- The 17 year-old suspect in the Southport stabbings has been identified by police as being 'from Cardiff.' So how how did false rumours spread online that he was 'an asylum seeker'? Disinformation operations analyst Stephanie Lamy speaks to Tom Swarbrick.
Meanwhile, tributes have poured in for the three girls who were killed, now named publicly as Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar.
Bebe, 6, Elsie, 7, and Alice, 9, were stabbed at a Taylor Swift dance club in the seaside town on Monday.
Eight other children were hurt, five of whom are in a critical condition in hospital. Two other adults are in a critical condition.
The families of two of the children paid tribute on Tuesday after they were named.
Bebe's family said: "No words can describe the devastation that has hit our family as try to deal with the loss of our little girl Bebe."

It took me 30 seconds to debunk the made-up name floating around on X. People need to understand that the police can not just name a 17 year old suspect. He needs to be charged, and then a judge needs to allow the real name to be released if it's deemed to be in the public interest. If this animal was 18, this would not be up for discussion.

Firstly, this is not the only thing being talked about, it is one thing being talked about. Secondly, it's an important thing to talk about. Thirdly, until the facts are actually known it's hard to talk about the facts beyond a basic description of them.

A lot of disinformation can be avoided by the police informing the public of what they know in a timely manner.
I ignore everything the police say, since they claimed Charles De Menezes was 'wearing unseasonably warm clothing' 'vaulted the ticket barrier and ran onto the train' and 'ignored orders to stop' . Disinformation IS the police.

The reason misinformation happens is because of NO information from the Police.
When someone is 17 the Police are not allowed to release details.
Police said he was born in Wales and yet people are still saying he came over on a boat last week. Sadly laws are in place to protect the perps more than the victims but what we shouldn't do is believe everything on the internet because it fits the narrative the person wants to believe.

In the UK anyone under their 18th birthday is a Juvenile. The police have certain laws and restrictions in place that governs what information they can share with the media etc. A judge can allow a juvenile to be named, as was the case with Venables and Thompson.

Children have been stabbing other children to death for decades in the UK, its just that this incident is more horrific and tragic than most, so many deaths, so young, not teenage boys in gangs stabbing each other to death. It was not like that before surely, so why have children been stabbing other children to death for the last two decades? I noticed they removed the sound track from Starmer being jeered and chased out of Southport!! Disinformation??
I saw that video, and I'm not a Starmer fan whatsoever so I've no reason to defend him, but the "hecklers" was in fact seemingly just one journalist doing that thing they do where they shout at MPs to try and bait out a response. Pretty disrespectful given the situation to be honest.

The arrested individual is 17 so the police can't identify him without some kind of special permission. Like with those two teens who murdered the trans girl.
The reason they can't release the name is due to the law.
It took about a year for the media to be legally permitted to reveal the name of Brianna Ghey's murderers because of their age.

Furthermore before writing a story is it not the norm for a journalist to approach the person to get their side, this avoids such sticky situations.

That news channel originates from Russia someone else has already confirmed it, they traced it back to a couple of Russian teenagers going back 12yrs ago when it was under a different name back then and used to upload videos of these teenagers messing about in fields driving old cars but since then changed the name.
