This Kit will help to resolve the Factory Engineering problems with the 4JX1 Engine fitted to the Turbo Diesel Holden Jackaroos or the Isuzu Wizards in New Zealand or the Isuzu Troopers in Europe & Middle East.
Over time, the Oil sloshing around in the Sump causes fatigue in the brackets which hold each of the 2 Oil Pickups into their respective mechanical Oil Pumps. Usually this occurs from approx 200,000kms onward and can affect either pickup pipe. If the smaller pick-up Pipe drops out into the sump, then the most common symptom is that the Truck wont start, because it cannot obtain enough Rail Oil Pressure to run the Hydraulic Diesel Injectors. An easy test for this is to tap the bottom of the sump pan with a rubber mallet and listen for a subtle rebound sound, which is the broken oil pump bouncing in the bottom of the sump pan. Sometimes adding an extra 1L over the top mark of the Oil Dipstick will allow the Truck to start, as the oil now covers the Pump opening and oil can be sucked into the pump to run the Injectors - but the Truck should not be driven in this state, as it needs immediate repairs.
However, if the longer Pick-up Pipe bracket snaps, and the Pipe falls into the Sump, then the Truck will start, but the Oil Pressure Gauge on the Dash will not respond and the Red Oil Light will come on. This is a very dangerous situation because this is usually very quickly followed by a blown Turbocharger and you can be literally grinding the Crank Bearings and Cam Journals away, as there is no Oil Lubricating the enigne.
The Solution is the 4JX1 Pick-Up Pipe re-engineering Kit, which includes 2 x Custom made Springs which sit over the pick-up Pipes and compress when the Sump Pan is fitted, thus acting as stablizers to reduce lateral movement on the Pipes, hence reducing the potential fatigue on the Oil Pick-up Brackets. But at the same time, they also gently push the Pick-up Pipes into the orifice to improve the quality of seal and reduce the chance of Oil Foaming or Aerated Oil being circulated in the system. So even if the brackets were to fatigue and snap at a later date, the Springs should still act to hold the pick-ups in their proper position. To complete the Kit we have included 6 x Viton O-rings which have been carefully sized to give a perfect fit and tight seal into the Oil Pumps, and Viton is renowned for both it's chemical stability and superior mechanical wear properties, so we don't anticipate needing an O-ring change for at least 200,000kms after fitting this kit.
As can be seen in the supplied photos, it might also be wise as extra peace of mind to weld a small gusset into the bracket to help strengthen the bracket against future stress fractures, but this is not essential.
Don't put your 4JX1 engine at unnecessary risk of premature catastrophic failure. It was engineered to provide 1,000,000km service, but tragically these engines often meet an early demise because of a simple engineering oversight, and these custom made Oil Pick-up Pipe support Springs can help restore confidence in the Jackeroo Diesel engine for only $39, and that's including postage to anywhere in Australia.

This is ingenious!! You sir need a friggen cookie! I often place orings and weld a support between the two pickups. But the true answer is in the springs!

Good video mate. I'll link it to help others solve their Oil Pressure issues....
Did you use the little Green O-rings supplied in the kit, or did you fit new Holden O-rings?
Did you have to give the end of the Springs a little squeeze to get them to clip and hold onto the pick-up pipes?
I've also found that if you have problems getting Oil Pressure in the Lubrication Circuit after fitting these Kits, then you need to loosen the Z600 Filter a little bit (1mm), to allow the air in the empty long pipe to escape. Then when the oil starts coming out of the Z600, quickly tighten it and it's good to go thereafter. These Oil Pressure issues are also very common in the 2003 & 2004 engines after an Oil & Filter Service, and the same trick of loosening the Z600 a bit, then waiting for oil to overflow out of the filter before tightening seems to work very quickly to get the Lubrication Circuit Oil flowing properly again.
Other owners have managed to weld gussets onto the pick-up Pipes, and others have added steel brackets to clamp both Pick-up Pipes together, and these solutions do work for a while, but the added weight linking the two pick-ups together isn't a smart idea, because it adds to the momentum when the Oil sloshes around in the sump - I've seen pick-up pipes snap off the bracket where the weld joins to the stem, and the pipe still falls into the sump. It seems as though Springs on the bottom are the best way to prevent the lateral movement of the pick-ups, and to prevent pipes falling out. They might even help reduce the larger debris from being sucked into the pick-up pipe strainers as well...as could clearly be seen in your pick-up pipes!
    Good job mate

The gumtree ad is no longer available. Anyone have contact details on the seller or details on the parts from the kit?

Cannot make out what the hell you are saying. Any chance you make another vid but this time in English? Certainly looks like a good modification...

I could understand him just fine. Hes speaking in English. Perhaps hearing amplification is needed at your end?
