    If I had found THIS video, I wouldn't have made several newbie mistakes like overfilling the mattress and now having to siphon out water two days in a row because it's too hard. It's still not right and I'll have to do it again tonight after work. Or that hole I saw on the bottom of the padded mattress, but it didn't dawn on me that it was for the heater cord and now my cord is shooting out the top by the head of the bead from a slightly open unzipped zipper. Or not folding the liner over the edges until the mattress was seated inside the chamber. Sterling did a really good job making this video. Many little tips were given that all add up to a perfect installation.

    This bed should be more popular then it is, many people do not know what a soft side water bed mattress is. I have Brest implants and this is the only bed I can sleep comfortably without my chest feeling it the next day if I sleep wrong...I have not had any problems or a leak either way.

    My previous (queen size) waterbed had a slatted wooden base and my present one has 16 castors under a base that contains four drawers. New Zealand houses aren't exactly built to fortress standards (especially low-cost ones like ours) but we've never had a problem with the waterbed doing any damage to the bedroom floor. Even the earthquakes (well, tremors really) haven't done any significant damage to the house (so far; touch wood).

    @hoarp001 depends on the fill depth, but generally speaking, a king size waterbed can weigh up to 1,571 lbs, and just to calm any fears, i have never heard of one falling through the floor. that is sort of a waterbed urban legend. i suppose it is possible if your home is not built to state standards, or if the waterbed is not on a proper heavy duty 9 leg metal bed frame, but the chances of that in real life are incredibly slim. thanks for your question.

    We have had since 1974.
    Our 1st was a wooden box with liner. OUr second one had soft sides (full motion), Our 3rd was a king wooden sides full motion. 'we would not need or want the bed bladder to be split, only the foundation.
    Do they make a queen size single bladder?

    • @dlshow101
      @dlshow101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we do offer queen size waterbeds. We have full motion (free flow), all of the bladders we offer are avaialble as single bladder. only a few are offered as dual and only for softside waterbeds, not hard side (wood rail). As for foundations. Queen size is usually 1 piece. We only get into split foundations when you get into king size.

    Thank you for this video. We would like to change out our hard side for a soft side, and have questions. 1) Can we still use an under bed storage system, similar to the one we now enjoy? 2) Can we simply transfer our Cal King bladder over to the soft side frame, or is it necessary to buy one that will fit the soft side? The soft side bladders appear to be a bit smaller than the hard side bladder we now love and enjoy.
    Thank you for your time.

    • @dlshow101
      @dlshow101  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      AJ, Not really a simple question, but i will do my best to respond. 1) more than likely. If the drawer system has support in the middle, and wood on top, then it could work. you would still want to remove the wood rails. the Softside systems are designed to be free standing with no wood rails, but the rest SHOULD work. 2) What we do make Cal King softside waterbed systems, the waterbed bladder are actually smaller since they have to accomodate the soft foam rail around the outside. the over all bed dimentions for the complete waterbed system are about 71"x83", the bladder dimentions are quite a bit smaller because of the rail. Also the waterbed bladders are cut to accommodate the angle of the foam rail. in a hardside, the rails are 90 degree angles, while the foam rails of a softside run around 75-80 degrees. Short answer: no, you cannot use a hardside bladder in a softside waterbed. but if you order the same model number in softside, it should feel about the same.

    Is this bed a queen size? King soft sides have two box springs just like traditional mattress correct?

    • @dlshow101
      @dlshow101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joseph T Yes, the bed in the video is queen size, and you are correct, in both California King and Eastern Kind, the foundation is usually split into 2 pieces. but a standard box spring would not be strong enough. These are wood foundations designed to withstand over 1500 lbs of weight.

    Not true. while there are many people out there that dont use them, they are always recommended. If the water in your bed gets too cold, it can cause your body to go into shock. it can also cause the plastic to get too cold, and crack or split. Also, using a heater can keep the bed closer to your body tempreture. this is important because if the temprture between your body and the bed is too different, condensation can occure causing mold, and making you think the bed has a leak in it.

    to remove air bubbles buy your self is easy, I use a cardboard tube that carpet rolls come on, they will give you one free from a carpet shop, just mark the tube with a pen then cut to the same width, ( cut out side of course) start at the top and simply roll it down the mattress to the bottom, job done.

    I have a king size soft-side water bed which I would like to move to a guest room. I wonder if the metal frame shown here is sturdy enough to support this size bed. We do not have a box spring as we had a platform bed and a box spring was not a requirement.

    How much does it weigh filled with water

    • @dlshow101
      @dlshow101  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      a King size bed can weight up to 2,000 lbs. That is just a ball park number. there are a lot of variables that go into filling a bed. the average bed weighs less. And when you consider the weight is distributed across a box foundation, a 9 leg metal bed frame, and the plywood, and beams that make up a multi level house, the weight per square foot is a lot less. we calculated the weight across each of the 9 legs in the metal frame around 250 lbs each.

    • @thingsstuff4611
      @thingsstuff4611 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Calculate the bladder size in inches, length x width x height = A. A ÷ 1728 = B, B x 62.3832 = C, C = lbs. of water weight. For example, a typical hardside queen mattress is 80x60x9 inches = (A)43,200, (a cubed ft is 12x12x12 = 1728.) (A)43,200 ÷ 1728 = (B)25 cubed ft., (7.48 gallons per cubed ft x 8.34 lbs per gallon = 62.3832 lbs. per cubed ft.) (B)25 x 62.3832 = (C)1,559.58 lbs. for just the water, then add the weight of the bed frame, headboard, coverings, body weight, etc..

      It is a very real water mattress, and we sell more of them than any other mattress type we make. It is not all water like most people think. we add back support and wave control to slow the motion, and give you a better night sleep.
      Es un colchón de agua muy real, y vendemos más de ellos que cualquier otro tipo de colchón que fabricamos. No todo es agua como la mayoría de la gente piensa. agregamos soporte para la espalda y control de ondas para ralentizar el movimiento y brindarle una mejor noche de sueño
