemort and Harry only saves him in the seventh book because he willingly sacrifices himself.
But for me it's cheapened by him having a horcrux. If that was destroyed and he had no genuine way back from death, him accepting death is more validated.

So Harry had to die in order to be Master of Death right? So Voldemort's soul/ horcrux gets destroyed, Harry lives, and get to be Master of Death? Like, it's cheapened by him not dying and solving a paradox set by J.K. which is in order to be M.o.D. you have to be in possession of all three hallows and willing to die in order to accept death. Harry not dying/ having his soul die or destroyed doesn't fulfil what she wrote. By her own logic, Voldemort would be more M.o.D. than Harry since he destroyed the horcrux in Harry, hence accepting death. Harry dying in GOF fixes that problem.
If we’re going by the anime the answer is 100% porygon. We all know why, and now hes shadow banned from the series, never to be seen again. Theres also kadabra after the frivolous lawsuit about him.

If you went purely by Anime, then Porygon would be their least favourite since they have never appeared since the incident. My favourite Pokemon is Gyarados though I still wish they'd give it a Water Dragon typing, maybe as a mega form Sometimes I use a Randomizer and hope the Type randomizer will finally give it the type it should always have had.
The underlying lore for having magikarp evolve into gyarados is literally a normal fish turning into a dragon. The flying type is not something that affects gyarados' behaviour in universe. Gyarados doesn't do anything but swim. Flying type makes sense only if thinking of it from its background outside of pokémon. Which makes it even harder to understand why it isn't a dragon type.
Had it been harder to evolve magikarp it wouldn't have been a problem to have a water dragon gyarados. Had magikarp+gyarados been a second gen pokémon then a need to know waterfall for it to evolve could have been the solution.
This would also let the gen2 have one more dragon pokémon for the dragon type gym. Dragonair, kingdra and gyarados would have been a great gym leader team. Gen1 Lance would still only have 1 dragon type, so nothing changed there.
I really hope you do more pokemon videos these are awesome. Loved the twist on a common list to be the company's least favourite pokemon. Not even fans least favourite. Maybe you could do one on what other types there could be in the future. (Sound, Light, Air etc.)

Venonat is my favourite. It was my favourite from the start cus I really like it's design. It looks so kind, has a cute voice in the og anime episode, but also look like someone who would get a hurtful "eww" directed at it from the majority. I just imagined venonat sad and alone cus of this and felt immense empathy. You and me against the world venonat!
It was my very first shiny too, I was planning to shiny hunt it but it just came to me before I started. Felt like it that was venonat thanking me for the much needed affection :)
Ps: I have an awesome venonat plush too (third party made ofcourse) but the quality is really high and it warms my heart that there are others willing to give venonat some love.

I think they should exclude Alola and Galar from that however. Galar is the current generation and Alola is way to recent, especially in terms of games, they could only be included in Galar.

Actually i was doing a quick thought at the start and yeah, paras hit me just the same. Ferrow did too, but I blame Ferrow and spearow on the first episode... they attack pikachu AND they get shown up by the superior pidgey line... plus all the pidgey clones later on....
@@ryancollins6934 Wait. Superior pidgey line? Pidgeot is a bit more defensive but lacks utility. Worse move pool than fearow and lacking both defensive and offensive capabilities. Fearow has a clear offensive role being fast, having high attack and had the best flying type move in gen1. It also fully evolves way earlier (pidgey-18->pidgeotto-36->pidgeot, spearow-20->fearow). There are only 2 levels when pidgey line is better, and the rest have spearow line as the victor.

Ho-Oh is my favourite so I thought of Fearow (cheap Ho-Oh) and Paras because of the Finnish "The best" thing. If it helps Ben, The first Episode Ho-Oh was thought to be a Fearow for a while :D

Giving parasect quick claw and using spore was how I caught suicune in my original gold game... the paras line has always held a place for me because of that
