    Oh gosh, I’m most crying over this! This is the kind of horsemanship and relationship between horse and rider that needs to be used in Olympic games.

      @Morgan Conley yes..today..i dont find in the horse world the bond of trust you see between these two. But sometimes see it in the kid and horse everyday life. Sadly..too many horses are trained..than handed to rider/owner and no deep bondwas built.

      Really good, impressig, nice to see dressage riders practising horsemanship, BUT: Why can't he just leave that damn mouthcloser??? It would work also without.

    • @forestwoods5499
      @forestwoods5499 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The olympics would then change it so that riders would have to work with a different horse just as what caused the hoopla this year. Each horse is different as is each rider. Would you trust someone that you have never worked with? Just like the all star ball games, it is hard to perform at the same rate they do with their own team.
      If the olympics would leave a horse with it’s own rider and trainer there would be a lot less problems and each would be far more comfortable and perform better. No justification for hitting the horse, but the Olympic committee that made the rules are just as guilty because they either don’t care or they are too dumb to know this.

    And moreover, the regularity of her stride in the trot NEVER CHANGES! Not an ear back; not the slightest tension. This video is a MASTER CLASS in deconditioning the flight response in the horse. And as someone who has spent decades in the academic study and application of these principles to the ethical training of horses and dogs, I salute this person and this lovely mare!

    • @alisav8394
      @alisav8394 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's not because Esmeralda is special, it's because she got good training. Your horse can be like Esmeralda too if you invest some time into training him/her!

      @hezmydaddyo2722 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This isn’t the first time she’s seen the BG mean tarp. She’s had plenty of “bomb proofing” as any well trained horse should. She’s a beauty.

    • @francessweeney2308
      @francessweeney2308 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don't start training a horse from 4 years old- that is the age they can be ridden. Before that age; other skills will be taught; accepting a mouthing bit, being led,tied up, grooming exposure to 'spooky' items like tarps are done long before a saddle goes anywhere near that horse's back. Esmeralda is a very well balanced mare who has received early exposure to tarps.

    This is just how close every animal owner should be to their animal. Know them so well that you don't need anything but your voice to handle them.

    • @PonderingStudent
      @PonderingStudent 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think the closest I've seen to this elsewhere is Emily, from the TH-cam channel Snake Discovery, grooming her macaw Cheynne. Every parrot I've ever seen HATES getting their claws and beak trimmed (you have to use a dremmel type power tool to do it), even the calmest, best trained birds have to be wrapped in a towel, or at the very least be held by one person whilst the other trims. Cheyenne just calmly lies on her back, completely unrestrained, with her feet in the air, until Emily's done. Emily says in the video that Cheyenne knows she'll get lots of treats afterwards, but still, the level of trust that shows...
      It's an old video, but you should be able to find it if you search.

    • @ArcadianRuin
      @ArcadianRuin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The crazy thing is he probably isn't even using his voice that much. Horses are so sensitive to your own tension and feelings and subtle cues, the best riders don't usually need to actually speak to them

      Did we notice his feeling, gentle , steady hands???
      She's such a lovely friend...
      My horse in teenage years...
      Had been a man's stockhorse...I lived in Sydney's nthn beaches...
      He would rear and run backward on a particular road with a left bend and hill to it... 1970's..He hated that blue flapping plastic over trailer sailers on people's front verges( between front fence and the road( usually grass))...
      He got to the point I could ride without using reins ( loose)or any lower calf or heel...
      As he learned to trust me, my conversational voice was enough.....mostly( haha)...
      He certainly did not get to the point this lovely grey mare has...re blue plastic tarpaulins..
      However, he became very calm re traffic, barking dogs, tooting cars etc...
      With my young nephews and nieces, he was like a gentle Labrador.

      It's a simple matter of practice. The amount of work and time that must have gone into desensitizing the horse is impressive, but the fact that it's possible is a no brainer. Horses have traditionally been used in all kinds of scary environments (war, mines, etc). Their brains are able to learn that some scary-seeming sensations are in fact non-dangerous.

      Not more trust... Per say, more like she was a lot calmer reading him from her back rather than when he was on the ground. When she was trotting beside him, she became slightly faster than him, and her ears were constantly flicking back and forth, checking her rider for his reaction too. Whereas while they were riding, she was slightly more determined and always forward. But that's just what I got from it.

    My trainer used to have a stud horse that was unflappable like that; an early hoof injury caused him to see people as friends who eased his pain, fed, and brushed him long before he was put under a saddle. And my own wonderful gelding used to follow at my elbow instead of ground tying when I dropped his reins. If the reins got in his way, he'd pick the slack up and carry them. It took a lot of hours in the saddle and on the ground for that to happen, so I'm really impressed with this display!

    I don’t know a thing about this and have never saw anything like it before but I am mesmerised at that gorgeous horse following her person at first I thought he had some type of noose round her when he was running then I noticed that she’s completely free from him but staying by his side!? I’m gobsmacked 😶
    Omg and then she bows at the end 😭😭😭 how wonderful

    i was wondering what was so difficult because i don't know horses and saw this randomly... up until i understood with the comments! The fact this looks so "easy" i guess really shows how well the two responded to each other and i super love that! Had no idea this was actually stressful to horses because they look sho chill together LOVE LOVE LOVE. this made me smile

    Now THAT's what you call desensitazation training successfully completed!
    How nice it would be if this was the standard for all horses. If only all horses and riders in sports had this level of trust, it'd make watching competitions much less heartbreaking at times and wholesome even.

    One of the most beautiful horses I’ve ever seen, gorgeous head and coat. Her bond with her handler is fantastic, this kind of relationship can’t be forced with harsh bits and tie-downs and draw reins, it takes time and genuine love from the rider to horse not just using the horse to win in sport like so many riders do. Bravo to this rider for actually respecting his horse and training her humanely
