I picked one up today, and have been flying it around for the last few hours. Really cool ship, definitely my favorite of the starters now. It maneuvers insanely well, even in atmosphere. Combine that with the incredible cockpit view and you have one of the most fun to fly ships in the game honestly Doesn't have all that many practical uses in-game at the moment, it's a bit less useful than a titan in most aspects, but the overall feel of the ship more than makes up for it imo
It's got less guns than a Titan, wom't be able to hold a motorbike, has slightly less cargo, has an _elevator_ to get out of your ship every single time... But it has _the_ best cockpit in the game, it has a shower, and can rotate faster. Also the unique Halo aesthetic.
The only difference is the titan having 1 S4 isnt it? Not really that much of a difference seeing as how the titan is slow and sluggish even in space. I do agree the syulen's elevator is a pain and the lack of a cargo hold sucks.
Ive tested the ship for 5 hours now, its so hard not to love it, but I do think, the number 1 for this ship must be exploration / sightseeing OR recon, its fast, flys so well. Very uniq.
Hahaha, I agree! Honestly I think a camera toggle mode would be really helpful for a ship like this (switching viewpoints), its quite a bit disorienting! And congrats on your pickup!
@@ViciDeum The seat should rotate. So you are sitting with the top of your head pointing to the "front" of the cockpit. So when it's in "landing" mode it flies more like a Flying Saucer.
Amazing forward acceleration, good scm speed, good top speed, great qt and hydrogen tank, 3xS3 guns, 12S2 missiles, 2xS1 shields, and 6SCU. It flies amazingly in space with that crazy forward acceleration and maneuvering thrusters too. It makes for a great recon ship, blockade runner, as well as an everyday ship just to get to different places. My only criticism is the elevator and how janky it can be at times.
How would this compare to the avenger titan? I've been waiting to get the game til I had more money and to make sure I got a solid & well-rounded ship. I've narrowed it down to this one and the avenger titan... a little help and advice would be great. Oh and with the current holiday sale, the titan is $56 vs the Syulen at $72
I’d recommend the Titan! It’s a great all rounder and just an awesome ship! And since it’s cheaper, you can just upgrade to the Syulen after if you change your mind!
TBH with 3 S3's I've been testing it out as a fighter. Agility is also nice to have as a fighter. I'm not impressed by it though, it seems fragile due to the large cross-section so that your agility doesn't mean that much. That was in atmosphere though against a Cutlass.. and I did win, but.. Further testing required. 3 S3 IS very nice, but the capacitor is a bit sparse I feel maybe. Well, it's going to be awesome to just fly around doing a variety of missions, and that long fuel range (unless other ships get that too) means it'll be very useful to get to further away places and bedlog there.
Yeah the capacitor is a bit lacking, had no issues up until VHRT. Seeing as how it is a starter ship and not really a pure fighter it did better than I had expected.
I've rented this ship and can say... I'm having an absolute blast crashing it while getting the hang of landing it with decoupled techniques. If you see pieces of this ship laying around near NB, it's probably because of me. SO much fun.
It was such a fun experience to fly it and an amazing new addition to the vehicle lineup, they absolutely crushed it! And I agree, while I didn't pick one up for myself (as it doesn't fit in my fleet), I love its inclusion in the game!
I think it could become a fun little drug runner in the future, especially with pyro and larger ships not fitting through the smaller unofficial wormholes, plus it’s fast and follows gatacs ‘blockade runner’ design philosophy, it may not have the storage of the nomad but it keeps it more secure with those folding arms that tuck the cargo in so it can’t be as easily taken, plus it has the weapon racks internal to be able to prepare for any investigations about to come aboard
Really, I only see it as possibly a personal shuttle. It has great living arrangements but it has a massive profile and only fit for high security space imho.
She tall but the foot print on the ground lets you put this thing down in some real tight spots. This thing is a pretty high tier bunker runner thats gonna be evem better when we can buy empty boxes to carry loot and what not in for the external grid.

I agree, and really hope to see more awesome designs like it going forward! And it is a big squishy (esp for a ship of its size). A single S3 missile could take out a few pylons but it may have just been a bug as well!
Hahaha, fair enough! I guess sleek isn't quite the right word for its profile; although it has a really sleek interior! But I still think its damn sexy!

It's definitely a tradeoff but worth it in my opinion for what you get!
Speaking of #4 I'd love to see short to medium range cargo races. Basically get X amount of SCU from A to B.
Oh that would be an awesome idea! And for the larger ships I'd love to see a competitor for the Hercules lineup; that ship just dominates its class!

I own all the alien ships in SC, seeing this one made me shine with joy, I will use it as a Daily along with the Banu Defender

The Syulen highly reminds me of a drop pod from halo
Especially when the landing gear is down!
Ironically this is the most effective way to land it. The sylen can stop a 500m/s drop in an instant.

Surprised you didn't mention use it for cargo? Though I wish I knew how to put cargo boxes on the outside.
Thats a fair point! I feel its 6SCU aren't as easy to load as the Titan or others, but it definitely helps and can be used for smaller runs!

Yea the buggy elevator can be tricky, but I agree its performance is incredible!
