Everything we talked about at school, played at recess, every Halloween costume I wanted. And I WASNT an atypical kid. We were all like that. It's true, they're just honestly being real spiteful at this point, because as soon as us passionate, oldskool Fans say we like something, KK swoops in and deliberately changes and messes, interferes with that thing to ruin it. Look at the Mandalorian, TWO awesome seasons and Favreau brought Luke into it, then when we all went nuts and got really excited, KK forced things to be changed in BOBF. Same with Kenobi, when we all got excited at the idea of a real character study of Obi-Wan being in exile, and another epic showdown with Vader; soon as KK realized this was specifically what we wanted, she went and ordered subverting by forcing in young Leia kidnap plot to take over the entire series, and the Reva character to steal screentime from Kenobi in his own show.
It looks like an ok kids sci-fi adventure show, and honestly it could be a good version of what it is... but it's not what I look for in Star Wars. If they took the Star Wars label off of it, no one would know that it was supposed to be in that universe, and when a franchise so desperately needs to be set right, even an ok show can count against it.

I just watched "I am what I am" full movie from Tiger Pictures on TH-cam today. It's about a young boy who dreams of being a Lion Mask dancer while being told he's not good enough to even try, and the sacrifices, hard work, doubt, disappointments and pain he has to go through for his dream. THAT is the kind of emotional storytelling missing in Disney Star Wars. That, and actual EU stories - which is a hill I'm not moving from...ever.
As long as it’s connected to Disney I will always be cautious of any thing they put out. I honestly have no interest in Skeleton crew even if its good or doesn’t really change canon. I will not watch anything connected to the mouse. It has nothing to do with shills or culture wars Ive been burned too many times to give them a chance.
I'm going into it with an open mind. It looks fun. It looks like a good adventure. I don't think it's going to save Star Wars by any stretch. But I'm hoping this show really is the breath of fresh air it's looking to be.
You are spot on Coach. This looks like uncomplicated fun that will not damage canon. The bar scene even reminded me a bit of Farscape, one of my favorite shows. Maybe it will be comic relief enough to bolster the seriousness of Andor season 2.
I don't have Disney Plus, I'm going to try in 2025 to buy less LEGO Star Wars and I'm hoping that Ahsoka shows up in Skeleton Crew and saves the Day.... But other than that I could care less about this show. I will be watching you guys, though.
For a record, I am kinda getting tired of Grogu. I loved them for his time, but that’s about enough. I’m gonna need some kind of growth to happen with him. Personally, he should not have came back after he went with Luke. He should’ve stayed with Luke, got trained and left it right there and maybe he came back or they saw him somewhere in the galaxy as a padiwan or whatever he ended up being.
I completely agree with you Coach 💯 when I watched the Skeleton Crew trailer honestly it just looks dull, the same looking type planets, except one biome that just looks like American Suburbia. I really didn't like the style how they did the trailer, it was giving me too much of a Guardians of the Galaxy style, and that Major Tom David Bowie music, really!? This is meant to be STAR WARS!!! There shouldn't be any of our Real World Music in starwars, it should have it's own unique music. I really feel this was lazy on Disney's and Lucasfilm's part, it's like they just dont have any original ideas of what to do whatsoever. Trying way too hard to play it very safe for the younguns and kid audience out there; kids today would be able to get into starwars IF there was a new movie or series that just blew us older Fans away. Like really impress us and get us excited, because when real *Hype* is generated in us older fans and get excited, that trickles on down to the kids and the mainstream normies. At this point the IP is a utter joke and I gotta be honest here, I'm NOT going to be checking out other TH-camr's channels like Thor Skywalker and SWT, because watching their reviews of the Skeleton trailer, they're starting to get like they will accept anything even if it's just average. Well stated. I am only seeing this show as generic Disney Kids sci fi show. Nothing more, as it doesn't come across as Star Wars at all. The music and suburbia took me right out of Star Wars. I can see what Disney Lucasfilm are trying to do, to attract the younglings. I would love to hear what younger audiences have to say about this show as they say how it is. I will watch it because it looks fun and entertaining, escapism with high quality production value but I just don't see Star Wars but I see Goonies, Lost in Space, ET etc, which is fine but unoriginal. I appreciate the homage to those shows but as we all know Hollywood fears innovation.
@@LaraA55 I am glad you are going to give it a chance Lara, for me I'm just going to sit out abit on the sidelines and simply wait, to see what the overall feeling from the fans is first before I check it out myself. I do also understand that Disney are trying to attract the kids, the young generation here with this show; personally I feel that could have actually been achieved IF Disney/Lucasfilm had simply just allowed Jon Favreau to continue with what he was trying to do, coming off of Mando Season 2. I think a spin-off series all about the Adventures of Luke with Grogu set over a period of about 6-7 years would have easily appealed to the kids out there and would have been fun *escapism*, it would also have massively appealed to us older Fans too who wanted to see more of Luke at still that younger age, in the early days of establishing his new Jedi Order. I feel Skeleton Crew could focused too much on nods and homages to classic Spielbergian Films. Also my issue is that "Disney Starwars" is seriously lost right now, to such a point they're trying to draw lots of inspiration from other classic things instead of doing their own original ideas. Most often it needs someone to just come in and think outside the box alittle, and bring something new and original to the table, that is innovative and really just kinda forces Hollywood to get onboard and basically do the same. Lucas did this in 77 and helped influence the Industry. I think we need this again.
The main thing that concerns me is the "other" content creators. They seem to be convinced that we are going to "attack" the children. I feel that 1) ANY critique about the characters is going to be taken out of context so they can say the "chuds" are attacking the children 2) that someone is going to pretend to be one of the "chuds" and actually says something bad about the kids so they can be all "look, we told you they were going to do it!" I feel this is a fail no matter what our opinions are. That side needs to have a reason to be mad at us to have something to post about.
For me, there's Star Wars and there's Disney Star Wars. Star Wars is dead and Disney Star Wars is simply a delivery system for social messaging. I've no interest in this. I think I'm too old for it. I understand and respect you and your opinion. I wish you well in watching "Skeleton Crew". Cheers.
If you like what you saw for this trailer for Skeleton Crew, that's fine... but this thing won't save Star Wars... if the best Star Wars can do is a kids show emulating Goonies in Space than Star Wars in space... I dunno, but I am sure it'll be fine.
To be honest this feels like one of the first projects they should have done. Jedi Master goes around finding students, making it an entry point to the lore, setting, notable worlds, all while teaching his padawans and having adventures. It really isn't that hard.
Do I feel like watching (another) "kiddie" show? Not really, No. I would watch a "Star Wars" show if Burbank had the talent and the honest intention to produce one. Unfortunately, Disney doesn't have the talent or the mindset to do "Star Wars" shows anymore. Why this is true needs no discussion here and now. The idea for the show itself has been done, and done better. It is old, shopworn and like the rest of Disney, just plain tired. I am far past the point where I can be "cute" bombed into watching something with an IP label stuck on it. The first trailer does nothing to convince me that the show is worth the time I would rather spend on other projects. (Yes, for me to watch a show, the show has to EARN my viewership.) So Far, this cute moppet-fest is just button-pushing at its worst. There are about twenty things I would rather do than waste my time on this show. It is as if Disney is once again "going through the motions" and using formulas in place of original creative thinking.
Excellent Vlog, am a Collector and movie buff. My wife is not a Star Wars fan but I was sitting here watching the trailer and she said “looks good but does look very Goonies in Star Wars”. I’m on the fence if I’m even going to see the Mando movie for that reason. Here is my opinion on all of this. Book of Boba, Obi Wan, Mandalorian S.3, and Acolyte have been real bummers. Bad writing across the board. However, not gonna judge Skeleton Crew show til I see it. It is definitely geared for kids and most likely will be lighthearted. Not gonna trip if this isn't dark & action packed. If there is actual good writing, then I will be all in. I will say, I am excited for Andor. Like super hyped.
Star Wars captured an entire generation! it was a kids movie made for adults that's why when it first released it was magic to all. Disney/KK has completely destroyed the very foundation of the franchise!! they purchased an I.P. that they do not understand!!!!!!! it is an I.P. that Disney did not create, nor is Star Wars a comic book type I.P. although yes and argument can be made about that. Disney can make a descent movie sporadically through time but it will never be through the perspective of what George Lucas created it is now Disnified and is not created with fans in mind! they have called customers/fans sexist, mysoginist, & toxic! when in actuality Disney/KK are misandrist!!!! unfortunately I no longer care about Star Wars, there's no reason to! they will not repair the damage that they themselves created, better to realize that now than later!! George Lucas let go of Star Wars, so now more than half the former fans have also. Star Wars is now an LGBTQ brand rather than just normal story telling, accept it now rather than later. There is no reason to waste time & money on something that considers its fans/customers to be toxic, or whatever else they choose to call us because it honestly no longer matters! About appealing to the younger generation; the easiest way to do so is to make a movies that appeal both to the younger and the older generation. The reason for that is simple, if they do so, the older Star Wars fans will watch Star Wars with their children and that way introduce a younger generation. Making a series that is aimed more for children than adults will ironically be less effective at drawing a younger generation.

I've watched the trailers for Skeleton Crew and don't really feel anything either way about it. There's a few things that George wouldn't like eg it looks too Earth like suburbia, the dad wearing glasses is a no no and the pirates guns looking like flintocks But apart from those small things there's no red flags. Yet at the same time nothing appealing to make me think I want to watch it. If previous shows hadn't been so awful I might be inclined to give it a go. If people like it, that tend have the same tastes as me I might then give it a try when it's run it's course.

As far as I'm concerned, it's not star wars. I wish the best to the guys involved in the series, but I'm happy to pass: the only products I feel the desire to recover are the animated ones, and here too there are ups and downs, although I've mostly been satisfied, for now.

I very much so disagree with you Coach. Disney has owned Lucasfilm for over a decade and they still haven’t given us a Lucasfilm that gives Marvel in its heyday competition. Disney isn’t serious about Lucasfilm and they do not have the minds at Lucasfilm to be serious about the studio. Disney of late has not been a trustworthy company for content to let my children watch. And Star Wars means I want content I can watch with my children but D+ isn’t the service I want Star Wars on. I want movies. I’m so certain I want movies that I have stories to out pace The Infinity Saga. So Disney if you want success hire me and I’ll help solve your Lucasfilm problems. Have Hope fans!

Andor didn't feel or look like Star Wars to me. I felt as if I watched a generic Sci fi show, Blade Runner etc and even a BBC documentary on world war 2. That said, it was very good with the writing, directing and acting but it wasn't a fun watch, as it lacked the essence , the DNA of Star Wars for me. Respect your opinion 100 percent🤗

I'm going into it with an open mind. It looks fun. It looks like a good adventure. I don't think it's going to save Star Wars by any stretch. But I'm hoping this show really is the breath of fresh air it's looking to be.
As a life-long fan & collector I see absolutely nothing in the trailers of this show I would want to purchase as an action figure.. nothing!
You are spot on Coach. This looks like uncomplicated fun that will not damage canon. The bar scene even reminded me a bit of Farscape, one of my favorite shows. Maybe it will be comic relief enough to bolster the seriousness of Andor season 2.

I don't have Disney Plus, I'm going to try in 2025 to buy less LEGO Star Wars and I'm hoping that Ahsoka shows up in Skeleton Crew and saves the Day.... But other than that I could care less about this show. I will be watching you guys, though.

For a record, I am kinda getting tired of Grogu. I loved them for his time, but that’s about enough. I’m gonna need some kind of growth to happen with him. Personally, he should not have came back after he went with Luke. He should’ve stayed with Luke, got trained and left it right there and maybe he came back or they saw him somewhere in the galaxy as a padiwan or whatever he ended up being.

I completely agree with you Coach 💯 when I watched the Skeleton Crew trailer honestly it just looks dull, the same looking type planets, except one biome that just looks like American Suburbia. I really didn't like the style how they did the trailer, it was giving me too much of a Guardians of the Galaxy style, and that Major Tom David Bowie music, really!? This is meant to be STAR WARS!!! There shouldn't be any of our Real World Music in starwars, it should have it's own unique music.
I really feel this was lazy on Disney's and Lucasfilm's part, it's like they just dont have any original ideas of what to do whatsoever. Trying way too hard to play it very safe for the younguns and kid audience out there; kids today would be able to get into starwars IF there was a new movie or series that just blew us older Fans away. Like really impress us and get us excited, because when real *Hype* is generated in us older fans and get excited, that trickles on down to the kids and the mainstream normies.
At this point the IP is a utter joke and I gotta be honest here, I'm NOT going to be checking out other TH-camr's channels like Thor Skywalker and SWT, because watching their reviews of the Skeleton trailer, they're starting to get like they will accept anything even if it's just average. It's really got to a point now where the Acolyte has really made alot of fans out there seriously lower their expectations, I mean like LOW; and that's not me heck no!
I will wait until about 2-3 weeks into this show being out, so like the 3rd episode, and EBN you guys, Coach & Nick are the only starwars youtubers i trust now (sorry). Because you guys said honestly you didn't have much faith in X-Men 97, then you gave it a chance and you said honestly you was surprised at how good that show was and you actually liked it. So after ep3 of Skeleton Crew, if you and Nick say this show is actually good, I will give it a chance, and i'll sign back up to D+ BUT if you're saying it's really just average and nothing special, I give it a miss.

Well stated. I am only seeing this show as generic Disney Kids sci fi show. Nothing more, as it doesn't come across as Star Wars at all. The music and suburbia took me right out of Star Wars. I can see what Disney Lucasfilm are trying to do, to attract the younglings. I would love to hear what younger audiences have to say about this show as they say how it is. I will watch it because it looks fun and entertaining, escapism with high quality production value but I just don't see Star Wars but I see Goonies, Lost in Space, ET etc, which is fine but unoriginal. I appreciate the homage to those shows but as we all know Hollywood fears innovation.

I do also understand that Disney are trying to attract the kids, the young generation here with this show; personally I feel that could have actually been achieved IF Disney/Lucasfilm had simply just allowed Jon Favreau to continue with what he was trying to do, coming off of Mando Season 2. I think a spin-off series all about the Adventures of Luke with Grogu set over a period of about 6-7 years would have easily appealed to the kids out there and would have been fun *escapism*, it would also have massively appealed to us older Fans too who wanted to see more of Luke at still that younger age, in the early days of establishing his new Jedi Order.
I feel Skeleton Crew could focused too much on nods and homages to classic Spielbergian Films. Also my issue is that "Disney Starwars" is seriously lost right now, to such a point they're trying to draw lots of inspiration from other classic things instead of doing their own original ideas.
Most often it needs someone to just come in and think outside the box alittle, and bring something new and original to the table, that is innovative and really just kinda forces Hollywood to get onboard and basically do the same. Lucas did this in 77 and helped influence the Industry. I think we need this again.

The main thing that concerns me is the "other" content creators. They seem to be convinced that we are going to "attack" the children. I feel that
1) ANY critique about the characters is going to be taken out of context so they can say the "chuds" are attacking the children
2) that someone is going to pretend to be one of the "chuds" and actually says something bad about the kids so they can be all "look, we told you they were going to do it!"
I feel this is a fail no matter what our opinions are. That side needs to have a reason to be mad at us to have something to post about.

If you like what you saw for this trailer for Skeleton Crew, that's fine... but this thing won't save Star Wars... if the best Star Wars can do is a kids show emulating Goonies in Space than Star Wars in space... I dunno, but I am sure it'll be fine.
To be honest this feels like one of the first projects they should have done. Jedi Master goes around finding students, making it an entry point to the lore, setting, notable worlds, all while teaching his padawans and having adventures. It really isn't that hard.
Do I feel like watching (another) "kiddie" show? Not really, No. I would watch a "Star Wars" show if Burbank had the talent and the honest intention to produce one. Unfortunately, Disney doesn't have the talent or the mindset to do "Star Wars" shows anymore. Why this is true needs no discussion here and now. The idea for the show itself has been done, and done better. It is old, shopworn and like the rest of Disney, just plain tired. I am far past the point where I can be "cute" bombed into watching something with an IP label stuck on it. The first trailer does nothing to convince me that the show is worth the time I would rather spend on other projects. (Yes, for me to watch a show, the show has to EARN my viewership.) So Far, this cute moppet-fest is just button-pushing at its worst. There are about twenty things I would rather do than waste my time on this show. It is as if Disney is once again "going through the motions" and using formulas in place of original creative thinking.
Excellent Vlog, am a Collector and movie buff. My wife is not a Star Wars fan but I was sitting here watching the trailer and she said “looks good but does look very Goonies in Star Wars”. It’ll take a lot more than one good show (if this turns out to be good) for me to start to even give any new Star Wars a chance again. I’m on the fence if I’m even going to see the Mando movie for that reason.

Here is my opinion on all of this. Book of Boba, Obi Wan, Mandalorian S.3, and Acolyte have been real bummers. Bad writing across the board. However, not gonna judge Skeleton Crew show til I see it. It is definitely geared for kids and most likely will be lighthearted. Not gonna trip if this isn't dark & action packed. If there is actual good writing, then I will be all in. I will say, I am excited for Andor. Like super hyped.
Star Wars captured an entire generation! it was a kids movie made for adults that's why when it first released it was magic to all. Disney/KK has completely destroyed the very foundation of the franchise!! they purchased an I.P. that they do not understand!!!!!!! it is an I.P. that Disney did not create, nor is Star Wars a comic book type I.P. although yes and argument can be made about that. Disney can make a descent movie sporadically through time but it will never be through the perspective of what George Lucas created it is now Disnified and is not created with fans in mind! they have called customers/fans sexist, mysoginist, & toxic! when in actuality Disney/KK are misandrist!!!! unfortunately I no longer care about Star Wars, there's no reason to! they will not repair the damage that they themselves created, better to realize that now than later!! George Lucas let go of Star Wars, so now more than half the former fans have also. Star Wars is now an LGBTQ brand rather than just normal story telling, accept it now rather than later. There is no reason to waste time & money on something that considers its fans/customers to be toxic, or whatever else they choose to call us because it honestly no longer matters! Star Wars will never be what it once was!!! believe it now rather than later.

About appealing to the younger generation; the easiest way to do so is to make a movies that appeal both to the younger and the older generation. The reason for that is simple, if they do so, the older Star Wars fans will watch Star Wars with their children and that way introduce a younger generation. Making a series that is aimed more for children than adults will ironically be less effective at drawing a younger generation.

Andor was actually okay, which was a shock to me, but with Lucasfilm's "bait 'n' switch" behaviors, that only means that Cassian is going to be gay or robosexual with K-2SO in season 2, like Lando was with L3-37 in Solo A Star Wars Story. I guess I could understand this "creative decision" if L3-37 was a gorgeous Femmebot like from Austin Powers, but it was a ridiculous looking preachy cockney accented kitchen appliance that didn't even have the sex appeal of a $20 fleshlite from Temu.
I've watched the trailers for Skeleton Crew and don't really feel anything either way about it. There's a few things that George wouldn't like eg it looks too Earth like suburbia, the dad wearing glasses is a no no and the pirates guns looking like flintocks But apart from those small things there's no red flags. Yet at the same time nothing appealing to make me think I want to watch it. If previous shows hadn't been so awful I might be inclined to give it a go. If people like it, that tend have the same tastes as me I might then give it a try when it's run it's course.

As far as I'm concerned, it's not star wars. I wish the best to the guys involved in the series, but I'm happy to pass: the only products I feel the desire to recover are the animated ones, and here too there are ups and downs, although I've mostly been satisfied, for now.

I very much so disagree with you Coach. Disney has owned Lucasfilm for over a decade and they still haven’t given us a Lucasfilm that gives Marvel in its heyday competition. Disney isn’t serious about Lucasfilm and they do not have the minds at Lucasfilm to be serious about the studio. Disney of late has not been a trustworthy company for content to let my children watch. And Star Wars means I want content I can watch with my children but D+ isn’t the service I want Star Wars on. I want movies. I’m so certain I want movies that I have stories to out pace The Infinity Saga. So Disney if you want success hire me and I’ll help solve your Lucasfilm problems. Have Hope fans!

This show doesn’t look or feel like Star Wars, it doesn’t have that essence and that the biggest problem with all of Disney Star Wars except Rogue One and Andor.
Andor didn't feel or look like Star Wars to me. I felt as if I watched a generic Sci fi show, Blade Runner etc and even a BBC documentary on world war 2. That said, it was very good with the writing, directing and acting but it wasn't a fun watch, as it lacked the essence , the DNA of Star Wars for me. Respect your opinion 100 percent🤗
