@@megamonster3538 It's bad because those lines directly violate their contracts. Yet nobody was punished for said violation. This made a lot of people angry since less than a year ago, Vic Mignona was ruthlessly attacked by Funimation for a harmless comment that a fellow voice actor, Monica Rial, took offense to. This controversy shows an underlying hypocrisy within Funimation. By not punishing the involved voice actors for these "outtakes", they're basically saying "oh it's ok when certain people do it."

It's interesting to see video games this old have characters whom americans didn't see until the Gamecube, Xbox and PS2 era.
Except for final bout. Only valuable part of that game was having the newer characters spoiled before gt came out. Wouldve shat my pants as a kid playing it before gt.
One of my favorite parts about Hyper Dimension was that if Piccolo or Cell successful blocked a big special attack, it'd blow one or both of their arms off, forcing them to quickly regenerate it (it greatly reduced the damage the move dealt but caused them to freeze for a couple seconds during the animation). Or Buu would simply be vaporized and reform.
don't really watch jared much anymore but these will always be my favorite videos of his. got me into a lot of fun dbz content

Final Bout is actually just as much as a Dragon Ball Z game as Budokai 3 or the Tenkaichi games.
In Japan and Europe, it was just called Dragon Ball Final Bout, without the "GT" in its title. Considering that it's filled with mostly Z characters, I don't see why it didn't qualify for more than just an "honorable" mention.
Either way, he's not doing anything on Dragon Ball, only Z.

It's nice seeing the evolution of Dragon Ball Z games. I used to buy all the Budokai (non-Tenkaichi) games for my PS2. The new DBZ games all look and feel the same no matter how hard the game developers try. It's not like they can change the story-line but it's still a little disappointing.
why not tenkaichi..i have tenkaichi 3 and the normal budokai 3 and i keep coming back to them...they are both so awwesome

I remember seeing the playstation dbz games as imports in a magazine when dbz was only at the frieza saga on toonami. I freaked out when I saw all the super saiyans lol. Sucks that the US didnt get any of the early games.
All I can say is DBZ boudokai tenkaichi 3 is my favorite. Anyone else agree?
While Budokai Tenkaichi is a great series, my favorite DBZ game is Budokai 2 for Gamecube. Controls tighter than a virgin's butthole.

I played the Wii version, and hated it. I'd be willing to bet that the PS version is 100x better, though.
When I had first played it, I didn't know about all the different controller options. I haven't had a chance to play it since though.

I'm DBZ3 for the famicom, you can make your own story by playing with a friend and add talk during the fight, you can make your own plot line

Am I the only one who hates Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout? It's not because of my dislike for GT, as there were some episodes I actually liked watching. It was wired, clunky, and just not fun. And the voice acting? Jesus, the voice acting. Me and my sister had some good laugh's because of the voice acting.
1. I've heard it called DBZ: Legends more than "The Legend"...any insight there? And that game didn't go "up to" the Buu saga, it completed all of DBZ including the Buu Saga.

Hyper Dimension was freakin' rad. I liked playing it on an emulator as a kid, even if I wasn't that good at it. The art style was top-notch.

Hyper Dimension is a forgotten gem in the SNES fighter library, much like that Genesis Yuyu Hakusho game.
Great video! Thank you! DBZ was my first anime and is still my favorite. Say what you will about how lame it is but i don't care! It was really cool seeing a retrospective about the games. The fighting games have really been treated poorly. Even so, the games are fun and there's nothing like battling these classic characters.

I've played every single DBZ game in existence thanks to emulation, lol... back in the days that's all I did.
I searched every dbz game I could play. I've mostly played Hyper dimension and Legend out of these ones though.
Hyper dimension sprites were awesome though for sure.
Budokai Tenkachi 3 was the best one of them all, in my opinion anyway.

OMFG Dragon Ball Z The Legend! I remember this game when I was a kid. As a 10 year old playing that game, it was difficult enough to be fun for me and fast-paced looking enough to keep my attention at the time. I loved that game so much, i need to play it again. DBZ The legend was awesome. I bought it here in Brazil, completely in japanese. We didn't understand shit, but me and my friends played it every single day after school. I still have it, it's a really fun battle system, and i wish there was some kind of sequel.

Are you following Dragon Ball Xenoverse? I played the beta test and the game is very enjoyable, even in its unpolished form at the time.

Wow. Doesn't feel like it, does it? Feels like yesterday, or last week or closer to something like last month? Yeah, I get the feeling. The games themselves don't look that way, but have that feeling. But that's also just how good Jared and his videos have been so consistently great over the last 10+ years. This particular DBZ game retrospective was what made me subscribe originally, well, that and the Pocky & Rocky episode with PBG, and the DBZ Sagas episode. After learning him and PBG were close friends, I knew I had to subscribe, and him talking about one of the best anime/manga series of all time, which I loved and grew up with myself, when it was on Toonami, back in 2004. Sorry, went off-track there. But yeah, this was 9 years ago? Geez, time flies, dude.

Lucky. I'd never heard of most of these games until this retrospective. I'd played Final Bout and Ultimate Battle 22, both of which were awful. Japan got most, if not ALL of the good to great DB/DBZ games. I get why, I'm just saying. Oh well, I prefer Goku's English voice actor over the Japanese one. In japanese, Goku sounds insane, literally. Sounds like an insane lady. I love the DB/DBZ series, but I started out with the Toonami English airing of DBZ. I also read the Cell/Android Saga in Shonen Jump at around that time. It took me a long time to catch up with the series, because I started from near the middle of the Android Saga, and even near the Namek Saga, where Bulma, Krillin, and Gohan were still flying the ship to Namek. I mean, the show kept restarting from the beginning again, and again, so I had quite some time to catch up. But even when I did, they still kept replaying the series from the beginning. So, I stuck to the games instead. Like Budokai, and it's sequels. Still a longtime, hardcore fan of the series, even to this day. Glad to be.

Nick Kakyoin I got the gist of it from playing tenkaichi 3. I tried watching it but honestly I cant stand it. Maybe the latter half of it is better but I reached until he got to Master Roshi then after that I gave up.

I really love the Dragon Ball franchise, Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi is incredible and holds a place in out hearts. As for the anime it's absolutely breathtaking.

Your copy is either an import or pirated. DBZ Legends was available *only* in good old jolly Japan and nowhere else. I lived in Mexico for most of my cheeky childhood and I do remember some bootleg SNES Super Butoden cartridges.

Hyper Dimension was amazing. Very deep and unique gameplay. Playing this game into the night, then into the morning, fighting those endless fights, that's my goddamn childhood.

I remember playing SB2 as a kid (8 years old) all the time with my cousins, since one of them got it straight from Japan for the SNES. I remember mastering the secret code to the point where I could do it 5 times in a row. Good times.
Also, I remember playing most of those on the emulator. They were pretty awesome. Especially Hyper Dimension. Though that was my last Dragon Ball Z game I would play until I hit my late high school years.
dbz legends was the best, having a mod ps1 in 1996, played that game to death.
I miss the times where Super Saiyan God didn't exist.
Ah yes, back when Super Saiyans were the strongest Saiyan form. Heck, Super Saiyan 3 was the strongest. Now it's been dwarfed by Super Saiyan God, Ultra Instinct and Super Saiyan Blue. As much as I love the new forms, Super Saiyan was where everything became epic.

as a us citizen, i feel cheated i never even knew these games except ultimate battle 22, which i remember thinking sucked, i don't remember seeing it come out till after budakai and being a 11 year kid i was very confused as to why they where releasing a game in such bad graphics after budakai....i guess now i have my answer...dang it japan why you always gotta make us usa fans wait for your awesome dbz crap!!!!!

Shame you didn't talk about Final Bout. I rented it from a Blockbuster when I was a kid and played it a lot. The interesting fact is that Final Bout came out in 1997 only a few months after the Z saga premiered in the US. I literally had no idea who most of the characters were.
This series puts me in such a good mood, is always nice to come back to it :)

robbie jenkins it's actually super duper fun. I haven't played a DBZ game since Tenkaichi 3 (I think) There are definitely some minor design choices that I absolutely despise but they're a pretty minor nuisance compared to how fun it is

Correction!! Butoden was revived with a JP exclusive DS fighter called Dragon Ball Kai: Ultimate Butoden. (If it were brought over, it would probably add the Z to the title) It controls largely like the originals, and has some very nice features. One of which appears to be "Model Growth." What I mean is that in the first fight with Raditz, Goku and Piccolo are super scrawny, and in later fights seem to buff up. (Granted this is only speculation, as I have only done the first battle myself.)
Ive still got a DBZ wall scroll that I purchased while in high school in 1998 on my wall at home. :) Getting to watch SUPER weekly was an awesome treat for a fan of over 20 years.
Oh man I remember the long hours of playing through the story mode of Tenkaichi 2 just to buy 3 shortly after I played through it...And be a liiittle disappointed by how short this one's was.
...But the fighting was a lot better, so whatever ^_^

Hyper Dimension is one of my favorite DBZ fighting games. The combos and sprites were really well made and the backgrounds look great for a SNES game.

Jeez, talk about history repeating itself. Bandai took mostly the same road w/ the Budokai series, as the Super Butoden games. Releasing the main games w/ minor-major improvements along the ways from game to game, then releasing a shin game after the main series is released, w/ 1 game to start it off, then 2 main series sequels.
I think the point of the screen splitting, was because the system probably couldn't handle rendering the environment between where the 2 characters were.

What's up with the flashing shadows in the third one? How annoying!
Well, on the SNES, it would have a transparency effect. The recording device has problems with that kind of thing, so it instead flashes like that. It can be seen on most game videos that have transparency, like Super Mario Bros when you get hit.
I had so much fun playing Hyper Dimension on an emulator. I wish there was a US release.....
