And let's not forget that the Roadrunner really love having fun teasing Wile E every time he's close to him and shows of he's full cartoony speed.
Chuck Jones one explained why Wile E Coyote kept chasing the roadrunner after all his failures. He said that what kept him going was that every time he almost has him. But if he missed him by a mile he'd probably give up.
According to the short Zip-Zip Horray, Wile E Coyote states that the reason he chases the Roadrunner is becuase Roadrunners are a high delicacy among coyotes, like "Filet Mignon, champange, caivar and chocolate fudge is to a man".
What started as a parody turned into something remarkable.
I personally think the original run of this duo is the best thing to come out of the Golden Era of cartoons

It’s a princess bride situation. It started as a parody of a genre but then it became one of the most beloved and famous takes on the genre.

A side from the Road Runnner and Bugs, there was (unofficially) one other prey Wile E. Coyote never could catch, the Energizer Bunny.

Out of all the Looney Tunes cartoons, the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote cartoons are the cartoons I have fun watching the most.
You Forgot That They Made Cameo Appearences In A What's New Scooby Doo Episode.

Chuck Jones mentioned Wile E. Coyote was partly based on him trying and failing to do home repairs.
Surprised you only used that clip of the giant Road Runner when it's the ONLY time the Coyote caught him
There was also that one time when Wile E. had shrunk. He “caught” Roadrunner, but was so small, he didn’t know what to do.

to me, these guys are the best of the original Looney tune shorts as Chuck Jones is one of my favorite animators next to Don bluth and Walt Disney!

coyotes are scavengers not predators, which makes sense that Wile E sucks at catching Roadrunner, coyotes aren't good hunters.
Actually Coyotes are indeed predators, and Generalist predators at that, eating anything they can catch but not passing up a dead animal if available
EDIT: There's also the irony of the fact Coyotes are faster than roadrunners
You forgot to mention the cartoon "Soup or Sonic" was the ONLY Cartoon of the Wile Coyote and Road Runner shorts where the Coyote caught the Road Runner in the end.

It had two Bugs Bunny shorts, and Soup Or Sonic.
At the end of the short, Wile holds up a sign to the audience....

I do get why other people like these Roadrunner Coyote cartoons. With so many gags to use, almost every single person can laugh at some of these cartoons. I actually got a few chuckles from these cartoons myself, but my biggest problem with these characters IS THAT THEY DON'T TALK! All the roadrunner does is beep like a car, and the coyote doesn't speak at all! It gets infuriating to have to wait and wait and wait without hearing any voice actors! The only two cartoons where I got to hear any dialogue was in The Wild Chase and Zip, Zip, Horray. Even in the Wild Chase, all the dialogue came from the announcer and Speedy Gonzales (Yes, there was a race to see if Speedy or Roadrunner was the fastest Looney Tune). And even in Zip, Zip, Horray, all the dialogue came from two children (which is why Zip, Zip, Horray is my favorite Roadrunner Coyote cartoon). I can understand why people would laugh at these cartoons, but to me, without dialogue, they're just mediocre.

It seems like Warner Bros. usually gives the Road Runner top billing (particularly on home video compilations of the shorts) even though Wile E. Coyote probably should have top billing.
My favorite: "Woah, Be Gone" - in which the Roadrunner actively tries to send the Coyote to his doom (and the Coyote knows it)
I wonder how a Road Runner show with the format of The Adventures of the Road Runner would have played out.
I really like this duo. Every cartoon that I have usually see that has these two would always keep me laugh.
Wile E Coyote and RoadRunner has been my favorite Looney Tunes characters ever since I was a kid and still love them to this day (I'm 34 now). It's always fun to see Wile E Coyote always try to catch the RoadRunner either by attempting to outspeed him or making traps through using the Acme productions but there is always something that screws him over, misjuding the things for his traps (such as didn't notice that Earthquake pills doesn't affects RoadRunners until he already swalloed the whole bottle of pills after those failed to affect his prey), the ACME Products fails unexpectedly, outside forces (such as trucks and trains) or the RoadRunner outsmarting him (like Wile E paints a tunnel for the RoadRunner to run into so he would crash into the wall but manages to get through but when Wile E tries the same he smacks himself into the wall and sometimes a truck drives through and runs him over). It's always fun to see him fail werever he gets hurt, runover, shot, exploded, burned, gets smashed by rocks and cliffs (including trying to protect himself with a tiny umbrella), pricked, crashes into walls and cliffs and not to mention falling several hundred feet to finally hit the ground with a loud bang and a dust of cloud rises towards the camera. It's also funny when he tries to catch Bugs Bunny for a change now and then but gets outsmarted due to Bugs' trickery despite being very intelligent and cunning.
There is one short where Wile E. doesn't speak when he goes up against Bugs. Hare-Breadth Hurry.
The Roadrunner sprains a giblet making a sharp turn, and Bugs stands in for him.
Since its sort of a Roadrunner short, Wile E. doesn't talk.

He also speaks to some children that question why he wants to catch the roadrunner so he does speak sometimes when he’s involved with road runner . I agree though that it’s not the common formula and that’s why he’s speechless with bugs in hare breathed hurry

I remember growing up with The bugs bunny and roadrunner hour. Back in the early 1990's. When Saturday morning actually had good cartoons on.
There was a Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner toon packed with another Warner Bros. film during the mid 90s. I can't remember what the film was though... I think it might have been the Iron Giant? But it was to my knowledge the last new cartoon done in traditional style. Wish I could remember what it was though...

2:52 actually fun fact:even though wile e coyote would only speak when he’s with bugs bunny he actually did speak with the road runner in two episodes of new looney tunes which were 2018’s “acme instant’ in which the coyote order stuff acme and the acme delivery guy is actually the road runner and 2019’s “Coyote Under Construction” that would also feature new looney tunes character Elliot sampson
He also spoke in Zip Zip Zooray when one of the kids watching the show on TV wonders out loud why Wile E Coyote was trying to catch the Road Runner, he stops to explain for the kids how a taste a Road Runner is, describing each meat part and feather having different tastes.

I had a bit of a Wile E Coyote obsession when I was 7-8 for reasons I don't entirely understand myself. To the point that my 8th birthday party theme was Roadrunner themed.
And it kicked ass. Got the cake to be shaped like a canyon, we got some themed cake-toppers (one of which got stuck under a cupcake "boulder"), we made a paper mache acme bomb pinata...

Also, Animat forgot the cartoon that have a crossover with Speedy Gonzales and Sylvester in 1965 and that's 'The Wild Chase'. Director By Friz Freleng. The first Wile E. Coyote & The Road Runner was directed by someone who is other than Chuck Jones.

It's a nice history about the two animals.But let me tell you what's surprising, what Warner Brothers doesn't realise is The Road Runner has a voice which is me only the voice is UK.During my love for the bird I made a new fandom that's to be shared.
