Malaysia needs to strengthen its air defense system so that it is not underestimated by other countries. The number of fighter jet assets that we have Su 30MKM 18, Hornat 8 and Ba Hawk 12 is still less compared to countries in Southeast Asia. We have to compete or we will fall far behind. The signing of the purchase of 16 KA-50 aircraft from South Korea is only to replace BA Hawk type aircraft. At least we have 70-80 fighter jets to protect the sovereignty of the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak. Thank you ATM for your service and sacrifice.

Would you guys consider having UAV skuadron instead of real aircraft, human-mounted?? Nowadays, scouting or attacking, UAV, slowly taking control and replacing real aircraft. Cheaper, more agile, and reducing victim. Is it possible drone will replace jet-fighter or bomber?
There are pros and cons. In Ukraine, drones are prone to being disabled or lost control due to electronic warfare systems on the ground but it pose no danger to the drone pilots. Aircraft reconnaissance pilots on the other hand are prone to dangers from SPAAG, MANPAD and SAM but they can still control the plane after being attacked by EW countermeasures, do some visual recon and fly back to safety away from the front lines.

Malaysian airforce need long distance fighter jets can travel from semenanjung into sabah&sarawak.
SU30MKM/FA-18D all have enough range to fly covering peninsular n Sabah/Sarawak in one tank
We have aerial refueling probe, additional fuel tank and tanker aircraft. It has more than enough range to cover from Peninsula to East Borneo. The problem is not range but the quantity of aircraft available. Using only 26 fighter jets(flanker+hornet) as interceptors to cover the entire country puts a huge strain on the aircraft which requires frequent maintenance and cause aircraft fatigue. Most countries with a decent size air force rotate the aircraft to prolong the life span but TUDM cannot do that due to its small air force size

Malaysia is transitioning from 5 fighters to 2 as stated by CAP 55 plan. In the future, RMAF will retire Su-30MKM, F/A-18D, Hawk 108/208 for FA-50 block 20 and a new MRCA in 2035.
I think malaysian spend to much on tanker aircraft... In my opinion its waste of budget to have 4 tanker aircraft considering their teritory and air fleet...
