As an ex VAA employee, it brings a tear to my eye seeing this. Sat in those Upper Class seats on this aircraft (G-VROY) on numerous occasions, whisking me off to LAS, MCO, HAV, BGI and other Caribbean islands. Thanks for the memories
I was chief purser on the 747 from 1989 until 2018 when they retired. There will never be another plane as grand and comfortable as the 747. This tour was a walk down memory lane. Thank you.

Urhh hate to put a downer on that but I don’t think you sat in 1A or 1B unless you have a virgin gold card ? Do you? If you do fair enough! It’s very cool I’ve been up there a few times!!

And these 3 airlines you said had 1 or 2 747s preserved as the Concordes i would even put a Virgin Atlantic 747 next to British Airways Concorde at Heathrow
I remember as a young boy being totally mesmerized by the 747. We were planning a trip from Toronto to London or Manchester. My Dad knew I loved this plane so we went to the airport and walked up to our gate and what did I see? A Beautiful Air Canada 747. I said are we going on that? My Dad said yes he wanted to surprise me. I was so excited to have the opportunity to fly on this beautiful bird. If my memory is right we were diverted to Liverpool for weather I think. Liverpool was a small airport at that time and the landing was a little rough. We had to sit on the plane for a long time while they figured out how to get us off this large plane. It also took a long time for them to get the luggage off the plane. I don't think Liverpool had a 747 land there very often if ever. This would have been back in the 70's. Now my Dad and this beautiful plane are gone but the memories will always live. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.
Thank you The Points Guy UK! Was emotional This 747, G-VROY (Pretty Woman) was truly special for me. It was the last Virgin Atlantic aircraft and 747 overall I've seen in person up close when it came to Montego Bay, Jamaica 🇯🇲 with Prince Harry onboard back in 2017. Funny didn't knew he was onboard till I got home and hearing it on the news. Sad to see her go!! Truly special indeed!
I come back to this video all the time. The nostalgia makes my heart hurt because I’ll never fly on a VA 747 again. I love Virgin Atlantic and my very last flight was on Pretty Woman Nov 2019 in Upper Class (thanks to Nicky’s influence) I can’t wait to see what comes next for VA.

Thinking back on my flights on the 747 over the years, my two favorite seats were the nose in First or the upper deck in Business Class. So glad I was able to fly many times on this iconic aircraft.
So no one is allowed to use the elevator, but what happens to the items when they reach the lower deck? Is someone there to take receipt of them or is there an automated process that takes place? Perhaps I missed this part of the video, so some clarification would be welcome.
@Nick Nick I mean, the reason I'm so sure of it is that even here in Italy just a mere 3 months after the peak of first wave (which scared everyone shitless) you had lots of people going around for vacations. I personally know more than one who traveled around Europe regardless of coronavirus. *The first day* that the lockdown severity was reduced me and some friends had dinner reserved at one of our favorite restaurants and the place was full (as full as the regulations allowed at least). People just want this shitshow to be over and forgotten.
Love the 747. Booked flights with BA specifically to get on one in 2017 and managed to back a top deck seat too! So glad I did. Only 20 or so seats up there with 2 flight attendants. With BA's business class seat the window seat basically felt like your own little cabin!
So sad seeing these plane go! I flew on her 3 times in my life! I flew on her in June/July 2019 (ATL-MAN/MAN-ATL) in seat 54K and again the first time in the early 2010s from JFK. I think I was sitting somewhere between seats 26-37.
I'm an MD 11 pilot and inspector. When taxing out for takeoff, seeing the B744, I'm always in awe. Beautiful machine and very sad they're leaving the skies. Still a lot of life left in those birds.
We flew back from Orlando in that very aircraft. We sat in the back row seats in the bubble upstairs. I was actually coming down with flu (not a cold - proper flu) so remember feeling unwell as the flight went on. However, flying there and back on a 747 was a great experience and we are so pleased we got to do it.
The shot standing in the engine. Unthinkable !!! It looks like the only current owners of the 747 are cargo operations. I can’t believe it has been 50 years. This will be in your memory forever.
Flew Pretty Woman in 2019 - MCO-MAN Seat 21A - and loved the experience. Glad I got the chance before they left VA's fleet - nothing will replace them...
I went to this experience and it was honestly the best thing I’ve ever done. Feels very sad being on this aircraft for the very last time but I would definitely do something like this again
Last time I flew internationally to London, the outbound flight was on Pretty Woman, departing Orlando 23 December 2016 for a red-eye to Gatwick, returning on Hot Lips 7 January. One memory I have was back in 1999 when my brother and I were travelling as unaccompanied minors out of Miami. Towards the end of the flight, they moved us up to the first class section in the nose (this was before the fancy lie-down seats and such). Sure the A380 is bigger, but the 747 is much more iconic
Sure do miss the Queen. Last time i flew her was back in January 2019 with BA from Cape Town all the way to Los Angeles via LHR. Sat in the tail in Economy and I'll definitely say : despite it being a very very long journey, flying for 24 hours on the 747 was something to remember
Back in 2019 I flew to Las Vegas on a BA 777 and just as we taxied off the runway in LAS, a virgin 747 that had followed us the whole way from LGW did a nice smoky landing right outside my window. It was an impressive sight.
1:47-1:50 When the Flight Attendant mentioned that someone was decapitated in one of the elevators (lift) I read where a Flight Attendant with World Airways that this happened to (On a DC-10 I think in the 70s)
Old man Boeing did us proud with this bird, especially regarding the amount of redundancy built in to the 747. He'll be turning in his grave now knowing what the company has become, especially with the Max.
Boeing retired is as soon as the 777 took off. They saw the writing on the wall for 4 engined behemoths. I was lucky to fly a 744 on Qantas nearly 20 years ago and it was a pretty amazing experience.
I have always loved the iconic look of this planes but sadly never been on one! Hope to go travelling this year for the first time since 2016! Really looking forward to it but wish it was on a 747 as that would be amazing!
A few years ago I had the pleasure of flying on a virgin Boeing 747 from london to Jamaica and even tho the economy seat was very bad with terrible food and ife I still enjoyed the flight due to the plane
A rare seat booking regret was flying the 747 on Business but choosing upstairs because I thought being upstairs on a plane (and backwards) was cooler. Should have done the nose

My favourite plane of all time, Pretty Woman, took us to florida twice - couldnt they have just kept this one flying at a premium for passengers or on display somewhere?
You guys should try fly with Malaysia Airlines... It really gonna be so fun.. their crew are so friendly and beautiful.... Go try fly to London 🔄 Kuala Lumpur..
Question I would’ve asked the chief operating officer is why not Concorde And why not the airbus A380 As Virgin Atlantic was linked to Have these aircraft at some point.
We've flown twice on pretty woman to Florida, sadly missed, thank you lovely lady.
I’ve been on it once
Enough luck for my lifetime 😂

So jealous of Nicky because he has recorded evidence of something I’ve wanted to do for years. But he’s compensated enough for both of us 😂

The 747 was the first plane I flew international to the U.K from Australia when I was a teenager. So many years, so much fond memories.
Aww thats so nice of u to share this mam .
Same in 1995 with Qantas from Manchester via Heathrow to Oz
I cant wait to fly again its been so long because of covid 😭
I hear you

Dammit, the corona really messed up the aviation industry so hard
Basically 9/11 multiplied by 1000
It’ll never ever recover
To be fair the 747's days in commercial flying were numbered anyway! 2 engines are now king, sad though as imo its the most beautiful plane ever built
@Nick Nick Nothing of the sort will happen. Give it 3 years and tourism will go back to the way it was.

I feel so happy that I had the opportunity to fly on the Queen twice in my life. One of them was almost as old as I was then (27).
I flew pretty woman back in 2015 from Manchester to Orlando. Can’t believe it’s gone already
I have yet had a chance to fly aboard a B747. I am hoping Lufthansa will keep their 747-8 long enough for me to fly on one before they all retire.

I travelled in ‘Ruby Tuesday’, to Vegas. You don’t realise how many seats they can hold. Then you try to sleep and realise there’s way too many 💺😆
I wonder what planes the pilots will fly now... or retire. Its a shame. Great aircraft.
A rare seat booking regret was flying the 747 on Business but choosing upstairs because I thought being upstairs on a plane (and backwards) was cooler.
