    No matter how many of these Gibson Factory tours I watch (and I’ve seen quite a few), it always amazes me that the three Gibsons staring at me from across the room started life right there. I’ll probably never make it to Nashville, but they were there and made it to me!

    I've got two Les Paul Standard 60's, and as a players guitar, they're every bit as good as a custom shop. I have a R9, and sure, it looks more vintage, but the guitar I reach for day to day is my USA. Awesome guitars.

      Spot on Rod. 2013 Traditional here, I can't really imagine how much more of a Les Paul it can really be from a feel- performance - function standpoint -outside of attaining that perfect 50s sunburst finish and vintage patina.

    When they were talking about the final, quality control, inspection, I wanted to scream. A few months ago, I bought my 2nd LP. It is a lefthanded, LP Tribute. I love absolutely love the guitar, but it needed some pretty major work to become the player that it now is. Sure enough, in the case, there was a picture of the guitar on the work bench..along with the inspection check list.....which said that it passed its inspection. However, there were issues and the inspection obviously hadn't been thoroughly done. What was the biggest issue, you might ask? I'll tell you....the freaking nut was barely cut. It was almost like there someon tried to cut it with dental floss and gave up. The strings were resting on top of the nut..and it almost looked like they put a right handed nut on it..but gave up part way through cutting it. Regardless, I love the guitar...but I had to put a few hours of work into it. Gibson..I want a present!

    • @michaelsnydermusic
      @michaelsnydermusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m glad you brought this up here so they can read it. The quality of these instruments has just suffered so much in the last few years. My Les Paul Studio (2017) had 2 fret endings that cut me and I considered myself lucky after researching what’s been happening with Gibson.
      In the last couple years of going to my local Guitar Center I’ve run into major problems with their Gibsons. One SG had a screw sticking out of the strap lock hole which was broken. An Explorer a busted pick up selector. The clerk said they came that way and shame on Guitar Center for keeping them on the floor at full price.

    I visited this factory in 2011 and 2014 and it was pretty cool to see what goes on. I was lucky enough to buy a white explorer from the training room upstairs on my first trip. I remember begging to have them let me toss one in the wood chipper and we also learned to scrape binding. My second trip was to learn about the Firebird X but that didn't go over so well lol

    Show this video to the guy that says that Gibson is just a name. I own many guitars before Gibson when finally i could afford to get my first Les Paul, i understood why the Guitar worth that price, is not even about sound, its about the feel when you get one in your hands is just amazing, for sure many brands are great too, but Gibson deserves its status and leadership.

    I don't feel it should be neccessary to take a chisel to the tenon to make it fit the body, it's CNC'd after all, or is it? At the very least it should be way less than 1mm of material needed to be removed, not the big hunk of wood we see here 4:04.
    I've also seen a side view of the inside of a Les Paul, it shows the neck tenon having a bow so it doesn't make contact at the front and back on the bottom, if both the tenon and pocket are CNC'd why so much adjustment?
