That bus at Scissors Crossing only goes to up to Julian and on to the El Cajon Transit Center in El Cajon, CA once on Fridays. The 891 bus leaves the Shelter Valley resort at 8:15 AM on Friday. That's it! Not very helpful. Agave at 1:11 is Agave deserti. The Scissors Crossing area used to be green grazing land, but it's really becoming a lot more arid. Still you have to go to the other side or the mountains to the east, or a ways to the south before you really get into full desert habitat. Plant at 1:15 in Ocotillo. Plant at 1:40 is Desert Apricot. Cacti at the water source are Silver (or Golden) Cholla. Plant at 2:42 and at 4:39 is Laurel Sumac, telling you you're fully back in the chaparral. 4:45 is a Bush Poppy. The oaks at 7:42 are Coast Live Oak. 8:12 is a California Poppy, the state flower. (The Gorn was farther up the trail at Vasquez Rocks near Agua Dulce.) The trail you turned on to Warner Springs is the California Riding and Hiking Trail (created 1945). 13:02 is Toyon, used for Christmas decorations in SoCal. I'm surprised it still has fruit. 13:05 is Chaparral Yucca. The trail to the spring (14:09) is also the California Riding and Hiking Trail, it continues north right to the Paradise Valley Cafe. Lots of shots of Chamise (15:42) as it is the primary type plant of the chaparral habitat. The plant behind you at 19:34 is Sugar Bush. Yuccas at camp and 22:10 are Mojave Yucca.

      Dude, thank you so much.
I really thought the Gorn scene was here. Several ppl have corrected me, I can't wait to get to Vasquez rocks, Blazing Saddles also shot scenes there.
That was the most informative comment I've gotten so far.
Please do the same on future videos.

@@OlaRiley-ir1fx Unfortunately, the ones at the very end are non-native (and invasive) African Daisies planted by CalTrans. I did the ID for the flowers in that episode.

Thank you. I get mixed opinions on the background music. My compromise is to use it, but keep the volume down. That way it isn't just silence during the many pictures I like to take.

Good stuff, enjoying your adventure. Advice I give every year, when you pan with your cam, go half as fast as you are, to us it just looks like a blur if you pan too fast.

I'm not sure how much they got just north of me. I hopped off at hwy 58 this morning. I didn't have any snow accumulated on my tent last night, but I saw snow on higher areas.
I haven't heard from other hikers yet.

A little. When I was on this part in 2017, I was just learning. This time, I'm a little earlier in the season. There's trail closures ahead. In 2017 I would have found more experienced hikers and just followed them.

Hey Buddy! What day did you hit Barrel Springs? Did you look inside that cooler with the rock on top of it? I did some trail magic there and left the cooler with fruit in it. Great to see you all stayed another day. I skipped the 24+ mile section from Mike's Place to PVC on Sunday morning. Instead opting to hike from the Hwy 74 (PVC) up to about 6,800 feet to the Cedar Springs Trail. 10.7 miles, Then hike out about 2.74 miles to my car which I staged earlier in the morning. It was wet, cold and windy all day. It think it was in the 20's with 40 mph winds above 5,500 feet. And snowing!

Is it possible to buy a can of propane in Warner Springs? I suppose you are not allowed to have it send to the post office, am I right?

    • @callofadventure6733
      @callofadventure6733  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I think you can send it by ground to the post office, but it takes longer.
I don't remember seeing it at the gas station next to the post office, but I wasn't looking. I wouldn't surprise me if they had it as they were very aware of hikers (the clerk checked a log book and told me they saw 45 hikers before me this year).
I'm still using the tiny can I bought at Campo. I bought another in Julian, but haven't needed it yet.
There was a can in the hiker box at Silver Pines in Idyllwild that was heavier than the one I'm using now.
Soil you don't have time to mail one there, I'm sure you could pick one up beforehand.
      Sorry, did that help?

Yeah, I got confused. I still need to go back and do a pic for Vasquez Rocks.
Then I might stick a gorn into a pic every now and then so it looks like it was on purpose. 😀
