You need to watch the MV, this is the performance video
The mv is so much creepier since it shows him having the nightmares and becoming part of them. He is so good. His song Antidote, Waves and newest song SOS are great too. He owns his own production company and is free to be totally creative -- he suffered from depression and this song portrays some of the feelings he experienced during that time. He was formerly in the group Wanna One.
100% came here to say that you need to watch the music video!!!! The performance version is great, but honestly, the music video for this song is one of my all-time favorites.
Plus, knowing the lyrics to this one makes the song hit so much harder...

DITTO! Easily my most watched K-pop music video.
There are actually moments in the MV that remind me of some of my favorite horror/thriller movies (The Babadook, and Ginger Snaps). I don’t think they are intentional references - they just happen to be similar. Oh! And the green-blue setting with everyone wearing white reminds me of the movie Ex Machina.
P.S. Ever since this MV released, I’ve been wanting to make a video that emulates the connections I see. Just gotta get videos of the movies and then storyboard everything.
Kang Daniel has a great voice
The masks definitely make a lot more sense in the actual MV, which I HIGHLY recommend you check out. It’s impeccable, a perfect glimpse into how paranoia can look and feel.

You definitely need to check out the original MV. You can understand his story better. The MV is about the time Daniel struggling with mental health and depression. He was involved a lot in the production of his MVs. Please also check out this other works such as Antidote and SOS.
This song and the original MV is still one of the best songs and MVs in all of kpop. The storytelling of it all is so perfect and the creation an overall masterpiece. It's pure art. If you watch the original MV and read the lyrics that is.

The masks represented the many faceless people. The song is the personal experience of the singer Kang Daniel who went thru depression and panic disorder. Hope this gives you some context.of.the.MV. Thanks for the reaction.
