Looks absolutely beautiful..... I'm an arizona guy but if I'm up that way I will definitely drop in...... thank you for the vid.... Rock on 4x4 brother's
This video has my thumbs up for the best Trails Offroad video yet! Amazing production, footage, editing and information. It makes me want to run this trail tomorrow! Thank you for sharing this. Great Job guys!!
Thanks for the kind words and for watching! We appreciate it! Pro tip - use our website when you are at home and use the app when you are out in the field with no service! You can download each state for offline use. More videos to come!
I used to frequent this trail with my grandfather in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s to bad they took half of it for houses, it used to end outside red feather lakes. It was never a big loop. Ted’s place used to be a really good restaurant until it burned down. Heart attack hill never used to be rutted out like that.
@@Trailsoffroad I’ll have to dig through my grandparents photos. As soon as I find them I’ll post them. My first trip on heart attack hill was in 1984 (4 years old), we came up the back side then went down in a 78 CJ-7. My grandfather told me my dad was scared to the point he was pale and I was in my car seat sitting center in the back seat laughing the whole way down. Good memories.
Love your videos and quality content and you have an app! Subbed and downloaded the app what a great channel. Sometimes the spotters should just let a guy drive seesh😂. Keep up the high quality content!
Thank you. And Thank you for watching. Our spotters are not like the other channels. We don't want the doom and gloom like most of the other channels, we want everyone to get through the trail safely and undamaged.
Great video! Although I have to say I did do the bypass with a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk with 1.5" lift on 31" K02's. Tons & I mean tons of skid plate & rock slider use, rock removed fender flare later we made it to the top. The last rocks was more difficult for the Renegade because of what it is. Got rid of that vehicle & now have a Gladiator after doing this trail.......
Just did this in an 88YJ with a 4.0 head swapped 4.2, 2.5 inch lift and 30 inch allterain's. Made it up most obstacles including the bypass and heart attack hill but passed on the chutes.
Enjoy exploring lesser known routes, but no interest in driving "challenging" 4x4 trails. When a trail gets technical, I park, then do some hiking by foot. Have viewed videos of Wranglers and others crashing head over heels down a hill, not my kind of fun. Do my best to keep my Wrangler Rubicon all 4 on the ground. Some pin striping is acceptable, but gouged, crushed or ripped off parts, no thank you. Hehe, in some 30 years of off-road exploring, only aired down once. Well, did tear open a sidewall, few years ago, my only flat, ever. Really glad I chose not to quit carrying a spare since I never needed it, before.
Great video guys. I did the hill in my Power Wagon on 37s one evening on my way to Walden. Was getting dusky and didn't have time in the daylight to check out the chutes. Going to go back in the spring. Have you ever seen or heard of any full size rigs successfully doing those chutes? From the video, looks maybe like short wheel base prolly better there...? Great video!
Hi Bob, thanks for watching! Power wagons are some of our favorite rigs. Not saying it cant be done, but it sure is narrow after the hardest part of the chutes (its a 2 part obstacle)! If you happen to feel like its in your cards, definitely take some pics! We would love to see it.
whos flying the drone towards the end down the forest trails? Or are you using the spot lock follow me features? Just curious how well that works through these trails. I'd love to hear how and what modes the drone shots are filmed with.
A good friend who is our dedicated licensed drone pilot took all the shots. The part through the tight trees he is flying a Skydio 2 in follow mode, the very end with the more overhead shots he is flying a Mavic Air 2S in full manual mode.
First portion of the video was mostly DJI Mavic 2 Pro, a little skydio for the meadows after heart attack hill and then following us through the tight trees, and then some DJI Mavic Air 2S nearing the end!
This trail can be done without lockers. The minimum tire we recommend are 33"+. Thanks for watching and leave a trail review on the website when you run it!
The MVUM says 5/15 every year, but that can change due to snowpack. This is the definitive list for when the USFS opens these trails. We update our data to reflect this list when it changes. www.fs.usda.gov/detail/arp/recreation/?cid=stelprdb5300963
@@Trailsoffroad what is your take on stock axles with 37s? I have a a rubicon and I’m a weekend warrior. I’ve heard mixed opinions on 37s with Dana 44s.
We haven't heard of anyone having issues running 37's on stock JL Rubicon axles. 2 of our writers (Tim and Josh) have been running 37's for quite some time on hard trails and they have no issues to report. So far...so good!
You dont need a Jeep at all! We just all have them and were so used to saying "Jeep" all the time haha. Any stock 4wd vehicle with a transfer case can make it up. Good tires are strongly recommended, 33's would be an ideal minimal size IMO.
Great question! It is named after the campground just below the trailhead, which is a nice, flat camping area along the banks of the Poudre River. Thanks for watching!
You all might want to watch other more experienced offroaders. Some of the worst lines chosen by both driver and spotter ive seen n a while. How on earth do you scrape your diff on a flat road with 1 rock. Just wow 😅
I love when you guys do these longer videos - such stunning footage mixed in with the trails. Thanks!
Thank you for watching
You guys are the best!!! Thank you for making all of these offroad trail videos!

Great choice! We have been loving our JL's. The renegades are tough little vehicles but nothing beats the wrangler/gladiator!
Back in 2012-2013 I did the chutes in a stock 2011 2dr wrangler on 33" Mud Grapplers....
nice

how did you bypass the chutes??
nice, do you have any photos?
Another great video, and for the 1st half of the video I swore the one Jeep was red and NOT orange :)

I did that in a 2008 pathfinder on 33". Prety easy
Very cool, if you haven't already, post up some of those pics on our website. You can find the link in the video description above
I am guessing there is another way around the shoots obstacle.
Yep, you just stay on the service road and it goes up and around. Check out the trail guide on our website if you need any more info!
@@Trailsoffroad thank you. Just moved to Denver. Lookn to explore. This trail looks awesome.
So if Tim didn’t get through that hard part how did you guys finish the trail?? Is there a second way around?
Head over to our trail guides for the answer to this question and a ton more. You can fine the link in the video description above.
Great video well done, except the tavern music. hehe
Yeah, it happens. Thank you for watching.
Am i correct in believing that the shoots are optional?
100% correct, they are completely optional.
Which drone were you using?

Can this trail be done without lockers, or split diff?
This trail can be done without lockers. The minimum tire we recommend are 33"+. Thanks for watching and leave a trail review on the website when you run it!
I did it on a 2000 ranger with 31” open diffs, Manuel trans, and no front sway bar i used some bypasses but it wasn’t too bad.
“I don’t need a spotter for the chutes, I do this all the time”
Fails….even with spotter
Mutters to himself….. “wish I had my Toyota”
Lol. Famous last words :)
when do they open for jeeps?

I think we are going to have 1 high five per video minimum going forward! lol
WHY is it named Kelly "Flats"??? This is the most un-flat thing I have ever seen. "Flat" would be appropriate for something here in Florida :)
