A full tutorial including attaching the lining would be wonderful! Especially what kind of interfacing to use! I know that different sections may need different kind of interfacing! So please, please do a video! ❤❤❤
A tutorial on lining or a sewalong would be very much appreciated! That green coat looks wonderful, and the pattern supposed to be outdated, but you made it look very fashionable. I really really want to make a coat, but still, it seems so difficult, I can't bring myself to try.
Gorgeous coat! A tutorial would be awesome. Have never made a coat as it seems so intimidating so video would definitely help. Thanks for a very informative video as always.
omg you look so classy in those pictures especially your matching hair colour with your shoes and in an contrast colour green and brownish orange. very beautiful.
Another important tip I learned the hard way is to buy quality fabrics! I used a very cheap polyester for my lining, and while it looks beautiful, it pills a lot, and is very static. My cheap wool also started to pill, and you can see the weave underneath. Lastly, there is this issue with cheap buttons that actually fell apart after a while. And my last tip is: do not be afraid of hand sewing. Use real silk twist buttonhole thread and make the buttonholes by hand, and sew in the buttons by hand.
Thanks for your coat tips. I started sewing a coat 12 years ago and lost confidence in completing it. Now I'm going to finish it with the very helpful tips you've provided. I'd very much like to see a coat tutorial if you make another coat. I love the lines of the green coat and it goes splendidly with your gorgeous red hair.
Yes, please do a coat video. Your timing is impeccable! I'm getting ready to make another coat as my old coat (made 35 years ago with Vogue pattern that costed $15 !!! I had to save for 2 months to buy supplies) is now threadbare. I didn't know what that meant until now.
My grandmother always used soap for marking. I would love to see a coat tutorial. I've been dreaming about making a proper, cream colored wool coat but it's so intimidating.
The coat looks stunning and green colour really suits you. I have just made a coat but need help with buttonholes. If you could help with tutorial on creating buttons holes in wool coats with lining that would be great. Thanks
Oh my goodness! I was going to stop the video in the middle and ask you to do a sew-along! Glad I waited until the end. YES!!! Please show me how to make a beautifully tailored coat. I also love the back princess seams. Things I have never done and want to learn include lining, coat, silky or satin fabric and princess seams.
Yes please. A coat tutorial would be great. Especially if you use a pattern we can use ourselves while following it. Your tips are very helpful. Thank you very much. I hadn't been aware of using soap before in that way, but i will definitely use it.
Your coat is beautifully made and it looks good on you. Yes, we would love for you to do a complete tutorial on the adjustment for “your size” and sewing techniques, especially for bust adjustments.
I would be very interested to see you do a coat making tutorial. I have purchased materials and patterns and have been continuing to research how to create lining and how or whether to interline for a warmer coat! I made a long coat a couple years ago that has dolman sleeves, but I interfaced the whole thing with fusible fleece, and it is extremely heavy 😮 Also, I am not happy with sleeve length having miscalculated and shortened them too much. I don’t wear the coat. Sad. I appreciate your skill and videos.
I wish I had seen this a week ago. Just finished a coat. It is an oversized one and mostly went well but I know I can do better. I was lucky my fabric is quite forgiving. Mastered welt pockets so pleased with that as it was a goal for 2024. A full tutorial would be great. 😊 Lynne
What a beautiful coat you show at the end of this video! Making a coat is one of my sewing goals. But I feel I am too new to sewing to give it a try. A full tutorial would be wonderful!
Love my Burda magazine collection! I’ve got more than 10 years of issues back to 2002. Another favorite pattern system is Lutterloh. Glad to see you keep your old issues, they are gold. The patterns repeat as fashion does.
Beautiful coat! I bought some older used Burda magazines, because I find the coats and jackets are much more to my taste. Right now there's a lot of oversized sacks, whereas I like them more tailored. I need some shaping in the outerwear and older Burdas have some gems.
I would definitely watch a coat tutorial. Your tips are very good. I think a new iron might be needed. Do you have advice about irons? I just subscribed so that I don't miss new episodes. Thank you.
Great! Thankyou. I have a special interest in coat making and have made coats in a variety of designs and fabrics, but several of these tips are new to me. Curiously, one of the hardest parts to get right is the hem corners at the front where the coat opens. A really smooth intersection between the hem piece (I always use a separate facing band) and the vertical front pieces can be a nightmare with some fabrics. Would love some discussion of this.
Sew along for the coat. I figured out the three lines of gathers for sleeves on my own. I use it for setting in all sleeves. Made a big difference and things come out nicely. I was saving up for a coat but found a coat that was in brand new condition at the thrift store for $14. To buy it would have cost me more than $500. I love the wool and that its about mid calf in length. Instead I spent the money on skirts and vests.
Vlieseline has special interfacing that might help with this - it’s called ‘Perfect hem’ and it helps create smooth, invisible hem. Gives very professional look👌
That coat is GORGEOUS! I've seen suggestions for a thread-chain to join the the sleeve lining armpit to the coat sleeve armpit, but I like the tape option! I'm part-way through making my second M6800 coat (waiting for the outer fabric, which is on back-order. Wool/cashmere/nylon classic coating, so worth waiting for). Meanwhile the lining is made (and doing any bias dropping), the flat-lining and interfacing is all cut out, the hem facing has been drafted, etc. etc. I've modified the coat to be ankle-length all round.
Thank you for the tips. I tried making my first coat a few months ago and let's just say I am thankful I didn't cut the very nice coat fabric I ordered to make it. :/
Perfect timing! I'm working on a house coat and will definitely use the dart interfacing and the lining tack! I don't have a clapper but I use my seam roll (sometimes called tailor's sausage) and it works pretty well.
Thank you for the wonderful tailoring suggetions. Tips on calculating more ease when adding batting for warmer layers would be helpful. How much "ease" should be added to the main fabric? Can you provide a sew along for the Burda coat pattern you sewed? Is that pattern still available? Thank you again.
A full tutorial including attaching the lining would be wonderful! Especially what kind of interfacing to use! I know that different sections may need different kind of interfacing! So please, please do a video! ❤❤❤
Yes, please to the above requests!!!!
Yes on the coat tutorial please 😊. It’s way out of my skill set, but I’m slowly increasing those skills.
A full tutorial with attaching the lining and batting would be wonderful.

Sometimes even a metal thimble doesn’t seem to be enough. This is when I use a hemostat to pull the needle through.

Coat tutorial please!!
I LOVE the color of the coat behind you, and I would love to *try* to make it!! What material did you use?
Really a beautiful pattern that green coat ❤ Thank you!
My worry on coat sewing is the Hem. I find it can be very lumpy. I hate that look. I believe you on the key is Pressing and interfacing.
Vlieseline has special interfacing that might help with this - it’s called ‘Perfect hem’ and it helps create smooth, invisible hem. Gives very professional look👌
Great job! Thankyou for sharing your tips. Please, a sew along would be very helpful. Thanks. I like your post/reel on IG.

Yes I would a coat tutorial
Years ago I was told to take your coat to the cleaners to be “pressed only” for the final look. What do you think. Enjoyed you video.
Love all of the linings. Where did you get those? Beautiful Green Coat!!!

Please please make a full tutorial including the lining and everything, I want to sew an A line coat but I don't know how to star
