photosynthetic pigments and their role | Chlorophyll and carotenoids |

- When light meets matter, it may be reflected, transmitted,
or absorbed. Substances that absorb visible light are
known as pigments. Different pigments absorb light of different
wavelengths, and the wavelengths that are absorbed
disappear. If a pigment is illuminated with white light, the
color we see is the color most reflected or transmitted by
the pigment. (If a pigment absorbs all wavelengths, it appears
black.) We see green when we look at a leaf because
chlorophyll absorbs violet-blue and red light while transmitting
and reflecting green light.
The ability
of a pigment to absorb various wavelengths of light can be
measured with an instrument called a spectrophotometer.
The absorption spectra of chloroplast pigments provide
clues to the relative effectiveness of different wavelengths
for driving photosynthesis, since light can perform work
in chloroplasts only if it is absorbed.
The absorption spectra of three types of pigments in chloroplasts:
chlorophyll a, the key light-capturing pigment
that participates directly in the light reactions; the accessory
pigment chlorophyll b; and a separate group of accessory
pigments called carotenoids. The spectrum of chlorophyll suggests that violet-blue and red light work best for photosynthesis,
since they are absorbed, while green is the least
effective color. This is confirmed by an action spectrum for
photosynthesis.
Other accessory pigments include carotenoids, hydrocarbons
that are various shades of yellow and orange because
they absorb violet and blue-green light. Carotenoids may broaden the spectrum of colors that can drive photosynthesis. However, a more important function of
at least some carotenoids seems to be photoprotection.

Wow so conceptual method
Thank you sir ❤ amazing lecture jazakallah
It's like lecture wow Sir
THANKU SIR for all the lectures🙂. I request you to plz make a video on difference between ATP , NAPH , ++, and FADPH Sir
ATP : adinosine tri phosphate..yee hamara pass di nucleotide Hoti haaa aurr Jab light energy covert ho rhi Hoti haa toh yee chloroplast me peda Hoti phir waheen glucose me store hojati ha 😁
Itna prha b h kbhi ap n.. 😂
Really mind blowing
amazing lecture👍👍👍
you are right

How many covalent bond between carbon and nitrogen in a chlorophyll?
Good looking Sir and Great lecture.. I enjoyed while watching ur lecture because it really helps me in my work . Thanks btw 🤍♥️🥲
❤
🥰🥰🥰
Can we use this pigment in DSSC ? ?
Sir tell me one answer plzzz sir .
Which are plant pigments?
Chromoprotein
Glycoprotein
Flavoprotein
More than one
None of these plzz answer me
Sir Assalm u alikum
I have a question
I have some dout about you say that carotenoid can be seen during autum but how they absorb intense light and pass that to chlorophyll
I AM very confused
😊

Kya mujhe ye hi video clearly mil skti h sab note kiya jaye jismai?
AoA sir kia hm in notes ko jo ap likhwaty h exam mai lkh skty h ...federal board
Baki chapter to nhi he is link pe mean ch 10,11,12
Plazz sir aap zara board se hata kare hum screen shot leti he
Ka sok ghwre. Che tol quran tarjama ezda kre no zama pa TH-cam id band da aw inshallah pora quran tarjama ba upload kom aw ka staso support o no inshallah tapseer ba hum soro ko chata zarorat v no ogra ye ❤
Sirr aap jo board p likhte ho vo clear hii ni h .........dikhta hi ni sahi s
you said that tha hydrophobic region is present on tha inside of tha thylakoid lumen but its not true... ans = chlorophyll is attached to the thylakoid membranes by tha hydrophobic tail not with hydrophilic head the head is present inner to membranes

Can you snd pdf of this vedio pleas
Sir chlorophyll red aue blue ni balka violet aur blue region ko absorb karta ha aur indigo yellw aur green ko reflect karta ha 😁
but chlorophyll also absorb red-orange wavelengths
