What was your favorite tip?
I liked the tip, “Start with the big things, first.”
Everything is great, but I adore the goodie box idea! One of my favorite gifts as a child was something similar, and I felt so special and seen by the gifter. It really nurtured my creativity. Your granddaughter is very blessed to have you!❤
@Mdab5615 yours is one of the sweetest comments ever. ❤️ you made my day! Thank you!
no 6 - Ive got 40+ yrs of gathered supplies and yes I dont use some of it so VERY soon, because Im down sizing it will be sorted!!! 🦘
Good luck on your journey!
My DIL called me a hoarder!!!’ I told her I took offense at that. She thought a minute and replied “You are a hoarder of craft crap”. Fair enough- I’ll own that 😊
🤣🤣 so many of us can relate!
OMG.. I remember when I was a kid my Aunt would make me a craft box every year for Christmas from her spare stuff. I loved it so much! That’s so nice of you!
Oh wow! That’s awesome!! I love when forgotten memories sneak in and catch us off guard! ❤️
❤❤❤❤ Oh I love this idea xx
All the tips are great reminders but my favorite is the give-away goodies craft boxes. I’m a hoarder in part because I ‘see’ the value in all the crap I bought/saved/inherited. I think I can let it go to delight someone else.
I haven’t been able to put my feelings into words, but you did it! Thank you!
That’s how I was feeling. OVERWHELMED!!! Now I know to set a timer and don’t be afraid to get rid of bits of paper. Thank you xx❤
Thank you! You’ve got this! 💕
Someone was giving me ADHD advice and said countdown timers were more effective than a set alarm for a specific time because you can see the time left and you can't just forget that you set the alarm. It makes me be a little more conscious of the time I have left to do things before I leave for work.
Great idea! I know my son, who is ADHD, uses a timer for basic things like taking a shower. It works for him !
Stop telling me to declutter! I WANT ALL MY STUFF!
😂
I want all the things, too! I’m just making room for new stuff! 😂
@@villagecardandcrafts 😂😂😂
I always start with just grabbing the “trash” off the workspace or around my craft room. It’s always amazing how much clutter is little bits of detritus that just need to get tossed into the trash. It’s quick, required little thinking and goes a long way to clearing up the space.
An excellent tip! Thank you for sharing! 💕
Reminds me of my craft room. But on a rainy/stormy day its soothing to have a really good sort out while listening to a favourite cd. Makes your own sunshine.
I also use pretty pottery pots for different sizes of brushes.
Oooh that’s a great choice! I’m heading into an estate sale and just might look for something like that. Thanks! ❤️
Choose pots with wide bases & smallish tops then the heads all stay separate & pots look good.
Very nice!! My problem is that I have way too many hobbies and so too much stuff. Now, I do like the things I bought and want to use them. I’ve decided to take on the ‘No Buy Year’ challenge for 2024. So as my brother says, I’ll be shopping in my stash….
I applaud your being able to stick to that for a year! We shop our closet for clothes which I detest buying! Getting organized enough to shop the stash is the key! Good luck! 😀
Oh, favorite tip... hhhmmmm...I like the bins with handles and the idea of working from the top down, but the entire video was very helpful and encouraging!
Terrific! Thank you. 😊. I do love those fridge bins and they come in many sizes. Happy New Year!
I am overwhelmed.
I’m sorry 😪. I’ve definitely been there. I hope my tips help to alleviate some of that. ❤️
I liked all of your tips but doing the biggest task first really gets me going because I can see big results fast that motivate me to “dive in” and do more. I’ve been afraid to go into my craftroom after Christmas crafts wrecked my once tidy room. Thanks for the motivation! Tomorrow I will……😂
Best of luck with whatever tomorrow throws at you! I do understand the horrors that the Christmas season dumps into our craft rooms! ❤️
I sometimes say I’m a crafter and a collector of craft supplies.
Sounds about right for the majority of us! 💕
Great tips! My favorite is setting the timer. It is amazing at what you can actually get done in a 10 to 15 minute time frame.
Totally agree! 😊 happy New Year!
10 min. Timer, top to bottom, easiest task first. I can’t decide which is my fav. Glad I came across your post!
Awesome! Thank you! ❤️
Me too!! Somehow I never got the "O" gene. . . . (organizing gene!), your video is amazing!! Not only did you show that you are truly one of us overwhelmed crafters, but you let us see your honesty! You really do know how it feels. And you gave us valuable tips to help us! That meant so much to
me. I am so glad I stumbled across this video. I am a loyal subscriber! Thanks for keeping it real!!
Thank you so much! I’m definitely just like every crafter out there with all the same struggles. I sincerely appreciate your kind words. 🩷
I just moved and have an entire room! It was fun organizing it!
It’s so much fun to create your own space for creativity! Happy New Year!❤️
I'm so jealous of your "entire room"! I could collect all sorts of things (things I never do anything with 🙄) if I had a whole room to put the stuff in. 🤣
I’m a collector (aka hoarder) of many things 😂. I have often said that if I won the lottery, I’d buy a craft house somewhere in my neighborhood. That way I could have my own lovely house to store all my very favorite things! ❤️
Top to bottom!! I needed a place to start. It is january 18 and i need to mail 31 valentines of at least 6 designs. I need a work area and quickly. Yes, my children and grandchildren might be spoiled and yes, they dont want their card to look like their siblings. Thank you for helping me give them love!
You got this! Spoil them all every Chance you get! ❤️
FANTASTIC tips!!! I think I can move through the overwhelm now! Thank you SO much 🙂
That's awesome! Don't try to get it done in a day. Move at your own pace and see your accomplishments as they unfold! Happy New Year!
Great advice! @@villagecardandcrafts
I like the tip of starting from the top and working down along with organizing by size of things.
My favorite and most effective way to organize! Thank you! 😀
I am doing a craft box for my Granddaughters too ! I❤
Terrific! They will love it 🩷
I love all of these tips, but my favorite tips are 5. 3, and 4 in that order. Thank you for giving us motivation to keep our crafting area organized. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome! I’m so happy the video has been helpful! ❤️
Yes, i absolutely hoard craft supplies of just about every thing yarn, paper, pens, markers, paint, soap, lotion, scrub, bath bomb making supplies, journal, magazines, paint brushes, beads, wire, and all sorts of Jewelry....and on and on❤❤❤. I have been trying to organize it.
Wow! That’s a huge amount of supplies! I hope my video can point you to a place to begin with organizing your area. Sounds like you might benefit from have separate areas for separate types of crafts, as well. Best of luck! ❤️
I like the 10 minute a time to sort items out 👍 thanks for sharing your ideas ❤
Thank you for watching and commenting! 💕
My favourite tip was setting the timer, but the best one..... "If you haven't used it in 12 months, get rid".....that's the bit I struggle with :)
Trust me when I say that getting rid of anything is a struggle for me! Thank you so much! 🩷
Thank you for these tips and letting us know that we’re not alone in this. Craft room clutter just saps personal and creative energy. I appreciate you showing some light at the end of the tunnel😊
You are definitely not alone! There is always light at the end of the tunnel. You just have to find the right tunnel! ❤️
Happy New Year. Thanks for those ideas. Favourite tips....set a timer for ten minutes. I feel totally overwhelmed and I think this will help. Putting big items away first will also help. I have just one desk and it's so cluttered I take craft supplies into the dining room to work. Now you can't see the dining room table. So I'm therefore trying to give away half of my stash as we downsize. Thanks again, blessings
You’re welcome! It’s so hard to downsize. Before we moved from South Florida I had 2 full garage sized storage units along with a 4 BR house that was filled to the brim! We are down to one now and hoping to get rid of that one, too. Good luck as you navigate that journey! ❤️
Hard to pick a favorite; I would have to say tips 3, 4, and 5 are my favorites/most useful to me. I can't use the 1 year rule for purging; I haven't even crafted in a year because I've been overwhelmed by... life. And the mess. There is lots I still want to use that I haven't, solely because I couldn't find it. So I will use that rule NEXT year when I do a yearly purge.
Thank you for sharing! I hope 2024 gives you time to breathe and reset. Getting organized so you can find what you are looking for is a great first step! Happy crafting!
Good tips. I also like to take care of all trash early on, as it is amazing how quickly that makes a difference, even when you are good about throwing things away as you go.
Thank you! I just have one garbage can so when that’s full it goes out!
what a fun craft kit, I love it
Thank you very much! 😊
Great tips video and my favorite was the 10 minute timer
Awesome! Thank you! 😀
Wish I had those tips in writing!
THANKS SOOOO MUCH !!!! TIPS AND TRICKS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED!
Happy to help! 🩷
Great job! Great tips! Love the 10 minute tip. Thank you for sharing, my craft room needs some help and love! 👍🥰❤️
You’re very welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting! ❤️
Love the time limit tip x
Excellent! Thank you! 😊
Great tip. what was my craft room looks like a hoarder mess. I've move to the dining room table, need to get back in my r
Begin…the rest is easy! Stay task focused and put away or purge large items first. When you see some improvement it gives you the motivation to keep it going. Good luck! ❤️
Thank you for sharing your story!
Thank you for watching and commenting! ❤️
Nice to start the new year, all tidy and neat! Makes your fingers itch to start ! Happy New year!❤❤❤
Happy new year and Thank you!! ❤️
Awesome results....I do mess up..and I look around and say...ohhh nooo...lol...time to clean and get re organized...thank you for the share...
You are so welcome! 😊
I love your craft room, it is so large and the tables/workspace is fantastic. I do not have a craft room and have thought about how I can incorporate one in my space. Currently I am using the bottom cabinet and drawer space in the dining room built in hutch (I purged a bunch of stuff last year), I work on the dining table and have a 3-tier rolling cart, a storage cart with pull out drawers and a storage system of pull out mini tubs for small items. This is working OK only because I live alone and would have to give up the spare bedroom in order to have an actual craft room. I've had craft rooms in the past and didn't like being in them and transported my stuff elsewhere to create - so I think I can stay put for a while! Thank you for your tips. I spent the last 3 days working on a new organization system and am feeling accomplished.
I’m so happy you have a sense of accomplishment! Everyone works differently and there’s no right way. I enjoy my space because I put so many of the things I live into it. I’m surrounded by my Disney pictures and my Mouse Ears. It’s my happy place complete with a tv for background noise 😊
All of the tips are my favorite. Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year! Audra
You are so welcome! Happy New Year!
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!😊
I'm a new subscriber and I'm going to watch this MANY times. I loved the tip of starting top to bottom.
Welcome! That’s awesome! Thank you! 😊❤️
Having a son with special needs, my extra supplies are giving to his day program or the special ed. classroom. For copics, I use a craft bag with handles.
As a former elementary school teacher, I can totally get behind giving extras to teachers! People have no idea that so much of what is in the classroom came out of that teachers pocket. ❤️
Thank you all the tips are good 🌹👍
You’re welcome 😊
I liked all of them! I also saw a video of a crafter which suggested visiting Dollar Tree and ask for their empty picture frame or other boxes with the same shape. She decorated and labeled her boxes. Good to see I am not the only person in this situation. 😊
Yes, I’ve seen her video. It’s great! Thank you for watching and commenting! Happy New Year!
I plan to do this with small boxes for sorted ephemera. I'm not a card maker but junk journals. Yesterday at Dollar Tree I snagged a cutting mat display box that still had the foam slots in it. I felt it was a "big score". I already have some papers and premade card stock in it. I've seen videos where others have transformed plain boxes into storage bins and I am going to look for more boxes (hopefully angle cut) and do that.
Great idea! I love when we turn trash to treasure. ❤️
These were excellent tips! My favorite was setting a timer and starting with big items also not trying to do it all in one day. Schedule it out over the course of a several days. Thank you for sharing!
Glad it was helpful! ❤️
I liked the 10 minute time limit as i can spend too much time thinking about where to even start and not get anything done. Happy New Year!
Yes! Exactly! Thank you and happy new year!
I like the 10 minute tip to cleaning. Thanks for the video
You are so welcome! 💕
Thank you!
You're welcome!❤️
Super awesome thanks for the tips I love this time of videos stay bless and happy new years🎉
You’re so welcome! Happy New Year! ❤️
I’m going to start tidying up tomorrow , my 2 favourite tips were, to donate what I don’t want to make room for my new goods and to make it work for me🤗 thank you for the motivation I needed, watching from Australia xx
Love that! You’ve got this! ❤️
I did a bit today and it really motivated me to do more tomorrow. Just half an hour and I was tired but ready to go again
Way to go! 💕
Very cute video. Helpful
Glad it was helpful! 😊
Yep!
Happy New Year!
I've been a little at a time cleaning the bonus/crafting room. It will help by looking at 1 area at a time. 😮
Focusing on one area or task certainly keeps you from getting overwhelmed! Best wishes!
Love the tips ! The timer one works for me. Having ADD I tend to pick up something and think of things to use it for instead of putting it away 😂 like the upside down paint bottles tip. The caddy for Copic markers super tip. Thanks happy new year good health and craft happiness. just subscribed 🤗
That’s super! Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and found value! 💕
I love your ideas. I’m inventorying everything right now with an app called Sortly. Then I will categorize everything I'm a paper hoarder so I'm making my own storage containers. My husband made me amazing furniture and I need to use it more efficiently. Thanks for the tips
I use AirTable to keep track of what I have. I’ve got a lot of paper, but tend to just use white and black. That’s awesome that your husband builds furniture! Im happy to have given you some tips that work! Happy New Year!
@@villagecardandcrafts Happy New Year
I've never heard of Sortly. I did look at Air Table and another one...can't recall the name.
Ultimately I settled on Color My Life. The pre-set categories worked for me, and a lot of craft products are already in their database, so it's easy to add things to my own inventory. And for the items that aren't preloaded, I just take a pic and choose my category and storage location.
I primarily started it so I could keep track of Tim's ink and paint products....gee, should I grab this Cracked Pistachio ink pad? Do I already have it in Oxide or not?🤔
And I can now easily scroll through my supplies and choose items for projects that I wouldn't have combined otherwise, simply because "out of sight, out of mind". It's ALL within sight on my app.👀🙂
I'm about 75% done, and it's been a HUGE relief to my cluttered brain...and craft room.❤
Oh, and I like the idea of storing paint bottles upside down in a small bin. I will be incorporating that in my craft room.👍🏻
@@jaytee2642 my husband has it for our household stuff so I use it. You can take a picture of the barcode and it adds the product. I’m in a Spellbinders club and so far those have to be entered manually even past club stuff. Nice job on being 75% done I’m just starting.
I’ll have to check out that app Color my life. Sounds great! Thank you!
I really injoyed all of your tips for a pcraft room.. I am not an organizer person.. I think I have to try all the art / craft that is out there.. so it cost me a small fortune in supplies.. But I am working on what things I really want to do .. is My first step.. then , organize what I have .. loved your tips❤
Excellent! I’m glad I can help! Best wishes as you tackle this tough job! ❤️
Great tips
Thank you! Happy New Year! 🩷
@@villagecardandcrafts Happy New Year to you and your family as well. 🥳
I liked the idea of putting the biggest thing away first. Also working from top to bottom. Thank you
Wonderful! Glad it was helpful!
Glad it was helpful!😀
Will our craft space ever be perfect? Probably not. But when it is refreshed, it feels so good! Thank you for sharing these tips. I do so need to Declutter! I’ve got so many things I have not used in the past year…. or longer even!
Thank you for sharing. New subscriber.
💛TR
Welcome to the channel! My whole house needs a declutter! 🤦🏽♀️thank you for watching and commenting!
Of course I do!
Who doesn’t! 😂
Oh, I never thought of a paper towel holder!
I highly recommend! It’s the little joys in life. 😊
The one to do away with what I'm not using is my absolute favourite. It's like I needed permission to do that. A very close second is working from top to bottom.
That’s awesome! Thank you! 😊
My solution was moving! I was forced to go through all my stuff and get rid of basically more than half of it! I sold some large assortments of craft supplies on Facebook, and also donated to my local school. I’m actually happier having less, and now I buy very little! My new craft room is less than half the size of my previous one, and it’s really all I need. 😊
I’m so happy that you made your space work for you! ❤️(I’m not moving unless I win the lottery 😂)
Yes, I am a crafter hoarder . 🤣
Welcome to the team! 😂
Yes and good for you! It feels so good when it’s done!! The only tip that I may not do is to donate some kind of tool that I haven’t used because they can be $$ and I know that as soon as I donate a tool, I will want it! Other than that great tips!!
I understand the hesitation about tools. I’d hold onto those, too. I’m mainly referring to consumables. Unless,of course, it’s a tool you’ve bought that you just can’t get the hang of or it frustrates you to use it. Then I’d let it go.
I love the tip of setting a time limit. I have been unable to craft for a while so my craftroom is a mess and I haven't organized for a while. I keep starting, get overwhelmed and quit then buy more stuff compounding the problem! I have taken out several bags of garbage and have made a couple of donation runs. Btw, Copic markers are double-ended, they should never be stored upright. Can your container be turned horizontal?
I hope the 10 minute timer helps in your endeavors ! Yes, I turn the container on its side each night when I’m done crafting. ❤️
Can I buy someone’s old copic markers and refill them someway? The price of new ones just overwhelms me! Also when they start running out can you refresh them? You may not know but it sounded like you know something about them! Thank you! 💕
@donnacarraway9182 yes! You can! Copics can be refilled and their nibs replaced! All of my markers are from estate sales. Some are in bad shape, but I’m slowly purchasing refills and nibs. In fact some will be here Sunday.
I have had some of mine for a long time. I bought a lot in Athens and Cyprus really cheap and just bought replacement inkers and nibs after that. Tbh I don't buy Copics any more. I bought a pack of 300+ alcohol markers on Amazon for the same price as about 20 Copics. They are Ohuhu brand and are comparable in every way to Copics.
I understand those have reinkers too
Actually I liked all your tips, I have done a few. What a great idea to donate to a school, thrift shop or any other store like that. Now I have a question for you... Can you organize my space? LOL😅. you did an awesome job, thank you for sharing😊
Aww thank you! I appreciate the compliment ! I, however, don’t think I can do your craft room, too…live close to me?? You gave me a chuckle! Happy New Year!
My crafting area looks like a tornado just went through my apartment. A tip that really motivated me was to take care of the big stuff first.
That’s awesome! Good luck with getting it back under control! You’ve got this! 😊
You and my wife would get on so well… she has a house full!
I’m sure we would! Do you live in Central Florida?? 😂
@@villagecardandcrafts no unfortunately in England but can send her over!
😂😂 too funny!! England is my bucket list place to visit to investigate my ancestry along with the incredible architecture! Unfortunately I’d have to sail there as my ears are problem children and I cannot fly. Sooo I’d need a few months to vacation! Sigh…someday.
@@villagecardandcrafts you never know one day!
Ive found living in a tiny house to be a great motivator to not hoard stuff to begin with. I wont buy things when i know i don't have anywhere to put them. I dont think you need a lot of stuff to enjoy crafting, id probably just feel overwhelmed with a large craft room like that. its a shame so many craft channels seem to pride themselves on having massive amounts of stuff and showing off hauls all the time. i wonder how much of it actually gets used and how much ends up collecting dust.
Well, I’m definitely a collector with full set syndrome. That doesn’t limit itself to just crafts. I’m a collector of family history, too. Some of my favorite things in the world belonged to my great grandmother when she was a youngster. Not valuable monetarily but valued emotionally. As far as craft supplies and content creators, we need more than the average crafter in order to present different handmade products to the public. My hauls were meant to inspire others who may not want to spend top dollar and how to find out where to purchase gently used items. They were also meant to elevate the quantity of product I have to play with when I was just beginning my YT journey. I stopped any subscriptions at this point and only really buy the things I will use. Having a tiny house will definitely limit your spending. Thank you for watching and commenting. 😊
I live in Chattanooga, TN and Michael's is next door to Home Goods. I have to go by Michael's on Wednesday to get 2 Lexington carts and add some organizational items to fit in cart. Will also go next door to Home Goods to see what containers I can find. JO-ANN, Hobby Lobby and Michael's are all within 1/4 mile of each other.
That’s convenient! Good luck! 😊
Tip..... if your fridge packs up save the drawer useful for storing anything.
If my fridge packs up? I’m sorry but I don’t follow.
@@villagecardandcrafts you have drawers usually plastic inside the fridge really useful for storage. Also old video boxes store stamps.
Oh! I’m with you now. I’m a refrigerator collector 🤣I’m down to 3…one in the kitchen and 2 in the garage. I never met a fridge I didn’t fall in love with! Thank you! 😊
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and hints. My rooms looks like I just don't know just how it got into a mess into like it has Giggggle Giggggles 😅 😅
You’ve got good company and many of us find ourselves in the position! 😊
You did great! 10 minute time limit
Awww thank you! The timer seems to be the most popular tip! 😊
My favourite tip was to break it down over a few days.
Yes! It’s best not to try to do everything in one session. That will definitely put a person in a funk 😂. I take creative breaks…time to ignore the mess and just create whatever I want or color a page…something meaningful to me (even a bubble bath could do it)! Thank you!
Best tip might be setting the timer.
Terrific! Thank you! 😃
How brave to show your craft room, I think many crafter have rooms the same, but they are all productive friends. Thank you
Thank you! Well proof is in the pudding. I wanted to be real about what I was up against after a busy crafting season. I just didn’t have cards/gifts to make for my family, I also had cards and videos to make for my lovely viewers. 💕
Great video! Can you come over to my house? lol! I swear my middle name is "easily overwhelmed" especially when cleaning! I don't know as I have a favorite tip cuz they were all good and I need them all!!!! Thank you!
Awww thanks! Trust when I say my garage could use my tips as we just cleaned out a storage unit 😂
The timer. I love the constraint. How'd she like her box?
The timer is the most popular tip. I haven’t seen my granddaughter yet to celebrate Christmas. We will see her in a few weeks as it’s her birthday, also.
@@villagecardandcrafts let us know. My son's birthday is on Christmas so I'm always sure to get him separate gifts. Take care.
My sons birthday is 12/21 so we are in the same boat ! He came home from the hospital on Christmas Eve…we’ll after I went Christmas shopping! 🤣
I really appreciate the info you've shared, but...I am a definite hoarder of craft supplies. Dollar Tree is my best friend. Unfortunately, there are 4 DT's within 10-12 minutes from me! I often say I have more crafting supplies than the DT - not far from the truth! My biggest issue is I don't have a "crafting space". I live in a small apartment so I'm space. I have stuff in bins in the garage, chest/containers in the apartment, in my ample-size storage room off of patio...everywhere. The sad thing...I really don't make much. 😆 But Hey!!! I'm a happy old lady. 🧓
😂😂 I love your honesty! I do get some stuff from DT but have attempted to stay away for obvious reasons! Space is an issue for everyone, sadly. My son told me I’m out growing my craft room. I asked when he was moving. 😂😂. He didn’t think I was funny. 🙄kids. 🤷🏼♀️
I sold a lot of my stuff . I don’t have a craft room only a cupboard . 😊
Having a small craft area forces you to use what you have. That’s not a bad thing! ❤️
There’s a Creative Reuse Center that is local to me. I donate all of my purge items there when I cull my crafty hoard.
That sounds like a cool place! “Cull the crafty hoard!” 😂😂Love your description!
@@villagecardandcrafts yes, it’s a nonprofit thrift shop that is for anything craft/art related. I love it there!
That’s so cool!
What I can see your floor mines a storage floor❤
😂. Mine tends to be a storage floor, too! It’s cleaned up for the time being. Happy New Year!
Ha! That’s not cluttered! Mine is worse with no place to put things, lol but I’m gonna try your tips. And purge purge purge!
I wish you all the best in taming the beast! ❤️
Great ideas! I have a bigger problem! My craft nook, is just area inside my bay windows area. Plus I’m only 4 ‘3” tall and handicap. So going high. To store stuff is crazy.. and now it’s chilly in that area.. I’m just loosing my mind.. but I keep cleaning and trying to hide stuff out of sight..my husband calls me a hoarder too! I said, this crazy area earned me $1000. In craft fair sales! So bug off.. so I’m going to try you 10 minutes.. idea..
That must be frustrating! I’m not sure what you’ve tried yet to make your space more better for you. I have an ikea tv shelf under my desk area for additional storage. However it probably wouldn’t fit in a bay window. 😪. There’s no where else to repurpose in your home for your craft area? By the way, great job on your craft fair! ❤️
nice job! I have been contemplating the ikea desk (that you have your monitor on) with all the drawers. Does it work well for your craft room? I know the drawers from ikea are not very deep, so it leaves me hesitant to purchase it. : ) Fav tip was start big and work from top to bottom!
Hello! Yes, my desk works out wonderfully. I actually have 3 of them (hide my eyes in shame). They are situated in an L shape, as that is my preferred desk configuration. I have LAGKAPTEN which is the desk top. One is 78 3/4x23 5/8 " and I have two that are 47 1/4x23 5/8 ".
I use the ALEX drawers of which I have two sets that act as legs on the ends. Love those and am seriously contemplating another set. I use the ADILS legs which I found to be very cost effective. I don't find the depth of the drawers to be an issue. I have the bottom drawer of one filled with spools of ribbon. I find that if they are too deep, you loose stuff. I made some of the inserts for them since I could customize the size.
For additional storage I have two sets of LACK tv units which are 35 3/8x10 1/4x17 3/4 ". I could probably use another of those, as well. At $20 each it's a steal! My Cricut sits on a KALLAX 4 x 4 unit. There is also a BILLY bookcase and another smaller one (different type though). I don't recommend the smaller one unless it's what you need size wise. The BILLY bookcases are better quality. Overall, I love my IKEA furniture! I hope this helps with your decision! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and my tips!
The Alex drawers have a limited pull- out, which occasionally caused me to loose something at the back; can be annoying 😮
@@villagecardandcraftsexcellent information, thank you kindly ❤
You’re very welcome!
Interesting! I’ve not experienced that before. Thank you for sharing!
All good tips! I like the starting with small so that I have successes to build on. One thing that is driving me nuts right now is trying to find a way to organize allll my reinkers in a way that I can actually find the one I need. Storing top up just isn’t helpful at all… open to suggestions please!! Great video… TYVM!! Happy New Year!🥳🧑🏼🎨😀💗
I’d love to help! First, I need to know where you want to store them…countertop, shelf, drawer?
@@villagecardandcrafts I have them in Ranger storage tins…plus is they hold quite a few.. and those are in closed shelf units. I have been pondering doing a written “key”/map of some type. As they are not an often used item, but quite needed when the pads get dry, I would love to find the one(s) I need quickly when I do need them… just a minor aggregation in the scheme of life really, but would be lovely to find that ‘perfect/close to perfect’ solution for ease!! Thanks !!😀🤗
I, too, use the Ranger Storage tins. I’ve got a solution for the “how to find part.” What Brand of inks are you storing?
@@villagecardandcrafts I have Catherine Pooler, Simon Hurley and Distress Oxides!
@Mari-cre8s ok that’s what I thought. Let me get something together for you! 😊. Happy New Year!
Thats what my family say but they sure know where to come when they need buttons elastic lace my little grandaughter said my room is the family shop.😅
The family shop 🤣 I love that! You need a sign saying that at the entrance to your space! ❤️
I loved the divided basket, but they don’t have them anymore. How old was this ? I had hopes of getting one.
I believe you are asking about the beauty basket? If so, that basket was purchased on 12/31 so just a few days old. I found it by the beauty products. I looked for another but didn’t find one at this Home Goods. Hmmm a trip to another one might be in the works.
I try to set a 15-20 minute timer when I first go to my craft room. That hasn't happened in quite awhile. Maybe 10 minutes would work better.
I know my attention span gets shorter as I have gotten older…maybe it’s my patience? 🤷🏼♀️. 10 minutes I can manage without too much frustration. Happy New Year!
What kind of tables do you have in your craft room?
Hello! I have IKEA tables. I actually have 3 of them. Two are 47” wide and one is 78” wide. They are configured in an L shape with two sets of Alex drawers beneath.
@@villagecardandcrafts Thanks! My New Year's resolution this year is to convert my 3rd bedroom into my crafting room and I"m trying to do it in the most economical way.
It’s very exciting to build your craft space! I also have a Billy bookcase, a short ikea book case, and a Kallax unit for storage. Oops! Forgot about the LACK tv units I put under my desks for storage. They are $20 each. Storage is huge! Good luck and have fun!
P.S. I’m a junk journaler and I wish someone would share a great way to store ephemera! Thank you!
What do you feel the problem with ephemera is? It is storage, in general…like you need a better container? Is it how to organize ephemera?
@@villagecardandcrafts it’s both really First, I have so much, maybe I need to purge…harder than it sounds. And maybe a better way to store? I am putting it in large pockets by color and what it is but thinking about trays that stack on top of each other still probably by color and partly what it is ( I’ve lost the word). Thank you!
Purging is ROUGH! I’ll have to do some thinking to see if I can make any storage and organization suggestions for you.
How do you store ephemera now…besides in bags? What do you put the bags into and where do those go?
The pockets are about 8 1/2 x 11 size and about 3/4” thick. They are sturdy so I stand them up in a clear plastic container and each pocket is labeled. I even made a directory of the pockets so I wouldn’t forget what I have. It’s not a bad system but I’m thinking that I have too much( about 4 of those plastic containers) and I would pretty much need to dump it out to look at the stuff. That’s why I’m thinking of using flat plastic containers that are about 11” x 11” or 12” x 12” x 1” deep and just stacking them. What do you think of that?
"Donate supplies you've had for over a year."
Me looking at supplies I got from a yard sale 20 years ago that I just now used and had a smug look that I didn't have to spend time & money to buy. 😏
But seriously I need to stop. 😂
🤣 love it! The fact that you could put your hands on supplies you bought 20 years ago is amazing. I’ve got stuff in boxes out in the garage that needs to be gone through as a I’ve had them for more years than I care to admit.
@@villagecardandcrafts haha. Yeah. It was these sparkly watercolors. I believe I used them once for a project back when I got them and then they've been stored forever. I'm trying to find a solution for my paint "collection" so I have access to them for the future. And then I picked up sculpting and model painting recently so now a whole new range of paints has been discovered.
Holy wow! You are into so many art and crafts!❤️
@@villagecardandcrafts I like to think of it as one craft style that the skills blend into each other. 😆 Like I got my carpentry degree so I could build props and stage stuff and also you need to know painting and sometimes sewing and crocheting and I actually used my crocheting skills to quickly tie off lines in carpentry for building...it all connects. But also...I need a bigger space for all my stuff.
That’s incredible! I have a family member who lives out in San Francisco that builds stage and props for productions. His girlfriend curates props for various jobs as well. Need a phone from the 50s? She the go to girl to find it.
Honestly, I need to sell my dies. I have so so many, how or where can I sell these? Please help!
Hi! Not sure of your location, but Facebook marketplace or some Facebook groups like Destash Your Craft Supplies may be an option for you. Are there any local to you craft groups that you could try to sell them? You might advertise a crafting garage sale and sell locally, as well. Good luck!
@@villagecardandcrafts Thank you kindly for responding, truly appreciate. I live in FL and I’m more of a homebody due to health reasons, in other words I rarely leave my home and I am not too good socializing but love making cards! You are very helpful, again thank you! And have a wonderful New Year full of blessings.
You’re very welcome! I’m sorry to hear of your health concerns, but Im so Happy you have an outlet to express yourself. I’ve lived in Florida most of my life and currently live in The Villages. We moved up here 7 years ago from Port St Lucie. If you decided to list on marketplace or in a destash group on Facebook, you could arrange for postal pickup at your home. You can print labels for postage and schedule the pickup, so you wouldn’t need to leave your home. I wish you a happy, healthy new year. Please let me know if I can help in anyway. 💕
Your photo title was about hoarding, not organizing. I’m extremely organized but I have a huge problem with hoarding craft supplies, so I was looking for tips about hoarding.
I’m sorry you felt mislead. I feel like I’m a hoarder, so my intention was to show how to get it under control. As a crafter with full set syndrome, I felt like my tips to sort and organize my hoarding situation was spot on. Best wishes.
@@villagecardandcraftsthank you for reading and responding, I'm starting with a 3 month craft purchasing ban to see if that helps whittle down my supplies. Other than glue I probably have a five year supply of paper, paper products, ephemera, paint, ink, pens, pencils, stamps, stencils, scissors, paint brushes, rulers, paper cutters (which I own every tonic in addition to Fiskars and we are memory keepers, it's ridiculous) I need help
That’s a LOT of product to work through! Good luck!
I thought Coptic ( & the like) were to be stored horizontally.
Yes, I turn the container into its back at night so the markers are flat. 😊
Your room is tied I need help crochet wool on bed sewing machine s and lot of other stuff
I’d don’t have those things, but the strategy would be the same. Start with the big stuff. Find a storage option for your wool like a large plastic container. Everything needs to have a place that accessible when you want to begin a craft session. Good luck!
Good tips, but I was disappointed that you bought so many new containers. I bet you could have found and repurposed items from other rooms in your home. I think crafters don't realize how much money they spend needlessly on specific craft storage. Maybe be on the lookout for it at the next estate or rummage sale.
Hello! I’m sorry you were disappointed by my choice of storage. I truly only bought 3 items: the clear bins for the paint/texture paste was a 2 pack, the fridge bins were also a 2 pack, and the beauty container for my COPIC markers. I am a matchy-matchy girl. 😂. I didn’t have other adequate bins that would fit in the space I have allocated. I am always on the lookout for things at the estate sales in my area. I’ve gotten some really good buy 😊
