Never heard this performance before - thanks very much! Love the tempo and “messier,” more frantic feel. (Wish they had more of the bass in the mix way back when, but beggars/bootleggers can’t be choosers)
Twelve inch left craters in my brain, back in the days. Still visible. Now what can I say? Prince & his preaching of a powerful/peaceful revolution. You all got to be cool, what's happening? Kid Creole - Que Pasa congas included (8;38)
7:40 GODDAM! A fight at a Prince concert!? I'm surprised the media didn't get a hold of it. With all the choas that Prince was going through,it would have been terrible. But attention is attention, and Prince would have used it to his advantage.
@@courylanders4142 At first I thought it was staged, ‘cause James Brown famously did this kind of bit during a crowd fight in his show the night MLK Jr was killed. But then this same thing happened during America on Parade Tour when they were jamming 😂 But I think both times were real, he was just sounded funny with how he encouraged them. During that same Parade Tour, the same show I’m referencing to actually, he said “Be cool y’all, come on! We gotta have a good time!” during A Love Bizarre, so perhaps he often had crowd fights happening, I’m shocked the media didn’t cover it either. But I mean, IMO that “Boom” chant part of America in front of certain crowds could cause a potential square up 😂✊🏾💣💥💯 That song is an aggressively patriotic version of Baby I’m A Star.
@@blaqmarc they went to each other's concerts!! They were great friends.. Lenny Kravitz and Cat Glover confirmed it. They even been to each other's homes. They have a collab in Prince's vault.
@@ajsdrumcovers2412 no there was never a tour officially for ATWIAD specifically , he incorporated and performed this one on the Purple Rain tour about a month before the album was released
In this recording, Prince is singing a song that demonstrates his selfless (not selfish) love & concern for his borthers & sisters, so it would make sense that he would get the shot. (BTW, the pandemic is not over...duh! 🙄 )
Go, Sheila!
Brownmark Gotdamn!! 🔥🔥
This was played a month prior ATWIAD release
Like other ATWIAD songs were performed during the Purple Rain Tour.
Prince was bored to performe every night the same songs
When I saw it, they played this as an encore as well as Raspberry Beret and Condition Of The Heart
Great quality for a Purple Rain boot. Prince could’ve toured the world for two years with Purple Rain but he was already over it and ready to move on…
Absolute steamroller of a performance

Thanks for sharing this. An aggressive performance of an aggressive song.
Yes
This version could make a paralyzed man tap his toes from his wheelchair.
This version is insane I love it
I have to calm down after listening to this performance. Shut up already…….damn!
I love how this live version is so different from the official live video. Much more rhythmic
Killa Purple Music right here. Doing my holy dance stepp' to this with a James Brown slide in between, YESSS SUH!!!! 💜🎶
THIS IS FUNKY! This sounds better than the original audio!
Still a BANGER!!!
Man this should’ve been included in the live concert that’s be reproduced so many times.

To bad they don't have this version live where you can see him perform it ; have another version but he plays guitar and drums
This version is better than the live video version in Germany i think the Live video version had too many horns
Pretty sure it's Eric Leeds playing in this, but don't think he was full time until '86
Could you upload 17 days from Uniondal please?
After all this time Jimmy still living on that mushroom 🍄 cloud 02:07
Was this played before or after Baby I'm A Star in the setlist? I can imagine the audience was confused when they heard this intro
It was after Purple Rain

After Purple Rain, the lights came on the the Coliseum and we went to the lobby. All of a sudden the beat started and we ran back in to watch
Was it a song that turned into a jam or opposite, or both ways>>>?
Brilliant better then MJ any day of the week......
Stop it. They’re both legends in their own right.
Mj was brilliant at what he did prince was brilliant too .when you start comparing the 2 you miss what was special about both of them
You could say MJ was a brilliant performer, but what else did he do? Prince wrote, arranged, mixed, composed & performed all his material.
And MJ is a Prince fan that went to Prince’s concerts. There’s tons of stories about MJ sitting in the audience.

"Ya'll got be cool"...then back to jammin'
This on the purple rain tour right ?
The "Around the World in a Day" Tour.
@@michaellewis2133 wait there was a “ Around the World in a Day” Tour

This was from the Purple Rain tour.It ended in April, and then Prince released Around the world in a day. America was released in the fall of 1985.
what's the lyrics at 6:59?
“Oh, when the saints go marching in”
Thanx a lot@@michaelwilcox5168

I'd like to think he would've had the sense to get vaccinated, but then he did believe in things like chemtrails, so who knows
