Fun Fact: When He Was Fired Chuck Jones Went To Be Director Of The Tom & Jerry Cartoons In The 1960s.

That’s why I was so confused when I was little. When I watch old looney tunes. I saw Chuck Jones. When I also watch Tom and Jerry. I also saw Chuck Jones. I always say to my self that he works at both studios but nope. He got fired and he just got a new job.

I've been a big Looney Tunes fan since I was 8 years old in 2007, I then discovered Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs in 2009 when I was 10... which was the same year as I saw DVDs of Looney Tunes classic short collections, Space Jam, Who Framed Roger Rabbit (I think) and Looney Tunes Back in Action, and in 2011 when I was 12 I saw about one or two episodes of The Looney Tunes Show, then in 2015 one month after my 17th birthday I became a huge fangirl of the TV series "Wabbit" and then couldn't stop gossiping to my friends about how much I loved that show and I also couldn't stop catching up to every broadcast of each show episode! I just wish Wabbit would air more episodes...

I’ve been a fan since the very beginning like the early 1980’s when the “Looney Tunes” were shown on WNEW-TV (channel 5) in New York City.
Before TV, WB cartoons were shown in theaters every Saturday morning and afternoon before a main feature film. In addition, they used to run in kiddie matinees every Saturday where kids and young kids saw them, along with film serials and other cartoons from other studios like Disney, Paramount for the “Popeye” and “Noveltoons”, MGM for Tom & Jerry and others, and Terrytoons for Mighty Mouse and Heckle & Jeckle, and then you get the “Three Stooges” shorts for 15 and 20 minutes each. They used to played in theaters throughout New York City and others each Saturday when parents and kids goes to a theater and see a cartoon as part of a kiddie matinee whether it was opened earlier at 10AM or 11AM or maybe a lunch break a noon. You get an hour and a half of cartoons and live action shorts including WB, Disney, or MGM along with a serial film, and the one problem that bugs the people was the ending including a cliffhanger where what was going to happened next and ends with a “To Be Continued”. After all of the cartoons and shorts were finished, it goes into a main feature movie.

One last problem; Golden Age Cartoons are normally seven minutes long, which is not much time for a story. Story is another thing I like to see in animation projects; without a good story an animation project cannot be enjoyed as much. Now, I understand that Golden Age short projects were more interested in comedy and gags than in story, and I am still capable of laughing at what I see, but with movies and television, I can get real stories with well-thought-out characters. However, this is not to discredit the Looney Tunes entirely. As I said, I do appreciate the Looney Tunes as a part of animation history. In my future comments on this Looney Tunes Lookback, I will prove this appreciation by telling which of the Lonney Tunes projects I do like (based on which character is explained in each video).

The Duck Dodgers series was amazing! I mean it had Paul Dini as one of it's writers! Unleashed and Baby both felt like cash grabs of just taking a pre-existing formula and slapping the Looney Tunes in it. But Duck Dodgers was one of the ones that really felt like it existed in the same spirit as the old shorts.

I would like to add that due to the Box Office flop of Looney Tunes Back in Action, not only did it close down Wanner Bros. Animation studio until 2014 with The Lego Movie (second last movie is Osmosis Jones which also have a flop), but also was the reason as to why Loonatics Unleashed was made (in case you don't know, is to revive the cartoon but in a more edgier style for the kids).

I will say that I liked watching the Looney Tunes more when I was in college. Since I was starting to learn about animation at that time, it made me more interested in animation's history; not to mention the Looney Tunes were having multiple reruns on Cartoon Network. Today, I do have an appreciation for the Looney Tunes. In fact, I suppose Chuck Jones could be my favorite Looney Tunes Animator. However, the reason for why I never made a favorite animated shorts list is for multiple reasons. First of all, there are way too many Golden Age Cartoons to count, and I just can't decide which ones I like more than others. The most I an do is tell my favorite shorts that star each individual character. This is a problem for the Disney shorts, the Tom and Jerry Shorts and the Paramount shorts as well. Secondly, seeing the animated short films in college convinced me that there are a lot of short projects that have no dialogue; a major problem for me because I take voice acting very seriously. An animation project does not feel like an animation project without voice actors.

Ever notice that there was only 1 episode from the entire golden age of Warner's that had Bugs (very briefly), Daffy, and Porky in the same episode, and not one that had Bugs and Porky working in a duo in any episode at all?

FUN FACT: Looney Tunes served as an inspiration for SpongeBob SquarePants. SpongeBob and Bugs are both able to dig undeground and rapidly move from one location to another at will.

I think Spongebob was slightly inspired by Daffy's old personality and Squidward by Daffy's current one. But yeah, that sounds logical. SB has a lot in common with Looney Tunes anyway.

After Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising bailed out of Leon Schlesinger Productions (whose company originally made title cards for silent movies in the years before “the Talkies” - and they didn’t only show credits… they also made title cards which let the audience know what was being said on-screen… or something like it). But once movies had learned to speak, Schlesinger knew his company’s days were numbered. Talkies obviously didn’t need dialog titles. They only needed credits, and this little development, no matter what else may have happened in the film''So with a lack of anything else to do, and given the overwhelming success of Mickey Mouse and a lesser success of a number of cartoons from other studios, such as Paul Terry’s Terrytoons, among others, Leon decided to go into the animation business. But it took a bit more than just the desire to make cartoons (in order to make GOOD cartoons). But Schlesinger already had cameras that could shoot cartoons, along with everything else needed to put cartoons on the screen… except just a few things - like ANIMATORS, INKERS and PAINTERS, and with the advent of sound, VOICE ACTORS were hired to make whatever characters they’d put on the screen actually TALK! But it was Hollywood, so everything he needed was readily available (provided those things had been invented by the time he needed them).

I like to think that The Looney Tunes would be friends with some of the Disney Charecters, and since they're "actors", they pretend they're rivals.

I fondly remember watching the Bugs and Tweety Show on ABC in the late 90s to 2000, then when they moved to Cartoon Network I was kinda bummed since my family didn't have cable so I could only catch them when we visited my grandmother on mondays every week(and sometimes on sundays after sunday school).

You didn't look at the executive producer on the credits in the late-1960's. The cartoons from the late-1960's looks like a TV show.
