Morse is now officially the hardest working guitarist in the biz. Changes pickups for every other phrase while also changing his picking grip (for his wrist issues), sometimes at the same time. And then does 2 gigs in one night!!! Legend. He still sounds amazing.
My #1 band - Dregs - Since I was 12. 46 years later and their stuff is still my go to Spotify playlist! They NEVER get old! I could glaze on forever but you get the point! Listen to I'm Freaking Out on Dregs of the Earth for a true masterpiece!
Steve sounds great. He pulled this off nicely. Dixie Dregs was his best band. In the early 80s he was extremely influential and featured heavily in the guitar mags. These are the guys he belongs with.
I have seen the D. Dregs back in the 80,s twice , and yes they were amazing , just as they continue to be to this day! Thanks for sharing , and great music is a peace of mind thing!
Steve did a “workshop” with Dave LaRue at Sweetwater back in ‘14 for free. Maybe 100 people there. I took my then 16 year old son who was getting into classic rock. It was simply amazing. Answered questions, oh and played and played, and played. They did a meet and greet afterwards and he signed my Unsung Heroes cd.
What incredible tone and virtuosity. SM plays so musically. Jordan Rudess on keys? Whaaa. . . Yes!Reminds me of MLO. Privileged to have seen original Dixie Dregs back in the day at Exit Inn.
Dang it! I wish I would have known! I would have been there! I got to help host a SM guitar clinic. One of the nicest guys you will ever meet! I have seen the dregs numerous times and absolutely about the music! Thank you for sharing.
Send them and got to make them long time ago I still got the shirt at the graffitis in Pittsburgh PA... And they had an Irish band open up that were called the Young dolans I do believe.. Dolan
Saw them in Macon at the start of the tour. Unbelievably great! Closing set, with both bands on stage, was unreal. You can tell most of these guys have been playing together for +50 years!
The first time I saw Steve Morse was with the Dixie Dregs at "My Father's Place" in Roslyn NY around 83 or so? It was around the "Unsung Heroes" era... I had never heard of them but a friend invited me... All I can say is WOW! Man I was blown away... And that's from a guy who was already listening to Mclaughlin, Coryell, Di Meola and other fusion masters...
It's hard to explain to young people the effect that Steve had in the late 70's early 80's. When I got my first Dregs record - "Dregs Of The Earth" - it seemed like it was from outer space. Coupled with the fact that we read that Steve would write every note for every instrument, he seemed even more incredible. He also exposed people to classical guitar and counterpoint and had extraordinary technical abilities - I don't play music like this now, but he was a supreme role model for any young guitarist and I thank him for the influence that he had on my life.
Roger Glover is one of the nicest guys I met and he was the bassist on some of my favorite records, but it is so relieving listening to Morse and Dave LaRue together. Mana from heaven.
My two good friends and I travelled from the UK to Nashville for this gig, as a 60th birthday road trip. Money well spent, it was fantastic. Thanks for uploading. Shame you didn't catch any Jordan Rudess synth solos!
What a cool story! Regarding Rudess, every time I started recording he stopped soloing, or when I stopped recording he started. My best angle was definitely on center stage. Wish I could have gotten some, and from a better angle! Hope it was all a fantastic trip for you!
I saw them as an opener for Alvin Lee had never heard of them but I knew about Steve Morse being Kansas lead guitarist so I was expecting something special and it was .! Dallas convention center lower balcony awesome! Much Respect!!
Bravo to mr. Steve Morse and Dixie Dregs!!! i saw mr. Steve Morse live only once, it was in 2008 with Deep Purple, i went to see the show for mr Morse and he was really great, i was very surprised that day since all the members of Deep Purple were energized, it was a fantastic show, one of the very best that i saw in my life, last year i saw Deep Purple live once more but without mr. Morse, it was Simon Mcbride on guitar and he was fantastic, it was surprisingly another great show by Deep Purple, thanks mr. Mark Adams for sharing, cheers!!!
Steve won the Guitar Player reader’s poll ‘Most Valuable Player’ award, (in the ‘80s) and he either won it for three years, or five years in a row-I forget which. That, then, put the person in the so-called ‘Gallery of the Greats’. Al DiMeola, I believe Pat Metheny, and Steve Howe, among others, were also Gallery of the Greats recipients. As far as I’m concerned, Steve created his own genre-I like to call it Dregs Music. One of a kind! Be sure and check out his interview with Rick Beato-it’s wonderful!
It is wonderful to see Steve knocking off any rust with Dixie Dregs music again! I know the "good ol' days" era of the Dregs are gone, but this is definitely in that same brilliant spirit and its good to see Steve reclaim this music.
Steve Morse is a monster. One of greatest electric guitar articulators of all time. He had to change his picking technique mid-stream due to arthritis. You can see how he alters his picking technique during those fast runs.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING !! Steve is at the top of the heap (nothing new about that), in every way. Master at what he does and he's a gentleman. You kids should pay attention. 👍
Randy Cooke; when I was16/18 ish; I got to witness his mastery. I saw him with both Lee/Rik in the early 90'$. My dad owned a small lighting/production house in Windsor Ont. Headwater audio; Rick, Spinner, Spike/Zakoor all did audio at some point, and when I worked there, there was a live board mix on cassette of Emmett; I played the hell out of that! Randy rocked solid ass fawk. Gave me his Z4 stick's. Chewed to the bone, last time I spoke with him, was maybe 2002; playing for Sass, was with Zakoor. He may remember. ✌🏾🥁
Saw them in Macon, Ga 1st show this tour. Unbelievable and the room had a lot of friends in it from the old days....It's Macon, that's normal... The combined set at the end was unreal! You can tell most of these guys have been playing together (with breaks) for +50 year!

@@Scorchinscotty That's a good observation about his creating his own genre; the mix of influences was fascinating, resulting in a totally unique style of writing and playing. and obviously, Steve's unique talent and work ethic were the central ingredient that made it all work so beautifully! I recall an interview decades ago, with a person on his crew, a guitar player who was asked if he envied Steve getting up and doing his thing, while he was stuck in a support role. He said any jealous feeling went away as soon as he spent a little time around Steve and realized that he wouldn't have wanted to spend every spare minute practicing, and saw that Steve had to do that to maintain his abilities; he just realized he was more comfortable not being the big star with the heavy pressure and constant work; not for everyone, obviously!
@@Scorchinscotty it was actually 5 years in a row in "over all best guitarist" category, he had to be made ineligible there after. If my memory serves me both he and Steve Howe won 5 times.
Steve Morse и его Music Man это одно целое. Они выдают фантастические звуки и пассажи. Слушать и смотреть одно удовольствие. Гитарис с большой буквы. Очень большой). Браво!
How cool! The lady sitting next to me flew down from the midwest for the show. What a great concert! Glad you got to be there, too. I couldn't believe how well my clips turned out, and I'm so thankful we got such great seats.
Would Janine be Steve's wife? She did pass? I know he retired from purple to take care of his sick wife but I didn't know much of the details. I looked around on line but couldn't find any information about it. I'm assuming cancer? I was very sad when I heard about that for Steve, his wife and his family.
He's playing with Steve Morse Band as the band opener, and then later he's playing with Dixie Dregs as the main act. Crazy! The only other man I remember doing this is Steve Howe, playing with Asia as opening band, and then later playing with Yes as the main act. Of course it might be no coincidence both were awarded 5-times Best Guitarist by Guitar Magazine in a row.
First of all thanks for this great video! I have been waiting for it from the tour since last week and so happy to watch it from Tokyo now! If possible please share with us the full length of "I'm Freaking Out", thanks again!!
Thanks. Sorry...I was trying to be as present as I could and the clips I posted are the only ones I have. I wish I could have recorded the whole thing.
Could you ever come across a more humble down to earth musician than this man. No is the answer. Absolutely brilliant
Morse is now officially the hardest working guitarist in the biz. Changes pickups for every other phrase while also changing his picking grip (for his wrist issues), sometimes at the same time. And then does 2 gigs in one night!!! Legend. He still sounds amazing.
He's been doing that for more than 50 years...
all while he is suffering becase of his wife's illness.
OH YEEAH ! AMAZING PLAYER !
Steve Morse: He was, is, and will be Master of Masters.
Steve and the Dregs are leaving a legacy that I will cherish forever.
Great that Steve got his Wrist and Thumb issues worked out! One of the best ever. Nice Dude too.
Saw them in Ponte Vedra and have been following Steve, the Dregs since early eighties. Top of my must sees
Thank you Steve Morse et al

Had to change his technique, but it doesn't slow him down none. Great stuff. I've been listening to Steve since 1975.
Steve sounds great. He pulled this off nicely. Dixie Dregs was his best band. In the early 80s he was extremely influential and featured heavily in the guitar mags. These are the guys he belongs with.

Saw them yesterday, May 14 at the Patchogue Theater in Patchogue, NY. Phenomenal band, absolutely amazing show.
Huge Steve Morse fan! Good to see it looks like he got over his hand ailment
Steve is a GREAT player ....Always was . Always WILL be.....& he would make his mark in ANY band.
Two of the best musicians on the planet right there!
WOW , THANKS ! AMAZING STELLAR PERFORMANCE !!! ( CRAZY STUFF😎😎😎😎
Some of the most skilled musicians on the planet!!!

We used to go see Dixie Dregs play in bars around Atlanta in the mid-1970's! It's great to see that they are still together and rocking.
Send them and got to make them long time ago I still got the shirt at the graffitis in Pittsburgh PA... And they had an Irish band open up that were called the Young dolans I do believe.. Dolan

I was at this show Nashville. Great venue CMA theatre. Hopefully they come come thru again.
Nothing better great music with some very old friends, best work through therapy I know!
All my best wishes and prayers Steve!
I'm on my way to see them tonight (4/27/24) for the first time at the Capitol Theater in Clearwater. Thanks for the pre show footage!
What a great show!
I’m still in awe….

Is that Sloan on the fiddle? I really miss Steve’s older style of string skipping arpeggios. 😢. But he will always be my favorite 👍

Jordan Rudess, as always, in in top form.
Dave Larue came up to play with our band in the late 80s. As a drummer,it was awesome to play with him. We did Led Zeppelin Rock n roll.
Wow! The Wizard on keys I love it
Awesome.
Thank you so much for sharing this great music of some of my favorite musicians 🍷❤

Great band, great music!
Saw him at a state fair and after his gig he played with headliner Kansas and tore it up! All of them did.
