    I'm a truck driver. The usual route is AZ to NY, not afraid of long hrs/miles or weather conditions. I'm looking to change into expediting. Seems to me the same miles and sleep (or lack there of) pattern, but with a lot less stress. I'll watch more no sugar coding vids before making a decision. Thx for the info.

    I drove OTR, but came off the road because my kids were so young, they're 18 plus now. I'm quitting the construction business for good, can't make any money and its killing my body so i'm looking into this. I have a great driving record, no alcohol or drugs, i only sleep 4 to 5 hours a night and i love to travel. Looking at vans now and gathering info for this new journey. Thanks for the video.

      Exactly. If any driver crashes & dies because he/she was forced to sleep only 2 to 3 hrs, could the family sue that company? So, now drivers die and the company shrugs and say, "O'well, I guess he wasn't meant for this job. Now the owner needs new drivers?" Any company who values the package over the driver isn't worth the risk. It's against the law to make drivers sleep only 3 hrs. And, when a driver sleeps 6 hours, he's not worthy of a job? Talk about no sugar coating. Drowsy driving is against the law and sooo many things can go wrong resulting from unsafe driving. I could drive 10-14 hours but since my body needs 6-7 of sleep and time to feed my body to give my brain and heart energy to work another 14 hrs. Oh wait, are we expected to eat while we're driving too...I hope not. Even electric vehicles need maintenance and recharging. You could never tell a electric vehicle that takes 6-12 to fully charge and get 300-400 miles to hurry up and charge in 4 hours and get 800 miles. That electric vehicle will end up dead on the side of the road. Then why would anyone or any company force a human to do it?

      Amen brother. This business turned me to an old man real quick. In 7 years I aged about 15 yrs., hips hurt, back hurts, feet hurt. And lack of sleep definitely did it. You can't make your body sleep just because you need sleep and you haven't had sleep. Different sleep schedules everyday is the worst. Add and lack of exercise and a terrible diet on the road and you're asking for disaster. Nobody over 35 should be doing it.

    IMPOSSIBLE, IMPOSSIBLE, IMPOSSIBLE
    Did he honestly say 1500 miles and more? A day? That is Literally impossible?
    The average speed limit across the country is 65mph, if a person drove non stop for 24hrs which is literally impossible without fueling, without stopping for anything., Just constantly have his or her right foot on the gas pedal for 24hrs and diapers on his or her A$$, that individual will cover just a little over 1500 miles. After delivering whatever load. He or she would be in a Coma for at least 10hrs the next day.
    Honestly, tell all of us, watching your channel, how many realistic miles per week should they or we expect to drive? When they work for you or any other company that is out there, Cause when it comes to Physics and Reality. It really is IMPOSSIBLE.
    Physically, Mentally, Realistically 1500 miles ANDDDD more per day?, is literally impossible for any age person, unless they are snorting powerful stuff, A van that has a fuel tank that carries over 100 gallons of fuel, A seat that is designed to be a toilet and flush their waste all over the highway, it literally is impossible.
    SO please tell all of us!
    How many miles a week do you expect someone to Realistically drive?

    • @imyourhuckleberry4547
      @imyourhuckleberry4547 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's parts in Texas that are 80 mph for example and you can go a bit over the limit. I think when he said some of his guys do 1500 miles per day, he most likely meant they do that occasionally. If they're doing that every day then they will soon learn that's not smart.

    • @Eagle-Xpress
      @Eagle-Xpress  ปีที่แล้ว

      West coast and montana, UT, WY, and many many other states have a speed limit of 80mph for the most part. Usually at least 70 and you can always do 75mph and clear up to 1500 miles with fuel stops and quick bathroom break. If I can do it I know it can be done. But it's not for everyone and definitely not for weak drivers.

    Here is a recipe for disaster. Communication is number two on the list. Since this Eagle Express driver doesn't go east of Utah tells me a lot. My example, I have driven from Houston to San Francisco dead head to Los Angeles, and picked up for delivery to Chicago. You can't do it without sleep or else crash. Loads right now are slower than in the past but take care of yourself. How can you be just a west coast driver and be happy with loads? Mileage is a way to get paid and those rates should be paid within 24 hours. This is what I have been accustomed to. How can you maintain a vehicle at .85cent per mile, not sleep and crash? Never does he mention weight. So if the weight is at the upper limit of my vehicles payload limit, I will get more money or I won't load it. I have to replace the rubber, shocks, brakes, and fluids. Don't let anyone run your van down just to keep making them rockin' chair money. Respect the game and play by the established rules, not the shut up and drive mentality. Did I mention insurance $$$$? And I still haven't mentioned #1 on the list. So number 3 on the list is three-fold, trust/traveling/weather, yeah the weather moves and someone better be calling me because I have emailed my planned route into dispatch. Tornados at night in OK, KS, AR, TN.TX. AL are killers. Avoid them or crash. Ice Storms in OK leave carnage on ice packed highways. It"s not even black ice! It is not just on bridges, It is 55 miles of creeping if you're brave. So number one is SAFETY FIRST It will save you tush, out.

      Very true. It’s better to drive someone else’s vehicle and make 85 cents per mile with no expenses and get a 10 hour break every day instead of the insane 4 hours he’s suggesting. It’s proven that anything less than 5 will absolutely destroy your health, and 8 hours is what the body needs. No reason to cut years off your life driving 20 hours per day.

      Better to move for less than to lose money that day. Especially when fuel has come down so much lately. I'm sure we'll be back to 80 to 85 cents a mile soon and be grateful to move at those rates. And of course it's easier for those who have a paid off vehicle vs the ones with big note payments. But the strong will survive and weaker ones will quit. That's how it's been for the last 8 yrs.

      @@oceanbreeze9863 This guy is talking about "grateful to move freight at 80-85 cents a mile" 😆
      Diesel fuel right now is about .22 cents a mile in a van, insurance and maintenance adds *at least* another .11 cents a mile to that. A van note can add another .5 to .10 cents a mile.
      .85 - .33= .52 cent a mile.
      Add a note to that and it's somewhere between .42-.47 a mile or less.
      This guy is grateful to move freight for .50 cent or less a mile. Absolute insanity. Sounds like he's trying to rope suckers into taking dirt cheap freight for his company.
      You can literally make more money doing overtime and a crappy 9-5 and be home every night, than these guys do, living in their van otr. I would stay local and do courier work before I'm living in my van moving freight, thousands of miles a week for less than .50 cent a mile after expenses.

    Bottom line is cargo van expediting requires true grit to last. It’s a marathon, not a sprint (even in my black 2019 MB Sprinter 2500 high roof, extended length, single RWD.) Just started in 2022, after a ton of research, including Eagle Express videos and Everything Apax videos. Realistically, you need to have some money in the bank before getting started because, like any business, there are startup expenses. I also had a couple of interruptions: had to re-register the van in another state because Progressive stopped insuring commercial vehicles in certain states, then I needed my gallbladder removed October. So, because these interruptions and just getting started, I stay on the road for 6 to 8 weeks and home for one week. The longer you can run, the better the income. Heard about a guy that was with my carrier/dispatcher who ran for a few years, made serious income, and then retired. Probably single. My wife and I are empty nesters. Thank God for FaceTime and she stays plenty busy. Makes home time more special, too. Thank God I’m healthy enough to do this at 63+ years! Black Card Planet Fitness international membership helps with that. And provides thousands of places nationwide to get an occasional shower, too. Again, OTR expediting takes true grit or nothing 😁😎🫡

      Usually broker finds another vehicle things get recovered by someone else as no matter what happens freight needs to deliver on time. Nobody is going to wait for a repair. And driver gets charged accordingly to what the recovery vehicle charges for their services.

    I think this video is spot on for making money working with the company he mentioned.
    However, to make money in this business, you need money… regardless if you’re working for the company that he mentioned or if you plan on starting your own company.
    Money to purchase equipment: depending on what you plan on transporting, you need money to buy vehicles: cars, vans, trucks, etc.
    Money to cover operational expenses: gas, repairs, phone etc.
    Money to cover payroll: you def need a min of 3-4 drivers on your team to make money) need a small management team. if you think you’re going to make money solo, you’re basically burning your candle at both ends.
    There are a few other things that are required, but you easily figure that out once you have the above mapped out.

    • @sasquatchrosefarts
      @sasquatchrosefarts ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If you're solo, you get an mc number for $300. One time fee.
      Get a combined vehicle and commercial policy for insurance.
      And you run load board software on a phone or laptop.
      Pick good loads, and don't be afraid of taking a day off and resting if rates are crap.
      You can make great money.
      If you work for someone else, they don't calculate your fatigue and rest. If they only make moderate money, they send you on a load even if you are tired.

It's also over saturated with way too many drivers that causes the rates to be low plus rates are down as is already. If you really want to get on the road that bad you can but don't tell us that we didn't warn you that it's not the best time for it when you end up sitting around waiting for freight. As far as sleep. If i can get one day off a week. Rest and sleep. If i can sleep at less 4 to 5 hours within a 24 hours. Then i can do this. I do have a CDL-A. But i would like to do this. The only 2 states i do not want to do is California or North York. I am ok with the other states. So far i drove on the northeast starts. Start from Texas. I am in TX.

      Right now pickers and choosers end up sitting around more and don't average good pay at the end of the week. Gotta go everywhere all over 48 states to make that bread. Otherwise be prepared to do more sitting waiting for a load than driving. That's how things are right now. Same issue every winter holiday season. And current bad load market makes it even worse. Not the best time to get into the business right now. Unless ur dept free and won't have bills besides insurance and fuel.

    I move pianos in Los Angeles, I have two econolines and two enclosed trailers that I pull. 14 by 7 ft trailers. Is there something that I can get into with a trailer? I figure I can keep the second band busy by doing this. I'm just looking for more work. What do you think is it possible with the equipment that I already have

    • @Eagle-Xpress
      @Eagle-Xpress  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We only work with high roof extended sprinter style vans. There's an industry standard. If you hook up a trailer to a van you will be over 10k gvw and will require to have log books and be dot compliant.

    i am an owner driver, i would leave europe to work with him. Buy a brand new van Do 5 6 years worth of expediting travel the US. and come back it would be a good experience. I do this in europe. And i love my job man, i just do. I just love being out on the road listening to music and chatting with friends on the phone. I just love busting ass, it makes me happy. Chasing late invoices and negotiating with some shippers is the bit i dont like. I can put on more miles then anyone. I remember once ( i will never do this again) I did a 72 hour stint with like 4 hours sleep. I was hallucinating never again. Exept with him it looks like he will do everything for me.... Lovely. Just drive even better, no need to book loads GREAT. Im prepared to hit the road 3 4 months at time basically live in the van and work 7 days a week. I just need 1 week of a year, and sometimes the morning off for the oild change or whatever. Wash the clothes when there is no load available, clean the van when there is no load available. My hole life is set up to put as many miles as possible. I LOVE EXPEDITING.

    I was wondering why someone who was just starting out would choose the expediting business over a CDL career when the commercial drivers make at least as much and have more sane schedules. I think they are restricted to 10 hours per day of driving. Of course there is the initial expanse of the CDL but is there something else I am missing? Thanks for your time!

    • @JJDrives
      @JJDrives ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I used to drive CDL. DOT is a headache. Driving these vans is so easy that it's really not work. For me it's more work managing the sleep schedule. I've never really slept well anyway so it works in my favor. It's basically rotating shifts. In CDL you might spend 8 hrs waiting to be loaded. The Hours of Service laws are really obnoxious. With my sprinter I can whip into anywhere a large pickup can go and take a nap if time permits. The huge upside to all this? I took all of November off to get some projects done at home. Why? Cause I can. Anytime I want with good budgeting. The flexibility and freedom is great.

      Eagle Express is a scam. They will not tell you what they charge for dispatching fees. "a secret" He sounds like an asshole on the video and really is one in life. This is how he responded to my question about how much you charge for finding loads.
      We don't charge % we just add on top of drivers rate !!!!!!!!!!! This means a scam!! This is how he replies avoiding telling you the truth! His company takes a percentage of the gross pay. And they will not tell you what it is. This is one of the most dishonest people in this industry. That is why he can't keep his drivers. He takes too much of a big percentage from the gross pay. That is why he does not want to disclose it. Spread the truth so he does not keep victimizing cargo van drivers. 100 percent of all dispatching companies work on percentage. He is a liar in disguise
      Russians-owned companies don't trust these people. Their website is not public either. I was stationed in Russia many decades ago when I was in the military. Locals were always weary of being scammed by employers. It is the culture there

    • @Eagle-Xpress
      @Eagle-Xpress  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      In expediting theres no round trip loads unless ur in an area that's a dead zone for loads then brokers and their customers will pay the round trip as they know there's no other freight and that's the only choice they have. If you live in Chicago then no there's no round trip pay as there's freight everywhere out there and they just pay one way like everyone else. Only dead zones can potentially pay deadhead miles.
