I think an interesting variation of this might be "You can never catch pokemon. After every trainer battle, you take the opponent's team (and your old team is lost forever)". This is definitely much easier, as you can train the opponent's team before the next battle, but it would introduce some interesting strategy where you could leave strong trainers until you need a good team. Probably possible to softlock due to HMs, but I bet there's a way to route around it or use death warps or something.

This is a really interesting challenge, I like the balance it makes with forcing you to not overlevel, in a way that isn't just a hard level cap You took a different approach to the rules/coding than I would have, which isn't a bad thing, but I'd be interested to see it done my way (if it can be coded) My rules/changes would be: 1. No items in battle (I find Potions and X Items to just be overpowered), or maybe allowing items but only the exact same ones the opponent trainer has/uses, including the number of them 2. You ARE allowed to swap out your team with boxes and stuff 3. You have to beat each trainer BOTH with the swapped teams and with your own team So you'd battle them first with their team and them using yours, and then immediately after that you'd battle the exact same trainer again, but where you're both using your normal teams This to me makes it interesting because it becomes a test of skill and strategy, proving you're better than the opponent regardless of the team you're given, and you can't just get lucky by getting the easy team from the coin flip, since you need to win both ways I'd also want a way to prevent just saving before each battle until you get lucky and win, of course there's always luck in Pokémon, but if it takes 10 tries to beat a battle with the same team, then I feel like you should change your team up and find a more consistent strategy (but of course with your rules that don't allow the use of boxes, that becomes a lot more difficult since your team isn't as malleable)
Probably the more efficient line is just flip the "boss battle" there in not a reasonable expectation random grunts or route trainers will very actually beat the player, particuarly if the players team is fully healed before every fight. Every battle flipping both ways would likely be to tedious since you would have to continously switch your party size to accomodate for the opponents team size.
Here’s a challenge. You only get to choose a starter then every time you beat a trainer you gain one of their Pokémon. When you get a full team the same happens but the new Pokémon replaces a random team member.
This is such a new and refreshing editing style. I feel like you get a lot of uninspired gimmicks and derivative editing styles emulating other big gimmick youtbers like SmallAnt on TH-cam, so this incredibly fresh and natural style is awesome !
How would a nuzlocke work for this. You either faint all the Pokémon you catch for yourself and end the run or every battle gives you new Pokémon to use. Unless meaning if you lose once you start over or you can’t refight optional trainers if you lose.
@@plagueamer4877 Obviously if you kill your own monster because your team swapped then they wouldn't be considered dead. But, if one of your original monsters dies in battle and you control them, then it's considered dead. Also, if you white out to a trainer the run is dead
Really good concept! It's good to see someone making their own rom hacks to challenge themselves. Keep it up I'm confident your channel will keep growing 👍
I've seen imprison/transform Mew before, you imprison then you transform and the imprison is still active so you lock all their moves and they struggle to death

So you'd battle them first with their team and them using yours, and then immediately after that you'd battle the exact same trainer again, but where you're both using your normal teams
This to me makes it interesting because it becomes a test of skill and strategy, proving you're better than the opponent regardless of the team you're given, and you can't just get lucky by getting the easy team from the coin flip, since you need to win both ways
I'd also want a way to prevent just saving before each battle until you get lucky and win, of course there's always luck in Pokémon, but if it takes 10 tries to beat a battle with the same team, then I feel like you should change your team up and find a more consistent strategy (but of course with your rules that don't allow the use of boxes, that becomes a lot more difficult since your team isn't as malleable)
Well, there's a unique way to beat a Pokémon game. Kudos. Have a sub.
Damn this was such a well thought out challenge. I gotta give it to u bro, I really enjoyed this, thank you.
This video is so original.
Nice video and great mod 👍
This is such a new and refreshing editing style. I feel like you get a lot of uninspired gimmicks and derivative editing styles emulating other big gimmick youtbers like SmallAnt on TH-cam, so this incredibly fresh and natural style is awesome !
man this was a great video keep making this type of content its amazing
Subbed and followed on Twitch! Can't wait to see more stuff like this, I love weird Pokemon challenges.
I feel like Shedinja would have made this a lot easier, what with only taking one hit to kill itself of you get a mon with only Swagger.
While I do agree, he'd have to lose a slot for a Nincada as well, limiting his Pokémon choices, even with the two daycare slots.
Ninjask takes up a slot but ninjas can outsized pokemon of a much higher level than itself, making it great for the toxic tm.
I love how this is like a 2nd person POV playthrough
Okay run & analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
This channel should have at least 100k! The quality speaks for itself
This is very cool idea. I can definitely see popular streamers try and nuzlocke this
How would a nuzlocke work for this.
I never thought I'd see Imprison be an actually useful move.
I've seen imprison/transform Mew before, you imprison then you transform and the imprison is still active so you lock all their moves and they struggle to death
This is the most frustrating and funniest challenge I've seen
Being able to think about this and mod it yourself is very impressive
Really interesting, if your Pokémon are too weak, you will loose when having them, if your Pokémon are too strong, you will loose when you don’t have them
"Alright, we won that battle, how you feeling Pelipper?"
Pelipper: "Arf arf!"
"WHAT THE--?"
When you mentioned the Daycare I thought you were going to make a handicapped Lv.100 Pokemon that could be defeated to gain EXP.
Ok damn, that's really quite clever.
can you create a mod in which you change your team for the team of the last trainer you defeated?
Good video, im lovning it
