Beaters work so hard and so contentiously. They are the heart of what happens on a day. know this because I was one for 15 years and now I shoot down at the front instead!!!
I would like to see a corresponding video from the guns point of view. This is what the beater see and this is what happened at the shooting line. Good video.
They certainly do... He said in the beginning that it was a syndicate shoot. So that means they have paid an upfront fee and in return they will be given a set amount of shoots over the season. It is pretty expensive. The beaters are probably volunteers from the locality but some shoots do hire beaters in times of need. Also at the very end of the season, it's courtesy to give the beaters a day shooting for free.
Depends on what type of shoot you are looking to join and what you what to be doing. If your looking at a large estate game shoot you’d be best off contacting the estate office and enquire about shoot days, if it’s beating then phone the estate office and ask about beating or ask for the head keepers phone number and ring them And ask. Private syndicates are a bit harder to join as they are often more tight groups, however if you know the farm whose ground the syndicate uses for the shoot you could call round and just ask about who the keeper or shoot captain is.

We sure don’t hunt pheasants like that in the USA! That sure does look like a fun shoot. A lot of shots fired a lot of game taken. What’s not to like?
