    Whenever I'm getting frustrated trying to make a highly detailed bait, I like to be reminded that a fish's mentality is basically : "Ooooo something shinny! Imma eat it."

    We don't see new ideas in lure making that often. So this is a perfect implementation of one of those new ideas.a good idea. Well done.

    Great video, I'm definitely going to give this a try. If people are looking for other applications for cds, TA fishing has a video where he uses them as attractors for sea fishing, no modifications, just a string of old AOL discs.

    Great re-purposing. Love the flash. Reminds me of an Erie Dearie used on Lake Erie for walleye fishing and small mouths. Would get a bit on the down drop. All about the flash. Good scurf look fishing on the lake and catching the bass.

    Considering the fragile CDs, how about using a lead crimp stinker on the edge for an eye? A gentle crimp and some UV resin should hold it. For those like me who would break several while trying to drill so close to an edge of brittle plastic.

    Great idea Franco! Lots of uses for CDs, I just made a bunch of reflectors to keep the birds from eating the grass seeds I put on the lawn by attaching a CD to a coat hanger support with a piece of bead-chain. Last year I made a secchi disk (for checking water turbidity) from a CD and a bell-sinker. Fun stuff! How about a blade bait? The hook hanger and tie-point could be loops of wire epoxied into plastic body.

    very cool little lure. great job.
    in my early days of making lures, i used to bust a cd, to get all the reflective film, to use on lures. that was before ALL the various choices that are available to us now.
    and, i used to use a paper hole punch to pop out circles from a cd, and those were my first variation of lure eyes.

    Great looking lures! I went through a lure making phase a long time ago. Going with the idea that shiny and flashy would help attract fish, I carved a fish (lure), head and tail but with a helix for the body. The wire ran straight through the body which allowed the helical section to spin as it was pulled through the water. After applying a terrible paint job, I glued on strips of a reflective material similar in appearance to the CDs you used. For one of my first lures it looked great moving through the water and it really flashed the light. I caught several bass with it despite the spinning action causing the line to twist something terrible (I used a cheapo barrel swivel). I lost that lure but I still have the prototype.

    nice little lures. but you can thermoform cd's too, and create hollow bodys,or bended spoons. and a special lure from the baltic coast, an inline/linethrough-spoon. its nearly the same like yours, i would just take lead as spacer and a small tube in the middle straight through. if you stopp the retrive it will spin and sink sideward. like the westin 360°, snurrebassen,praeston. they are casting like a bullet,catch every thing great, and the fish cant use the weight of the lure to get of

    Wonder how those CD’s would work crankbait lips ? I might have to try A few and see how durable they are. I could also see using something like this as a blade for a spinner, might have to give that a try too.

    I just made an experimental lure with wood for the head and down the spine to tail and lexan for the belly in the style of a crank bait. It floated nice but my question to is how can I get to swim straight it leans to the right I have one 1/4 ounce slide weight near the head in front of the hook I tried adjusting the line tie and hook hangers and style couldn't get it to be upright I added a1/16 ounce more too. Do you think that will stabilize it

    • @EngineeredAngler
      @EngineeredAngler  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it is a crankbait with a lip...you probably have a misaligned lip. You can't fix it with weight.
