Smearing a cake with just butter cream icing is lazy, fondant is difficult to use and very ambitious, I will say store bought fondant like the wilton brand tastes absolutely horrible, but if you make it yourself it's delicious😊
Smearing Icing on cake is still not lazy you know it's hard to properly flatter those out with it almost go wrong and if you're not careful enough you might deform the look of your cake especially having to make it flat. Trust me it's still hard.

modeling chocolate is similar to fondant too so some people use that. I don't like some fondants but the art you can do with it is so amazing I would eat it just because of how amazing it looks.
I work with polymer clay, and what I like about it is I can take as much time as I want sculpting and then bake it when I’m ready- I really can’t imagine having to do it so fast so that it’s still fresh. Is modeling chocolate the same difficulty as fondant, or? is it a choice some ppl use it to taste better? Really, major respect to all artists out there, whatever their art form! It takes hard work and dedication just to learn the techniques

Like, listen Tina, I'm a fudging Dietician and Chef - if you want to do a breakdown here on the miniscule amount of calories and fat in the two tablespoons of buttercream you're scraping off of that triple serving of double chocolate cake you just whinged me into serving you, we can. Keep in mind though, I'll break out the crayons and construction paper and make it a whole lesson fit for a third grader in the process, because hypocritical crap annoys the hell outta me.

I’ve followed your recipe for fondant and it tasted pretty good haha. I’ve only worked with fondant once for my Food and Consumer education class where we had to decorate cupcakes and we could prep deco at home. Working with fondant is not that easy especially where I am because of the warm climate that the fondant gets really sticky if I forget to place enough powdered sugar on the table I’m using to work with it.
I have a feeling this is someone who has never tried marshmallow fondant. I used to say I hated fondant, too, until a friend of mine made her son’s birthday cake using homemade marshmallow fondant (like yours!). It was SO good! So, so different from that almond-based fondant that was used on birthday & wedding cakes when I was younger.
I think fondant is really pretty, (not my cup of tea taste wise, but eh) the amount of time and effort you and other put into making pretty fondant sculptures is amazing and no less art than pottery
