Omg! I totally forgot about the stretch needles!!! *runs to fabric store* glad I didn’t start working on my choli top and matching skirt yet! ;D i have a performance in November to get ready for. Yayyyy!
OMG this helps so much I have an urgent dress I need to finish by tomorrow for a cosplay I’m doing is my friends and this was such a lifesaver thank you so much
Good question! The best thing to do with sequin fabric is removing sequins from the seam allowance, then you can sew it like regular stretch fabric. Having said, I normally don't have the patience to remove sequins one by one for my projects! So the next best piece of advice would be, have a bunch of fresh needles ready and expect them to break as you sew. If I find better ways, I'll make a tutorial!
Hi I wanted to know do you always go by the exact measurement of the person or do you take away a few inches from the actual measurement itself since working with stretch fabric?
I'd try a regular presser foot first :) If the fabric sticks or doesn't move smoothly, you can try putting scotch tape under the presser foot. If that doesn't work, you could try a teflon foot or walking foot. :)
brilliant! will definitely try👍🏻👍🏻 can i ask about the foot and pressure on fabric? my sewing machine holds the fabric too tight i think and the material keeps getting folds under foot.. what is the right set up?

Hi! I dont have a fancy sewing machine, but I wonder about when you are sewing stretchy fabric, do you use just one needle or double needle (twin needle) and do you recommend it? Because I saw that when I sew a mermaid skirt, from one of your videos, the thread is showing, I mean between two panels the seam shows up. And should I just use regular straight seam when seeing stretch? Thank you for answering
Does your machine come with a guide? A good guide will tell you which seam and foot to use for different materials. Stretch fabrics should typically be sewn with a zigzag stitch. I was nervous about this at first because I was so used to using straight stitch on everything so practice on some scrap materials. The zigzag stitch works WAY better though! Another tip I saw was to use a walking foot.
Thanks! The handling tip is awesome!
