But fairly i have to say that many thais who are working in tourist areas in thailand since years cant also say not more than 5 words in english. And english is the world language and probably much easier to learn than thai.
Understand the dual personality thing. If my Thai friends ever hear me speak English they always say I sound like a different person. More mature and ‘manly’, less jokey. Guess my voice goes up a few octaves to hit those tones when speaking Thai. Great content guys.
It is because the language too my friend in my opinion that’s made us always laugh like a stupid kid all the time because I’m a Thai been living in another country before and now have a lot of foreigner friends and I found a lot of stress when using English because I know it’s made me sounds like another person and kind of bored and stress man😂😂
I think that's very common especially when it's two languages that aren't closely related and have very different sounds. I don't notice it as much with people who speak like English and German because they are from the same language family and even either of these two and Spanish for example is also not that far off
I like the part where he talked about a shift in personality out of language he uses. I somehow can relate it as someone who use English only at work/study. My friends once said that I do look more matured and polite when using English, while it’s obviously the opposite in my native tongue. 😂😂
Chris should blog about life in Thailand, too. He could say a lot of interesting things, given the degree to which he is integrated into the local environment.
Now I know why Chris speak perfectly Thai and Esan. I admire your ability to live in two worlds. But I am sure there will be some reverse culture shock. Paddy should have asked him about that. Thanks for correcting the myths people have about Thailand.
People who think that those myths are true, I have been to Thailand many times and I come for the food, culture and the amazing places, I have never been into a bar or anything like that, but I don’t drink alcohol so it’s not my idea of a fun environment, I would much rather walk around a night market and eat great street food. I love Thailand been coming since a girlfriend suggested we go because she still goes there, that was in 1995 and she is 60 now and still loves it, we are still friend’s all these years later.

I think that's very common especially when it's two languages that aren't closely related and have very different sounds.
I don't notice it as much with people who speak like English and German because they are from the same language family and even either of these two and Spanish for example is also not that far off
Wow! Total transformation.... took me a minute to recognise him as the same guy! Great interview
I like the part where he talked about a shift in personality out of language he uses. I somehow can relate it as someone who use English only at work/study. My friends once said that I do look more matured and polite when using English, while it’s obviously the opposite in my native tongue. 😂😂
I’m Thai 100% in Rayong Thailand 🇹🇭 I love the way you grown up Chris. Nice to listen to you and I love to learn from everyone. 😁🙏🏻🤩🌳🎉🫡
Omg, you sound like a native Thai! After hearing you stay here for like 20 years already
I love his new style :D
Aussie here with a Thai partner! So interesting listening to you guys speak Thai with such ease. Legends 🎉
Chris should blog about life in Thailand, too. He could say a lot of interesting things, given the degree to which he is integrated into the local environment.
Cool two of Thai speaking skills
Very interesting Paddy you've got a new subscriber
Thanks a lot for subbing!
Oh wow, an update video out of the blue! Awesome!
Now I know why Chris speak perfectly Thai and Esan. I admire your ability to live in two worlds. But I am sure there will be some reverse culture shock. Paddy should have asked him about that. Thanks for correcting the myths people have about Thailand.
I mean Chris is Thai.
I'm going back over Paddy's videos now, and it's soo great to see how both Chris and Paddy swap between Thai/English without effort.
Hi watching from Philippines 🇵🇭
Salamat for watching!!!
I enjoyed the video. And Chris came over as a really nice guy
Hey Chris I’m from Logan Reserve now living in Thailand and I was showing my wife your utube with patty and she showed me your movie in Thailand and said your a superstar

😊😊😊
Thank you Paddy for the excellent content!
Cheers from Seattle.
Thanks Larry!
You should’ve seen my face! 😂 awesome to hear from Chris again!🫶🏼
This was interesting. I am a 56 yr old Australian single dad in isaan raising my 2 "Luk Krung" and thai stepdaughter alone as "the only farang in the village". It was great to hear his perspective.
You seem to be I hope that you find a ที่รักใหม่ soon. 👍
Isaan only good for money
Im pretty sure Farang is from the Hindi term Farangi, which shares the same meaning
@@primafacie5029 it was a Persian term used to describe the French and entered Thai language in the early Ayutthaya period. No doubt a similar word entered Hindi via Islamic contact as well.
you guys speak Thai really well...I'm quite ashamed being a Malaysian Siamese yet couldn't speak much of Thai myself. 😅
I mean you got the English skill that's much better. ☺
No matter what they look like, we need to respect these guys without any discrimination.
Fantastic story and beautiful Thai!
Very impressive❤Your Thai is much better than mine😜
Chris needs to start a TH-cam channel.
Great content! What an interesting story and he was very insightful.
Great interview, very interesting and informative, he is a very lucky person having been brought up in a Thai village.
Wow I ve also lived in Thailand since I was 8 years old, wish I met more people like this guy but it is indeed very rare! Awesome interview and makes me feel less alone.
Great interview.
My parents went to Belize in Central America on September 1969 and I grew up there. Went to local schools and grew up Belizean with no contact with Canada for most of my life. It was great.
Paddy, you always deliver such good contents.
Keep going bro!!
@@ThaiTalkwithPaddyYou Paddy speaking with Chris is pure gold content for me.
I've looked at this video and the other (3 years back) several times because it makes me happy😊.
Greeting from Sweden🌤🇸🇪🙏
This guys channel is awesome. I'm an Australian trying to learn Thai so I'm loving consuming as much content like this as I can.
Great video Paddy, its so cool when someone has grown up in another country and speaks the language fluently.
Why, thanks Maricel. I moved to Australia at the age of 7 and speak English fluently. Dunno if there's much of a market for that in terms of TH-cam content though. :(
Another lovely video. I enjoyed the interview. You are a natural at this. Congratulations
You should check out Long Dern Do next time you're looking for a drink in Rangsit, nice laid back vibe and music.
So happy you got him back. I remember the original video.
He is right though, you are like me, you want the best of both worlds, A$ & Thai life? I have only just got it now.
I'm back in BKK 4 weeks for 3 months. Happy to buy you coffee, or something stronger if you fancy some good conversation?
Keep up the great work, Thank you, Tony
Just when Chris pronounce Sydney, his homeland, with Thai accent... 🤣😁🤭
This was just the video that I needed to see, especially about having multiple identities.
Fantastic vid - I'll advise any mates to watch this
Great interview Paddy! It's amazing to learn a new language. And it's true that switching between languages also carries another variation of one's personality.
I can speak German, Spanish, English & enough Thai. And I've noticed in myself, in a scale of seriousness carried in each of those languages, I would say; Thai is the most layback language, secondly, English, thirdly Spanish and lastly German at the highest level of seriousness.
Keep up the great content!
You both bought tears to my eyes. Ha pom.
I stuffed up. I think it's kha phom or there abouts. My daughter went to Rangsit Uni. Foregive my spellin Kor tort khup.
Fantastic interview and good vibes.
language access and Thai culture makes many foreigners have a positive mindset. have a smile like a Thai person cute like thai people
Very fascinating! love Chris’s story!
