    During the last song, shut your eyes and you will visualize The Four Freshmen.

      I actually like this version as much or even a little better than the FF version.

    5:30. Mike Love introducing the group. "This is Brian Wilson. He writes all the songs and arranges them."
    Kind of contradicts his own lawsuit,, eh?

      Mike Love is even more despised than Glenn Frey and Henley lol..just ask anyone who ever had a conversation with Mike Love. A true legend in his own mind and author of ALL The Beach Boys hits.

      Say what you want about Mike Love but even Brian Wilson admits Mike wrote lyrics for several songs. He should get credited

    • @whiteandright1958
      @whiteandright1958 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VirreFriberg Mike Love WAS originally credited for co-songwriting credits for the following songs:
      Surfin
      Surfin Safari
      Shut down
      Catch a Wave
      Little Duece Coupe
      Fun. Fun, Fun
      Little Honda
      Little Saint Nick
      Kiss Me Baby
      Please let Me Wonder
      So don't say Murry or Brian didn't acknowledge Mike's contributions, limited as they were.
      What is in dispute is Mike's claims he wrote some songs by himself and others where he wrote 100 percent of the lyrics.
      He didn't.
      His own words on stage contradict his claims.
      Tony Asher said it was ridiculous.
      Chuck Negron, Corey Wells, Steve Desper, Danny Hutton and Brian all claimed Brian wrote Darlin' by himself for Redwood, the forerunner of 3 Dog Night. Mike said he wrote that song.
      Mike initially sued for writing credits on 76 songs, then caved and negotiated down to 35 songs. How does one do THAT if they are standby adamant about what they wrote?

      The motorcycle song is actually called "Little Honda", the reason they substitute cycle for Honda is because if they sang Honda, they would have to pay a fee, because Honda is a registered trademark.....

      I wish they'd done an "Unplugged" show. The last song "Their Hearts Were Filled With Spring" was just sublime. They sound like Choirboys (but didn't act like them!)

      It sounded like they were using the backing track to little honda for most of the song, then just transitioned it to the live band in the final chorus, bc you can here the tv studio horns as well

      They were definitely more than capable musicians, and to be fair, Brian still used them a lot. Especially the post-Pet Sounds era up to Holland. Often times, Brian and the band would use a mix of the band and professional studio musicians. Even while Brian was at his most prolific with the Wrecking Crew professional musicians, he would still mix in Carl or Dennis. Carl played guitar several times on Pet Sounds and Good Vibrations. Brian simply used the Wrecking Crew at the peak of his prolific producer period because he was trying to get the highest tier of sound possible. Pet Sounds would probably still be amazing to our ears if Brian leaned on his own band equally to the professional studio musicians, but Brian had that special ear and he wanted that totally infallible performance. Musicians that required as little coaching as possible.

    • @figmo397
      @figmo397 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I can tell, yes. The endings didn't match the records on the first two, and it would've been harder to lip synch the last number than to just sing it.

    • @Bob.Silverstein
      @Bob.Silverstein 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As a musician who has played in bands I don't think there's any way those vocals are live. The singers are nowhere near the mic. I actually haven't found a video of a beach boys concert yet that has been convincingly live...

    • @TheHeater90
      @TheHeater90 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Bob.Silverstein The "lost" concert and their performance in The T.A.M.I. Show, both from 1964, are totally live performances. Also, in those days, they did not use stage monitors, so they were able to turn the gain up on the mic and stand farther away without getting feedback. I don't know if the last number is actually live or not(based on how studio perfect it sounds) but it's totally conceivable and possible, with no stage monitors, to stand that far away from a mic and get a loud enough vocal if you position yourself right and project correctly. The first two numbers are live though, as the vocals do not match the records at all, and their are little flaws here and there that are totally understandable live, that wouldn't have been kept in a finished pre-recorded track.
