    Great refresher course for the coming season JW. I’m in Michigan and my lake is frozen and I’m losing my mind so I’m just watching videos getting ready for ice out ( quite a way off unfortunately). Wish I could take a couple vacation days and head south for a long weekend and do some fishing, but got to pay those bills ☹️. So for now, I will just keep watching other people fish. Lol

    Be curious, be quick, and never settle in, move like a fish and catch more, good concept. As for the tackle part, it's cheap buy in abundance, can't buy stuff when your on the lake.

    Better than just warning you to not fish memories. An actual explanation of what to do and sometimes when, but still letting you know that everything is based on conditions.

    Good video man! Always smart to go back to basics. I fish 3 times per week for years now, and I still make the mistake of fishing the same spots over and over. Fishing history. I always have to remind myself to move around and think about the seasonal patterns. 👍🏻

    Amazing tips for beginners, not like every other video you see and as a testament to these tips, especially with # test on line (I started fishing about a year and a half ago)... I caught a "smaller" alligator on 17lb mono that bit a frog. This was when I started looking into how low you can drop your test and still be effective.

    Good tips ill add one,a guy i fish with will think that because he caught fish on a certain bait yesterday that they'll bite it today.he'll throw that bait and not get a bite and think the fishing is bad.Bass can be picky and unpredictable about what they'll bite.so go to something else if what you used yesterday aint working.

    Do you think floro should be changed out more often than mono for recreational anglers since it doesn't have as much elasticity. Seems like floro doesn't return as much to its original state after being stretched and gets brittle.

      I'm not J.W., but yes, change fluorocarbon alot more often, I keep white masking tape with me, for the 2 rods I use most during fishing, (to mark the rods), and change every 1-3 trips, if I used them alot. But, thats me.🖒.

      @@mitchalgreen7244 that's why I dont use floro anymore. Gets expensive to change out. I can get a lot more mileage out of my P-Line CXX. I've lost too many big fish with floro. If I was sponsored and got it free then I might use it. The pros change line very often.

    • @mitchalgreen7244
      @mitchalgreen7244 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesbarron1202 ...... I don't fill my spools up with it. I use Berkley big game clear 25lb as a mainline, 17lb Berkley trilene 100% fluorocarbon as a leader for flipping, a 200 yd spool lasts me all year. And braid with a leader at times. Adjust your poundage for finesse and water clarity and cranking. 🖒.

    I think my issue is number 5 . I will rig up 10 combos the night before and won't fish a particular bait long enough to put something together. This year i am going to try and rig up a handful and focus on the differnt water columns and then adjust from there. This is a great vid. I think everyone is guilty of at least one of these now again .

    I think you should make a video or a series of videos about fish movement throughout the seasonal patterns. Even break the spring time up into three categories pre-Spawn, spawn and post Spawn. I think that would help out a lot of your beginner, intermediate, and with your knowledge probably even some of your advanced anglers who watch your channel

    Hey Jacob got a question when fishing muddy or dark water you hear some people say use bright colored lures then you hear people saying use dark colored lures for contrast. Out of the two which would be better. Where I am we don't really have muddy water the ponds and lakes are either clear or dark water.

      Thx Jacob. Good tips for a wide spectrum of fisherman. I would also say not to keep going to the same body of water. Go try other types of water like reservoirs, rivers instead of the same lake. You'll be surprised on what you may find. Leads you to fishing other structure types too.

    What about extremely high barometric pressure days with cloudless sky's and the fish are just lock jawed , how are supposed to decide what to throw, when you've junk fished most of the day and haven't set the hook yet.

    Great advice Jacob! Guilty as charged on virtually all of what you talked about. There's one like that I go to in the summer that I always go to the far end and fish in the salad. I throw the same thing all the time into that thing and sometimes I'm taking fish one after the other other times nothing but I keep throwing the damn white paddle tail! It's always been my go-to bait. My fishing buddy Shawn always laughs at me for doing that and says if they're not fighting switch it up and I keep fishing the white paddle tail because the white paddle tail works for me except that it wasn't working that time! Great stuff I have stories for all of the five issues you talked about but I'll leave you with that one story. Thanks again great video!
