They made Buggy more competent. Chop-Chop is a pretty strong Devil fruit but Buggy sucks with it's mastery as he never wanted to eat it. In the anime, Buggy Stabs Zoro in the back on the 1 v 1 because Buggy was more of a trickster that won by tricking their opponents in victory.
He is stronger since blunt force trama should work on him no problem but doesn’t appear to here. On the other hand we are giving credit because he managed to put up a decent fight. None of the straw hats are hurt in any meaningful way here so the spirit of buggy not being particular strong still stands. Was a cool fight but I wish nami was the one to bring up the crates since in the anime, it was her showcasing her thief skills to tie him up without him noticing

Jeff Ward is such an underrated actor. Those of us who watched the entirety of Agents of Shield, knew from how great he was as Deke. When I saw he got casted as Buggy, my hype skyrocketed and he truly delivered!
It took me until they arrived at Arlong Park to realise he was Deke. The voice sounded familiar, but I only made the connection at the last minute. I hope after escaping Impel Down, Buggy celebrates by hugging a tree.

I don't think I'd be watching every new movie and series coming out if AoS didn't get me so invested in that world back in the day. The scope of the series really allowed it to do the kind of character work that you don't really get in other parts of the MCU. I cared way more about Caulson and Daisy's paternal dynamic than I did for Tony and Peter's. Heck, I even care more about Daisy's relationship with her actual father than I do with Tony and Peter's. I even care more about Grant Ward in general, than I care about 95% of characters in the MCU. And I am the kind of person who watches every new MCU project, and I don't go complaining about social media that not everything is Infinity War-level good. But even I can tell that AoS just allowed the viewer to develop a way more intimate connection with its characters, and it was all the better for it.
Love the way that Luffy’s arms/hands twitch when he’s stretching as a sign of strain. That and the subtle sound of rubber/stretch whenever he uses his abilities. Bravo to the team!

they got rid of one of Buggy's weaknesses. In the anime and manga, Buggy's feet needed to remain on the ground for him to use his powers. They way the chop-chop fruit worked was, think of an invisible bubble with Buggy's feet at its center. His parts can move anywhere within the bubble so long as both his feet remained on the ground and in the center of the bubble. As shown in the Impel Down ark when Buggy's feet are dropped down a hole, the rest of his body was pulled down with them like nails being pulled into a magnet.
It could just be that the actual range hasn’t been specified yet, because it’s shown his body still lives at Arlington park whilst his head is at the barratie, plus it could be he was balancing on one foot, we don’t necessarily see both feet off the ground at the same time

The only scene I cried at was the Nami stabbing scene and that was primarily because I was remembering the anime one as well. The live action was close, but missed the mark on emotion.

theres a lot of things in the adaptation i like and theres also things i cant take seriously… but the performance of the Buggy actor is spot on and the laugh is exactly like in japanese version
A detail I love about this is it really helps show the potential of Buggys fruit, if he trully mastered it combined with good enough observation haki he could be the next Katakuri, especially because he has the advantage of being able to leave parts of his body literally somewhere else, can't shoot him in the heart if he leaves that section somewhere safe.
If people think Buggy is too strong.. read the manga. Luffy made light work of Alvida, Richie and Axehand Morgan. Yet Buggy made him bled and is dodging his pistols.. even his move where he rushes him. And Buggy only loses since he was focus on catching Nami. Also Buggy technically defeated Zoro He is actually strong as he is stronger than his crewmates.. the same acrobat crewmate who lifted the lion to block the cannon and that same lion who destroys the steel cage.
I think people overstate how weak Buggy is just because he's so rapidly outmatched by everyone who comes after him, but he's really not THAT bad. He's got a great devil fruit and pulled off some pretty impressive feats in Impel Down.
I know some people complain about the Cgi, but the way they do it is so satisfying to me. Plus, thats next to the amazing characters, acting and soundtrack. I have no clue how they pulled off this much quality but I hope to see more of it soon!
Now you combine this power with full body armament haki and you can turn yourself into a cluster missile launcher. This is a fruit that would be handy to have in a fight.

For the people finding this adaptation bad or sub-par, keep in mind it’s adapting an anime/ manga about pirates with powers that live in a fantasy world filled with creatures like a talking reindeer. I think this show is amazing in how it achieves adapting that alone, but of course it’s gonna be cringey at times. Not every show out there has to be this gritty, serious tale. Not saying anybody has to love or even like it, just wanted to clarify exactly what this team is adapting.
