I disagree, you love your parents for whoever they are and you will do anything to be with them. His father didn't do him a favour, he broke the man by taking him away from his family and leaving him with abandoment /rejection issues he'll have to deal with for the rest of his life. This is deeper than the cult, it's about family.

This is absolutely heart breaking. They don't give these poor children a chance inside or outside to become anything other than afraid, abusive themselves or awkward. But by God's grace, many get out and amazingly go on to live good lives. Praying for all of them and for all those still stuck in this cult. That's all it is.

If we didn't forfeight our childhood weekends we couldn't ever be forgiven.
