    Lived in many parts of the world but loved"the Whifflet" where I was born and brought up.Thanks for the memories.

    Thank you for those memories of my old home town.... you can even see my Dad's Chemist shop in Main Street, where he moved from Dunbeth Road, J.L. Whitton Ltd formerly Whitton & Sharpe.....he also had a branch in Bank Street which dealt in photography as well as the usual chemist's "stuff"......

    In my memory Coatbridge always made Bellshill look high class.

    I just saw a video of Coatbridge my home time. As a young boy my friends and I used to play close to the old Monkland canal. Can anyone tell me the source and where it commenced and ended. I wonder why it was filled in. What was the criteria/ reason for this. In retrospect and with vision it could have been developed for recreational purposes as which some English towns have did. I would be grateful if someone could enlighten me bout it.

    When I look around the internet thereare some great pages and videos about towns all over Lanarkshire: Coatbridge, Motherwell, Wishaw, Hamilton, even Holytown. But, Bellshill? Orange marches.
