Never underestimate the importance of free throw shooting. One of the most incredible displays in tournament history, and it's why UConn became the only 7 seed to win it all. Their experience and grit simply overshadowed the talent of their opponents

Boatright doesn't get nearly enough credit for this run

I was a student at UConn for this run. To this day the best three weeks of my life. Managed to scalp my MSG tickets off an amazing human who gave them to me for a discounted price because of some stupid thing I posted on the unofficial UConn black market (if you know you know). These videos have been getting me through the pandemic. Thanks so much for posting. Pumped for Marquette tomorrow!

kemba walker, Shabazz Napier, Boatwright...they gave me chills watching them operate. And I could listen to Vern Lundquist and "Raff" everyday! Can't forget Shulman, Doris Burke, Fran Frachilla and my man Jay Bilas! Miss the real Big East.

What I'll remember most about this run is the ridiculous free throw shooting.

5:00 biggest shot of the tournament

You’re looking at the shot, I’m looking at the rebound. Snares it with one hand while getting pushed in the back with his momentum carrying him out of bounds. Obviously the shot got them the points but it doesn’t happen without some very tough work on the glass. If Brimah doesn’t make that play and St Joes ends up with the rebound, UConn very very likely loses the game and never goes on that magical run to win the whole thing. In the grand scheme of things, this was a 10-7 game that seemed fairly irrelevant, you’d assume the winner bows out to the 2 seed in the round of 32. However, we know how it played out from here. This is why the saying “survive and advance” exists, just win, no matter the manner, and you have a chance to make a run.

29:53 Look how Shabazz gets Boatright in position to get that huge steal and dunk. Wow.
There may be more talented players in UConn lore, but Shabazz was/is the greatest *leader* in program history...

Your second statistics during one shining moment was incorrect. UConn only beat 4 higher rated seeds, not 5. UConn was rated higher than St. Joes and Kentucky. Great video nonetheless!

As a UConn fan, it's nice to be relevant again. This was a magical run, don't think we'll ever repeat that kind of tournament success again.

They're good enough to win THIS tournament. I don't gamble but they're currently the betting favorite in Vegas

@@bigdog1002 doesn’t mean I’m not hoping they pull this off. Currently going up against a very strong Gonzaga team…

What a strange thing to say.

    • @RoadCone411

@@user-io4sr7vg1v Yeah, I dont know where my head is sometimes. If I allow myself to get too excited tonight in the final, I will just be that much more disappointed if they don't win. The Gonzaga game looked like a tough matchup, yet once they shut down Timme and he got into foul trouble, it was the easiest game of the tournament because Gonzaga had nobody else to reliably go to.
I know UConn should win tonight and are favored, but this has been a tournament of upsets; SDSU deserves to be here as much as the Huskies.

we all see how important the free throws are .The huskies nailed the freethrows and thats how they won it the majority of these championship comes down to the wire and if youre team is a poor freethrow shooting team then your gonna most likely loose.

DeAndre Daniels was so good during this run. Surprised he didn't last longer in the L. Injuries?
